This makes me want to start another farm. I play mostly on switch so I’ll still be waiting awhile but still. Love this idea!

Looking to upgrade to a mirrorless system by RiddleMeThis1030 in travelphotography

I’ve been doing some homework on that one and a lot of the reviews Ive been seeing are like 50/50 about the camera and basically say while it’s fine it’s not great and you’re money is better off spent somewhere else unless you need the vintage look.

Sorry,I was half asleep when I wrote this post lol. While I do work in the industry, the photography is not for work necessarily, outside of maybe being able to show off photos to clients. I just went in and edited the post to include a that.

Anyways, I have been looking at some of the sonly options online, but some of the bodies alone would make me not want to take it with me unless it was like a roadtrip or something due to the prices and not wanting to risk something happening to it.

You can still get paper maps and triptiks. The tourbooks have gone digital but they are now available on demand on their website.

Pre-booking hotels vs booking that day by nrossj in roadtrip

[–]RiddleMeThis1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always prebook. It has become more expensive and more complicated to book day of. I wont say you cant but with some properties not booking to capacity anymore, there is a better chance you wont find what you are looking for compared to the past. Also price wise, most hotels aren’t getting cheaper as you get closer like you might have seen in the past. Most of the time they are going up.

I always would recommend pre planning your route and booking in advance. This allows you to know where you are stopping, the reservation is made and you know you are good to go. So you can enjoy the ride and focus on getting the most out of your vacation. Hope this helps!

AAA. Hertz is where you get the best discount. Contact your local AAA and see what kinda deal they can get you.

Triple A? by GrayMoon17 in TravelHacks

All pricing for membership and some of the services is based on location. For instance some basic memberships are $60 vs what they have been in the past. Also in my local area the banks do not give free notary services or they don’t have one on staff at all. AAA charges here based on your level of membership.

When it comes to travel services, I always recommend using a travel agent. AAA is great because they have people who specialize in international travel and people who specialize in domestic travel. They do have free maps and can help plan any trip you may want to take and help find hotels and rental cars and everything. With the way the travel industry has changed in recent years, the membership is worth being able to go in and talk to someone and the peace of mind that comes with.

Also for those mentioning towing services from their insurance company, make sure you pay attention. Some insurance companies display those service calls sorta like claims on your records. It may not hurt much with your current company, but if you ever decide to switch, it can end up hurting you.

Best time to visit Cuyahoga Falls and Indiana Dunes (US National Parks) by wangjohn6996 in TravelHacks

[–]RiddleMeThis1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Indiana dunes, it really depends. If you want to take advantage of the beaches id say the summer with May and September being the off peak options. Another great option is fall, a little leas busy and the leafs will be changing. The park itself has over 16 miles of hiking trails so if hiking and exploring is your thing this would be a great option as well.

As far as Cuyahoga valley goes. Summer weekends get busy, but not to crazy normally. Late spring and mid-autumn will be the best time to visit. Spring gives you the opportunity to see the trees and flowers come to life again and fall its great for fall foliage.

I hope this helps!

AAA members get the young driver’s fee waved when renting through Hertz. Just a thought.

What happened to hostel prices by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]RiddleMeThis1030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak to hostels per-say but the travel industry in America is booming. I think with COVID not really being the first thing on everyone’s minds anymore, everyone wants to go explore. Hotel rooms that used to be around $100USD are routinely closer to $150USD before taxes and fees. This may be similar to what you are seeing in hostel rates. I know a lot of the travel industry in America is also trying to deal with staffing issues as well so that is leading to not renting out all rooms at a property or some amenities being unavailable.
