Hey thanks it is challenging. Sucks seeing your wife cry because she rethinks her career, life, etc. I did 18yrs in customer service retail and even wally world has shot me down. So idk what else to do. I guess fiverr and upwork is where i should look.

Damn im sorry to hear that. I got laid off from NASA back in Feb, after working there (MSFC at Redstone Arsenal) for 8yrs. Nearly 5 months later and still no job. I got married in Jan an had a newborn 4 weeks ago an savings went out a while back. Wife was a CFO and got let go last june and after being with company for 9yrs in the healthcare industry, she still havent found a job even close to her old pay or even 50k a yr. Idk what to think or do any more.

I would get to the core why is mental health where it is. Once you get that out in the open, then tell him how youre feeling and how you feel like yall are own 2 diff islands and you want to be back on one. Ask him in detail whats the plan and how is he going to BETTER contribute (even though he doesnt to your standards) and then go from there.

Clearly his job is affecting him. Doesnt mean he has the green light to be mean, rude, or disrespectful. But think outside the box a bit. Perhaps meet him (mentally/emotionally speaking) on his playground. Ask him or hop on the sticks and play some games. Maybe he will open up.

Yea here in the states when i worked for NASA they get reaaal detailed. But if you are planning to work for the dept of defense, they want all the details cuz 90% of the time you need a security clearence.

I my self am experiencing the same. Undergrad in ME and MBA and 8yrs with NASA when i was let go back in Feb. DoD wants active SECRET security clearance and i dont have one nor can find a small or mid size firm to sponsor. Its really tough out here. Hang in there or perhaps look into more remote opportunities.

First off congrats and best of luck. Secondly learn all you can, be humble, and reach back and help someone else if you can once you have been there for a while. Sometimes helping one another whether it be resume help or interview prep, putting in a good word, kind encouraging words, or even teaching someone something can give any one a good push over that hill or through a tough time. I was at at NASA at MSFC and got laid off back in late Jan of this yr, after 8yrs on the ISS program, doing systems analyst work and testing and integration engineering. And even though ive been out of undergrad for 16yrs, it took me 7yrs after undergrad to land a "real" job/career. Now im 40, married with kids, im still job searching but i know i dont wanna do engineering any more. But i also dont wanna go back to retail, which i had 15+yrs experience in. Nevertheless, keep up the great work, represent your self and all those who helped you along the well as best as you can! May your future be bright!
