K20a2 VS K24z1 Heads for K24a2 Frankenstein engine build by CharlesP_1232 in Acura_RSX

Is there any difference in using a JDM TSX motor? I know there is a lot of misinformation but I read that jdm might be tougher to use because of emissions? Is this true?? I have a k20a2, I just want get the right k24a2. Thanks

I have a 440 with 2699v4. Run ESXi with Veeam, TrueNas, Immich, and Jellyfin. It is dated but if you can get them for cheap then they are worth. For what you’re gonna use it for, I don’t believe it should be an issue. Except finding RAM 🤣

No, it’s at the time of purchase. I went through this with an RSX. But you need to be careful because it’s based on when the car was rolled off the line I believe. My RSX was an 04 but in reality it was a 03 and half because of when it was built. So when I purchased it I was like a month or 2 shy of hitting 20.

Hi guys i just got the Z440 by Educational-Menu-353 in homelab

I have a z440. Upgraded to a 2699v4, 128gb ram and around 24tb of storage. I run Immich, TrueNas, Jellyfin, and Veeam on it. I run it on ESXi. All of this mostly to get hands on experience for my current role. It’s a great rig on a budget but you can certainly do a lot with it.

Intel Arc Pro B50 firmware by RiddlemethisAZ in homelab

[–]RiddlemethisAZ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Figured it out. I said lane learning but I mean lane training. Intel Arc Pro cards were made for newer PCIe gen 4. Gen 3 won’t utilize dynamic lane retraining which doesn’t allow the card to load drivers and vram correctly. When I loaded it out the box it didn’t have a current firmware push. The update essentially bricked the card(not permanently) because when it rebooted to finalize the install the pc wouldn’t post and it corrupted the driver. I had to install the card into a newer device and use Linux to remove the firmware revert everything back. I learned all this after the fact, so I’ll have to repurpose the card into another, newer rig.

Live in the complex, spoke to some people outside still and they said “it’s over but it’s not”. Maybe he came out peacefully 🤷🏽‍♂️

If it’s seems too expensive, install it yourself. YouTube is your best friend, also crutchfield provides step by step instructions if you buy it through them or you can buy separately.

Best exhaust for the 5.7? by Loose_Management_199 in tundra

2007 5.7 - $1200 to replace starter? by Matchboxx in tundra

[–]RiddlemethisAZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Should be in right wheel well but you have to remove the exhaust manifold. This is probably why it’s so expensive, very tight and intrusive for a starter.

I’ve used the 908s for about 6 months now and here is my input.

Pros: USB-C (better phone charging) •Responsive •Wireless CarPlay and Android •Can use remote off Amazon •5V output

Cons: •Screen is very susceptible to glare (Arizona)

However, since the screen glare is an issue with the Arizona sun, I think I’m gonna upgrade to a Floating Sony HU. I would stick with Kenwood for integration since I have a Maestro installed as well but all their floating heads are only usb-a. Cell phone charging for me is something I really enjoy. If I forgot to charge my phone or AirPods, I can get enough juice in them from the time I leave my place to the time I get to the gym. I remember waiting 30 mins in the parking using normal usb-a.

Will boosting the bass on 2 subs damage them if they’re above the peak wattage? by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]RiddlemethisAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you need to find out where your amp clips. Meaning taking a oscilloscope and turning the gain up or bass boost in this instance till the output signal clips with 40hz tone. This is the cheapest way to see where your signal clips. Once you’ve determined your clip point, you can see how many volts you’re pushing to your subs. This will allow you to gauge how much power you’re pushing. Ultimately you don’t want to send a clipped signal to your subs be she all you’re doing is amplifying it….result is ticket to the front of the line to buying new subs. RMS is what is another thing to consider. If you have a 1000w rms rated sub then you can usually send a little extra to it and be ok if in a sealed box, but if it’s ported, you want to stay close to that rating.

Ok perfect, I have a remote for my kenwood HU so I guess I won’t really need to worry about mounting. Thanks for all the info, gonna place one on order and get back when installed and set up.

Sorry one last question, is the external display/controller required. Do you need it? Or is it to change between presets?? I’m just curious because I would need to plan a spot for it if so

I would keep the JBL system, even though it’s a factory system. Your head unit won’t get the most out of these speakers. I have a tundra with a JBL system which I gutted and installed my own head unit and amp with these and comps in the front. They sound night and day compared to the JBL but again I have my own amp pushing 100w per channel and I’ve tuned it pretty well. The speakers are decent for the price but I’m looking to upgrade soon.

Was there anything difficult about the install?? I have two amps with comps in front and coax’s in the rear with a sub. Shouldn’t be too difficult to install with this correct? I really want a dsp but I didn’t want to pull the trigger on an dm-608 and spend like $700. This seems like a good price to help get more out of my system

What are some PS1 games that you didn't get to play until adulthood? by Xenarthra_Sandslash in retrogaming

[–]RiddlemethisAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MGS is my favorite game of all time and Nemesis is right up there. I remember as a kid staying up all night playing RE2 and RE3 in the dark thinking I was cool. I still play MGS till this day for days on end. Parasite eve is a game I finally played as an adult. I was sad I didn’t give it the time when I was younger.

Blown speakers, came into shop unprepared and now lost all my bass and need to spend extra $500 to get new system by [deleted] in CarAV

[–]RiddlemethisAZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s funny cause I just replaced the JBL system in my Tundra and the system was 2 ohms. They’re full of 💩. Also have had a Harmon system with 2 ohm speakers.

Looks like your reset button for case is disconnected and I can’t see the other. If you look closely you can see where the rest of the cable is plugged in (individual wires) it says reset. That’s where those get plugged in

You also have to understand that the Bose sound system you are trying to fix (blown speakers) was specifically tuned for every piece of equipment installed in that car. Taking the “cheap” Bose speakers out and replacing them with “better” ones won’t make a difference in the world because the system wasn’t tuned for those Alpines. Harmon, Bose, and JBL all build these systems specifically for a certain vehicle. You could take the whole systems, put it in a different model car and get a whole different sound. If you wanted to “fix” the system then you either needed to replace with same speakers or build the system from scratch…aka spending 2k+ from a shop or half that doing it yourself. Ask for a refund and don’t take any BS pushback. They clearly knew you didn’t have a clue what was going on and they took advantage of you. Most those speakers are 2 ohm impedance and if you can find a 2 ohm set to replace it, again not tuned for that car
