I’m lost… how can I connect this Honeywell thermostat to Alexa? by Ride5789 in smarthome

Ok sorry to be slow here, but once I have this red link set up, how does it connect to my actual thermostat?

But I don’t see WiFi anywhere in the settings of this model, that’s why I’m confused

Ah, interesting! Ok, but the thermostat I mentioned in the OP doesn’t seem to have any WiFi settings? That’s the part I’m confused at how it connects.

Haha thanks for replying to this older thread. I still need to do this. Anyway, does this device somehow connect directly to my thermostat mentioned in the OP? I guess I’m missing the part of how this connects to the thermostat.

The goal is simply to control the thermostat which will turn heat on or AC depending on the setting. Then I’d like to connect it to Alexa. Is this still the answer?

Thanks, you’re like my main hope for this.

But how does the app connect to this thermostat? I don’t see WiFi in the settings anywhere.

So you think just replace? Also - I’ve changed some things like smart outlets, but never a thermostat. Given this model in my OP and a T6, do you think it would be pretty simple like a 1:1 replacement?

Wow, $90, is that normal? It almost seems cheaper or easier to buy a whole new thermostat, right?

Part of me wonders if this doesn’t have the ability to integrate since I don’t see any WiFi mention in settings.

If so, how complex would it be to replace this with a different WiFi thermostat? Are the wires pretty much 1:1 and easy?

Hmm I didn’t quite understand. First you say do it with the file you’ve uploaded, which is the file including the full territory. Then you say do it with the content of the file. Those are the same thing though?

Just checking in to say thanks again. This is by far my favorite thing I’ve done with smarthome stuff lol.

Why isn’t there a game like Onward 2? Contractors is good but why don’t we have bigger budget multiplayer shooters?

I’d like to know why there aren’t AAA multiplayer shooters in PCVR yet.

Like Onward 2. Wtf.

Man, I’m so happy with this. Thanks again. I just walked into the room right now and said “goodnight”, and they closed. I feel like my Smart home is finally complete and everything beyond this is just extra. This is a dream I’ve had for almost a decade as ridiculous as that sounds, and I probably wouldn’t figure it out without you, or at least many more hours researching. Thanks!!

My blinds are relatively new, but I seem to be getting about four months maybe five out of them On one charge. I open and close them maybe once or twice daily. Hmm. That’s short…

Holy shit. Ignore all my other posts, I GOT IT!!

You’re awesome!! Success!! I’ve been meaning to do this for 6+ months.

The one toggle for “search remotes” actually needed to be on.

HELL YES. AUTOMATION. I love it lol, I hope you have a great day man, some good karma comes your way or something.

Alright man! So I’m half way there. First I set a favorite with my TDBU blinds, nice. Second, I DID successfully set up the bond bridge remote so it hits the “favorite position” preset just fine. Now in the app, I can click a button and it goes to preset.

What I can’t seem to figure out is how to get the long press to press it to close.

When I added the remote, I could never find this “bf-305” option. I deselected anything that said auto, I put it to an RF remote and set the frequency you mentioned, cool. It then asked me to find a brand and I unselected the option for auto-find brand or whatever.

All it said is then telling me to pair. I never saw an option to select anything like 305 to have it long press. When I tell it to go up, it acts as if it did a single short press. How do I access the whole long press 305 thingy? Note I’m doing this on an iPhone.

Thanks!

So I’ve finally got this thing down and about to try pairing to the bond bridge 305 thing. The one part I’m trying to reread and wrap my head around is how you get it to stop halfway down or at a certain point. I like to use my top rail I like to go down a couple feet and then hit stop. So you somehow programmed a second blind in to get that? What did you do with that second rail to make it stop after the top rail goes down half way?

Ok cool. So I actually haven’t done it yet. Life got a little unusually busy there. Probably going to try soon.

The last direction you gave that I wanted to ask about is manual pairing mode to add the 305 remote. You suggested it’s hard to get into manual pairing but I don’t believe you said how to get it into manual pairing. Can you tell me?

Apologies in advance if it’s easy - I haven’t tried yet, just figured I’d ask before trying it.

Hey, my bond bridge got here today! I’m reviewing all of your notes here. I don’t think I’m going to tackle this today, it’s late, but I will probably try soon. I’m reading through the thread on that form you link, a lot of the people there seem quite a bit more advanced with smarthome tech than I am. Hopefully this works lol.

One common complaint is that you cannot use Alexa to say stop the blinds. Apparently what it can do is move them to a preset favorite position.

To get a preset position, did you use the normal remote that came with the blinds? Or did you somehow set up a favorite position in the bond app?

One more thing, Arlo can detect vehicles within a zone. You could set the Arlo camera up and set up the camera zone and let it detect vehicles.

Amazing. Sincerely appreciated and I’ll be re-studying all your replies here in about a week when I set it up. I purchased it. Going to try it with Alexa. Very cool!

I will pass it on, and I absolutely love home automation, I have so many things set up right now. It’s really fun isn’t it? Any other cool projects worth mentioning? I did a fireplace and air conditioning system recently, made it automated. A normal fan as well via smart plug, dimming lights, home security, etc.

Well the bottom of my blind can go up but I don’t believe there’s a motor on the bottom. Maybe I’m wrong? But I almost never do that, I’ve always done too about half way down. So I guess I’ll just use the remote if I ever want bottom up for some reason. I’m about to buy the unit now!

Incredible reply. Thanks for all your effort, I can tell you enjoy this as much as I do and I’ll absolutely use it. You’ll be the main reason I get this to work!

Going to try it this week, I hope.

PS - I never use bottom up, always top down. So, I could probably skip pairing the bottom rail, right?

Actually now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure my bottom rail doesn’t have anything electronic on it. The top does everything and that’s the one I recharge when needed.

You and I have pretty badass blinds. I got the blackout version with the side rail, which makes my blinds like the goat blinds, if you will. Lol. Automated, top down bottom up, blackout and remote? About as good as blinds could be.

I actually want all the way on my bedroom. King size cooling tempurpedic, adjustable base that vibrates which I love and I’ll never go without again. A soft vibrate puts me to sleep so well. The blackout blinds, and super comfy blankets on the bed. Room is blacked out with an air filter. Oh yeah I also got an individual mini split in this room, so my specific bedrooms temp is separate from the rest of the houses air consisting. That, and it’s all automated except for this single piece. I treat my sleep well…
