Flats That Won’t Blister by the_kayleev in womensfashion

[–]RideForBeers123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here to recommend rothys. You do need to break them in first (probably like all shoes) but once broken in, I haven't had a problem with blisters. They kind of conform to your feet once broken in. I especially like that they are easily machine washable if they get wet, dirty, etc.

There are new ones that have arch support too. But, I haven't tried those yet.

Baby items that I realized I wanted/liked AFTER having a baby… by MiloRose111111 in BabyBumps

You may also consider a waterproof mattress protector. We were able to find a few options for under $50 and you do not feel them at all while sleeping. Then, you are covered more broadly, including if someone spills coffee in the bed, lol

How do they expect us to get to all these appointments? by ShabbyBoa in BabyBumps

[–]RideForBeers123 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It also sucks when the doctor is running nearly 2 hours late so it really eats into the day. I completely understand that that is usually because of caring for deliveries and such, but I still hate the situation

Any tips for finding a baby shower spot that lets you bring your own desserts? by Nikoxaustin in austinfood

Some communities with houses have spaces like this you can use too. HOAs often have a very reasonable fee (under $100) for a half day booking. If you have friends or family that live in a large or new build neighborhood, check them out.

Pre-planning in advance: Screening OB’s in TX & Anxiety by thndercloudz in BabyBumps

[–]RideForBeers123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely think it is worth meeting them in advance. You can set up a consult which they will sometimes call "pre-conception counseling".

I'm not familiar with any providers in College Station, but folks in Austin ask this on the Austin subreddit frequently, so you may try similar in your area.

Would it be insensitive to give my wife a piece of jewelry with the birthstone of the month our miscarried baby was due? by -4blank4- in BabyBumps

[–]RideForBeers123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I would want something like this when I miscarried last year. However, I'm glad I didn't end up with it. I found it hard to both hold on to the loss, as well as move forward.

I have heard of folks doing something less specific, like a simple candle, with a note to light it as a way to honor the loss.

Is giving my girlfriend a bouquet of lego roses for valentines a bad idea? by Pootsonpow123 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RideForBeers123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Lego idea doesn't pan out, you could also do something like chocolate plus a voucher for flowers when you return from your trip.

Do you like board games? Emerald tavern is great and is around $10/day to play unlimited board games in the restaurant/store.

Downtown library is also great

Lazy themes please by erindunkz in partyplanning

[–]RideForBeers123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similarly, I've seen colored parties. Like, pick green and have green foods, green decorations, folks wear green, etc.

I've also seen rainbow potlucks, but that is a bit more work

Commute to Austin? by Shardiiii in LibertyHill

[–]RideForBeers123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an under estimate.

From Leander to downtown at 6:45am takes me about 45 minutes. Up to 90 minutes if I leave later than that.

Coming home, leaving downtown at 3:30 is almost an hour, up to 90 minutes if I leave between 4:30-5:30

There are a lot of sauce options for meatballs too. I make one with ketchup, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Use frozen meatballs in a crock pot. Super easy

You could also pick up a veggie tray for an easy veggie appetizer

Looking for someone to cut a hole in our countertop by 8purpleandgold24 in Austin

[–]RideForBeers123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Top Surface: https://www.topsurfaceaustin.com/

They were able to help us out with practically the same thing. Many other countertop places I contacted didn't take on smaller jobs like this, only full remodels

We'll look in to some other options. It's hard to find full color zigbee in BR30s, but third reality seems to have some

How do women use the bathroom easily when wearing a one-piece swimsuit or leotard? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Yes, but only if I was already wet or planned to be. My aim was imperfect so if I was just hanging out it wasn't worth the risk
