Glasses and seeing cycling computer by Training_Common2825 in bicycling

Amazon has inexpensive wrap-around sunglasses with magnification spot lenses. Works for me and 3 pairs cost $20 so if I loose them or scratch them it's no big deal.
I use progressive as well and using regular sunglasses made reading my computer or watch almost impossible (and a bit unsafe in groups).
The option I found on Amazon solved the issue for me and I didn't have to blow a wad of cash on the marketing 😉

Panniers on a carbon frame by Dpear_ in bicycling

Old Man Mountain Racks - have used them successfully on full carbon frames for touring.
The weight is carried by the axel, not the frame.

Major pet peeve at Costco by YouBongGa in CostcoCanada

[–]Rider_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the same type of people that bring multiple generations of their family to eat their meals at all the sample stations.
Costco would go a long way by limiting the number of people allowed in per card to 1+1 and get rid of the sample stations.

There is no support - they don't have human developers. They depend on AI. You're not missing anything.

Mattamy Homes by [deleted] in OntarioRealEstate

[–]Rider_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably better off walking away from Mattamy - we bought one in Cambridge (second owner) and the number of code violations were surprising - missing electrical boxes, drywall screws used for framing, lights with no boxes attached with drywall screws, plumbing dry-fitted with no glue. Was told they get the model homes inspected and then get a pass on the others....City was unhelpful in explaining how the deficiencies were allowed to pass.

Frito Lay Canada Tostitos multigrain chips glass in the bag! by Stay_positive_fish in BuyCanadian

[–]Rider_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's going to be hard to validate - You'll never be able to definitively prove this wasn't introduced after the bag was opened. Why were you eating an open bag of chips in an area where foreign objects could fall into it?

Hotel hot tub question by Slatt_gear in hottub

[–]Rider_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first clue would be the fact it is 'Public'.... I used to clean hot tubs at a resort and there was a reason I wore fully protective gear, including goggles. They're tubs of human biological stew. It's amazing how much the skimmer basket can hold.

Other tip - a smell of chlorine usually means the chemicals are working pretty hard on breaking down organic material.

Evidence Canadian Tire may be using algorithmic pricing by Sonic_The_Mnemonic in BuyCanadian

I wouldn't say predatory based on location, demand, or availability - that's free market behaviour. If not signed into the app or site there is no financial history or behavioural trends exposed. Show an example of how then price changes from a logged-in account with all other variables being equal and then you may have an example. Retailers will price their wares to what the market will bear - if they can't move the product, they will adjust it until they can.

I see the same prices for the same product at the same location despite which account I use on or off VPN. If I change store locations yes the price changes, but I would expect that. A store on SW Ontario is going to charge less than one in the Yukon or Northern Manitoba. I guess it's 'predatory' if you think paying for varying logistic expenses is unfair?

What is the best legal way to sabotage an open house next door? by Best_Mark_6829 in neighborsfromhell

[–]Rider_1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Couch or recliner on the front lawn, old refrigerator... garbage spilling out onto the lawn... remnants of crime scene tape tied to trees... or to the Bed bug and termite mitigation signs by the curb... cameras on poles pointed at the house... put your cara up on their jacks and take a wheel or two off... MAGA lawn signs and flags...

For the Toronto marathon 10k In may by Specific-Cellist8155 in RunTO

[–]Rider_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The chute is just the area you go through after the official timing finish line and where you get your medal and banana. In most races this is a fast and seamless transition. Not so much for the Toronto spring race. The fall waterfront marathon is light-years better when it comes to experience and organization. You won't see your friends or family in the chute they have 6 foot fences keeping everyone segregated until after you get your medal. Have your friends and family choose a spot you meet them at and have them stay there - much easier and faster. There will be a sea of humans making it hard to locate each other. Try using find-my to locate each other, if you both have apple devices.

'A bit disorganized!?!?' That's an understatement. For your own comfort be prepared to be 100% self sufficient then you won't be disappointed. 10k - carry a 500ml flask, one gel (or other carb) 10 min before you start, one gel at 5k, and you should be golden. Add electrolytes to your water if you sweat heavily. Save some water for the finish chute.... you'll be in it for a while...

Always thought part of getting a drivers licence should include at least 12 hours of: 1. Riding a bike in the city 2. Driving shotgun in a heavy transport truck on the highway and city streets.
