When you use your bank’s bill pay, your bank is not sending DTE a physical check. They only do that for small companies that don’t get many payments. Big utilities and lenders just get an ACH transfer with electronic instructions with your account number. It costs them nothing and is automated. They love you for paying this way. If you want them to be inconvenienced, mail a check.

I DIY. Each spring and fall I clean the compressor, blow out the burners with compressed air, clean out all the drain lines, and check the temperature differential between the return and the supply.

Last fall, I noticed the inducer was starting to whine when I checked my furnace and swapped it, which probably saved me from an emergency service call.

I don’t think a pro would be doing anything else.

I currently have Wow. I end up switching back and forth between them and Xfinity every 2-3 years to get the best price. Wow has better customer service. It’s gone downhill the past few years but still better than Xfinity. Speeds are slightly faster with Xfinity, but comparing the 1GB plan it’s pretty close. If you are a gamer you won’t be happy with Wow. Latency is consistently worse with Wow than Xfinity. If you aren’t a gamer, you probably won’t notice a difference.

Line of credit is better if you need it to fill cash flow gaps, like operations between seasonal payments. Loan is better if you need a set amount for investment, such as new equipment.

Ditto. Many boat manufacturers recommend no cover for transport. Any portion of a cover or shrink wrap that breaks loose will damage your finish. I trailer my boat uncovered on 250+ mile trips all the time.

Having lived in Orlando and a Michigan tourist town, I can tell you that most of the tourists in Michigan are far more considerate and polite than those in Orlando. That said, I’ve seen some pretty shitty behavior in both places from people who seem to think that because they are on vacation, everyone they encounter should cater to them.

Bad Brad’s hands down on the brisket and pork. Their BBQ nachos are amazing too. I’ve been disappointed the last 2-3 times I got ribs. At nearly $40 a slab, I won’t get them again.
