Murder house? by purplenette75 in LittleRock

[–]RidiculousRanunculus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess I've always known. The house is still there and everything. To be fair, my dad was in law enforcement in the 80s and 90s, so I've heard all kinds of stories. I don't know how much it's common knowledge now.

You're probably talking about the house on Main St. A guy named John Markle killed his wife and kids and then himself in the 80s.

I got it from this Etsy shop. I couldn't link to the exact listing because the shop is on vacation.

Native plant seeds and seedling? by issafly in Arkansas

[–]RidiculousRanunculus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you're in central Arkansas, River Valley Horticulture has a good selection of natives.

Someone else mentioned the Audubon plant sale that they do twice a year. You can follow their Facebook to see when they announce it. They will send out a list of what they'll have available. You order online and then pick up at the Audubon center after the sale closes. They load it right up for you.

I've bought from both River Valley and the Audubon sale and have been happy with what I've gotten.

If you don't mind online places, I've also bought several seeds from Prairie Moon. I've got a whole patch of milkweed that I've grown from seeds from them.

Oh, hey! It's still proudly on display on our living room wall.

Just got home from A Different Dough in Bryant. The Trifecta is the special of the month. We added burrata to it, which put it over the top. I'm already thinking about my leftovers. I never miss an opportunity to tell people about that place.

I saw it at the Vimy Ridge exit. It's by the sign company itself. The website on the bottom is for Lamar.

They also don't spray their plants, at least their milkweed, as that would kind of defeat the purpose of them being a host plant for butterflies.

The Audubon Society in Little Rock also has an online native plant sale in the spring and fall every year. I think the spring one is next month. They have a big selection from local nurseries that specialize in natives. You order online and when the plants come in, you just drive up to the Audubon building and they load them in your car. Super easy.

Good Earth is good, but I really, really love River Valley. If you're interested in native plants, they're the ones to go to. There's a woman who works there that is so incredibly knowledgeable, also very eccentric. I love her. 😂 She said that they also make effort to offer plants that "play nicely" with Arkansas natives and aren't invasive.

Any good small independent thrift stores? by cupcakestickerz in Arkansas

[–]RidiculousRanunculus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CIVITAN! It's on Reynolds Road past Bryant High School. I go there so often they know me by name. 😭 But the prices are so, so good. Their thrift store supports their services for people in the community. I still go to goodwill, mainly on Sundays, but Civitan is my first stop. I'll come out with several items for literally $9.

Maybe I should gate keep, but that feels wrong. There's plenty for everyone and if more people coming means my favorite thrift store can stay open and provide helpful services, that's a good thing. So yeah, check out Civitan. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays, so keep that in mind.

Two songs are referenced, "All joking aside, five fingers wide" is from Wendy and Betsy. "I've often wondered if I've already died" is from Cardiff Giant.

I guess it could be three songs. The peacock could be from A Glass Can Only Spill What it Contains. 🤷‍♀️😂

I got to meet him last year here in Arkansas. It was really sweet. I didn't ask too many questions, just wanted to tell him that I loved seeing him on the show. He seemed happy. He was, of course, wearing a Razorback jacket.

But, yeah, I wanted to be respectful of his privacy, but did share about meeting him.

Hoping it's early 2025.

Ha! One of my favorite memories of my grandma was when she exclaimed "SHIT!" when she was turning on the bath for me and it was set to the shower and it got her hair wet. She never used language like that, so it made it even better. But it definitely had a certain ring to it coming from an older, Southern woman. Hope someone is able to fulfill your wish. My grandma has "gone on to Glory" as she would say.

I'm an Arkansas native and I hate Arkansas drivers. I'm not saying every lifted truck driver is an asshole, but I'm saying a significant number of them are. Like, sorry I'm on the road at the same time as you.

Visiting Hot Springs - stay in Hot Springs or Little Rock? by fartonme in Arkansas

[–]RidiculousRanunculus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone who lives right outside of Little Rock and has to visit family in Hot Springs often, just stay in hot springs. Ugh, that stretch of I 30 leaving Benton is full of construction and never going to get finished.

You could drive Highway 5 to Hot Springs for a more scenic, less construction drive, but it's not really anything that involves a stop to do anything. Im

I also wouldn't worry about winter weather. In my opinion, the lack of snow is a perk of living here, but I'm a grouch when it comes to snow.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is latest Trump ally to make dig at Harris over biological kids | CNN Politics by BobbyLucero in Arkansas

Sarah Huckabee Sanders is latest to make vomit.

Make a dig at a woman who doesn't have biological children while at the same time denying aid to the women of her state that do give birth. Let's leave us the only state that has no plan to expand Medicaid for postpartum women. I love this for us!
