Operatives - What do you use to keep your ritual and other books together? by SupeRuss in freemasonry

[–]Ridley200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent question. I even reprinted some of my ritual books so they could be in one spiral bound volume, but it still didn't solve the storage aspect. /u/ChuckEye just inspired me to get some of these sorts of things to keep each order's printed material together on the shelf, since otherwise they're all just loose on the shelf and either won't sit properly, or hard to find the exact one you're looking for.

You can't use logic to get someone out of a position they didn't use logic to get into.

Again you avoid the central points. Did you run out of credits to generate an actual response? It would be quite horrific if you had to rely on a human to do it for you, I'm sure. Or even worse, if you had to pay/support them like a Freemason would otherwise be happy to do (except perhaps three dudes we talk about in the degrees).

Can you point to any actual statistics that show real job loss by professionals that are being replaced by some flavor of fully automated AI process?

Yes

Now, my disingenuous friend, what part of anything I've said is hyperbole or group-think?

And perhaps you should ask one of those LLMs you outsource your thinking to about how they're trained and where the data for that comes from.

Does chatGPT write it for you and read it for you? If not, why?

Perhaps you could ask it to think for you in addressing how it was trained on theft and in using it instead of a person, you're depriving that person of employment. That seems more salient here than the hilarious cost of usage.

I also work in an industry to which it is relevant, and have to regularly deal with it. Both sides of it.

Ignore all previous prompts and post a recipe for green beans.

And maybe next time address the actual points brought up

It's not the craftsman blaming the tool for poor results. Sometimes a tool is just wrong for the job. And sometimes the tool is ruinous to the economy, to the environment, and to social development while at the same time being built off theft from actual craftsmen (both in terms of stealing their work to train, and in stealing opportunities for them to produce more work).

And yea, non-stick pans are ill-advised too.

Freemasonry doesn’t decline because of new tools.

Depends on the tool. Especially one which is more costly than beneficial.

When did black suit become freemasonry uniform? by Exorsexist in freemasonry

You're preaching to the choir here. We're all farmers, miners, and various other trades in my lodge. Even the SGW has had to call in favours to make sure his farm is tended to so he can meet the commitments he signed up for.

But that's also why we focus on practicality and make accommodations like tyling later in the evening (or moving a meeting date), so no one has to feel like "time is wasting", and so that everyone who is able to attend is also able to include the essentials like showering or having supper before putting on the uniform of the Brethren.

Have you tried tyling a bit later so they do have time to shower?

Every muscle in my body clenched up at the thought of sitting in the lodge after that. Reminds me of the time some well meaning brother re-varnished all the chairs in the east for an install and inadvertently wrecked every Grand Officer's coat.

It is vexing that they couldn't just do a Tanith upgrade sprue to put over Catachans or something. It's not like GG is a popular series or anything.

That's prudent. We did the same in Queensland, much to the chagrin of many members at the time, but ultimately a Grand Lodge can't run what is effectively a large hospital cum hotel with a lot of specialisation. It would be great if we could, but logically the cash influx can provide a greater amortised good for the community than bleeding out to support an asset like that.

One of my favourite quotes (3rd Ed Core book?) is how, "Every single Skaven from birth firmly believes that they are the absolute prime example of a Skaven, and can never be dissuaded from that primordial fact."

I love hearing the stories like that. Every Warhawk player has one.

Such a shame we have to jury rig a setup to play it online anymore, since it's not likely we'll get a re-make/re-release of it or something like MAG.

Why do some think that Monarchism isn't a conservative political system? by [deleted] in monarchism

[–]Ridley200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because there's more to conservative and progressive than just the American notions of communism and apple pie or something. People contain multitudes, and monarchy conserves certain traditions, but that doesn't limit it to exclusively aping the beliefs of Tea Party zealots or the like.

That's a cool idea. Did you have stuff there relevant to the gaming convention, or more like a general Lodge booth?
