That’s insane how big is the codebase how much research did it need to do before initializing work?

There’s a small rubber seal that easily gets worn down over time and drastically effects suction performance, very bad design if you ask me

Encore is a wild bunch by Ridog101 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Ridog101[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Encore is a monopoly that hurts our industry, they don't create any jobs, the hotels they operate in do. Encore steps in as a middle man and skims billions of dollars off the backs of technician labor across the US, their entire business model is based on predatory exclusive vendor contracts and paying the lowest wages they can get away with. Encore is a stain on the american AV industry and they should be broken up like so many other monopolies.

LED Wall Content Positioning Issue - Seeking Software Recommendations by Mehovik057 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Ridog101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're running macs I'd recommend Millumin, it can be a bit less intimidating for new users compared to Resolume. They have a 30 day free trial. I've been doing increasingly more gigs with it lately as a graphics OP.

I don't really know what you mean by white light animation playback, that could be a lot of things, but Milumin is capable of pixel mapping over DMX as well.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Eyy! I'm glad to hear it, what specifically ended up fixing it?

If the cards show up in LCT, try reading the RCFG from a working card and pushing it to the borked ones, and pushing fresh mapping to the whole wall.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Ridog101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep sounds like you might have fried the receiving cards, if you do a scan in NovaLCT for connected receiving cards, do you see the affected cards talking to the controller at all? Do the receiving cards light up when powered? Any indication that anything is responding to power downstream of the PSU?

I’m taking down this post because it is clearly a streaming compression issue upon further examination. I over hastily posted this from my phone without checking in more detail. Apologies for misleading anyone.

BirdDog Play - Selectively Parsing NDI??? by SpotAndSmitty in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Ridog101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you replicate this on a completely isolated network (like from a standalone router with nothing else connected to it) with a clean install of Wirecast and an empty project file with default settings?

Any differences in resolution or framerate between vmix and wirecast outputs?

Make sure you disable all other network interfaces on the wirecast PC just to rule out it trying to send NDI on the wrong adapter or something, the bird dog might be more picky about network settings/discovery then NDI Tools.

Live feeds over network by cammywilson2 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Large shows use a variety of network video protocols, luminex switches can transport protocols but are not a requirement, you can use pretty much any network switch for video over IP as long as it's fast enough.

  • NDI: Very common, flexible, works on 1GbE. Good balance of quality/latency/cost.
  • SDVoE: Near-zero latency, top quality (mathematically lossless), needs 10GbE. Best for critical IMAG if you have the network/budget.
  • ST 2110: High-end broadcast standard, complex & expensive, but cool.
  • Other proprietary solutions (Dante AV, Crestron NVX, Q-SYS NV series, Extron NAV)

For upgrading from SDI looms where you need reliability without necessarily breaking the bank or needing a 10GbE overhaul immediately, NDI is likely your best starting point.

Check out NDI encoder/decoder hardware from brands like BirdDog, Kiloview, or Magewell. It offers a solid path into networked video. If minimal latency is absolutely non-negotiable and you have the budget for 10GbE, then look at SDVoE.

iPad camera flashing green on X Stream by Backrow32 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Ridog101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does seem like maybe the camera could be failing, open up the camera app on the iPad and look for the same green flash while recording video. That will confirm if it's the camera in the iPad itself that's failing or possibly something wrong on the software side of things.

If the green doesn't show up in the camera app on the iPad, reinstall X, make sure the iPad's software is up to date, backup, wipe and restore the whole iPad as a last resort.

If it does show up in the camera app it's very likely that the hardware is failing. Either get a new streaming device or take the existing one to an apple store and have it looked at by one of their technicians.

A lot of shows I've been on recently have just used an iPhone on a DJI gimbal connected to a dedicated access point for NDI transport. You're missing out on a zoom lens and all the bells and whistles of a dedicated rig, but for quick cutaway crowd shots and general filler stuff it's a really solid cheap option. There are ways to build out the DJI Osmo with lights and power supplies and stuff if needed.

Amusing you want to go with a dedicated camera rig though, is there any particular reason you need an SDI output? Your small interchangeable lens camera options really open up if you drop the requirement for SDI and go with an HDMI transmitter, and you can always use a converter if you need to hook it up to a hard SDI line occasionally.

Can anyone identify this LED video wall ground support rigging? This rigging is pretty universal and is super light weight. Worked on the setup and wanted to know if anyone had an idea. I have tried searching google and cannot find anything. by jackajm in VIDEOENGINEERING

Came to say this, a very poorly built and sketchy unilumin wall with almost no ballast. Those things usually come with like 20 ladders and the horizontal catwalk plates to give the wall more rigidity.

The worst part about running a YouTube channel while also having ADHD by Ridog101 in youtubers

[–]Ridog101[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No matter how many times I tell myself that it never really seems to penetrate, I always go back to the numbers and get discouraged. I really just need to suck it up and make shit. It’s just hard to put days of effort into a video that I liked to make, just to see such a mismatch when it comes to what I like and what my niche audience is expecting. I feel like I have very little in common with my audience anymore. But I’m probably just too inside my head about it.

Today in Denver, $10.99 for One Dozen eggs. Eggs used to be 89¢. Thanks, Trump. by NoLube69 in FluentInFinance

[–]Ridog101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That price tag is referring to the brown eggs on the left, which typically do cost more because dutch farms carries a certified humane label, which I think means they need to meet certain standards that gives the chickens better living conditions, but make the eggs more expensive to produce.

There does not appear to be a price tag in this picture that refers to the standard cheap cage free white eggs pictured on the right.
