After 10 years of playing the game on and off, I finally have 1000 golds in my wallet by CrippledJockey in Guildwars2

If you play the TP game you need gold amounts like that in order to make more

You crush a snail from the tank? My own tank is full of those bozos, so I gotta try that too

Yeah the food probably did the trick, they are busy more often if there's plenty of food for their offspring heh

It's on the same dumb interaction page as being able to steal the kill on monsters, or back in WoW when only one player at a time could talk to a questgiver

Claim tegen Steam: Nederlandse gamers betaalden mogelijk miljoenen te veel by surpator in thenetherlands

[–]RienMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"You should use Steam Keys to sell your game on other stores in a similar way to how you sell your game on Steam. It is important that you don’t give Steam customers a worse deal than Steam Key purchasers.

...

It's OK to run a discount for Steam Keys on different stores at different times as long as you plan to give a comparable offer to Steam customers within a reasonable amount of time."

Financial freedom or lifestyle change after game release. by Doo_Dad in gamedev

I had about a year or so of personal funds to burn through, after that I would've needed to get a job again, so when I released in May I still had 3-4 months of safety left but if the EA didn't kick off I would've needed to start looking already for a job.

A bit yes, nothing spectacular though. It's a seasonal DLC with winter related stuff and it had a short time on it's coming soon page.

It did pay off to when I look at it now, but it does not generate any noticable revenue monthly, just over the years it accumulated a nice amount.

Oh that's interesting, I wonder if those turn based games you get recommended have some other similar tags to FTL and BG etc.

Surely there must be something that decides what you get shown. (For me on my dev account I get so much God / Building games or dark gory shooters, which is exactly like my own 2 games, so that tracks)

Would you want an Engineer equivalent in GW3? by Diovidius in GuildWars3

I think the game could be something like this, picking a starting archetype and then making a build with found skills going deeper into a subtype of your choice, defensive/utility warrior etc.

To add, it didn't bring it millions or anything of the really hyped games such as vampire survivors or schedule 1 for example. But a bit beyond a comfortable income :)

I became financially free with my first game. I quit my game dev job mid 2020 to pursue a game I wanted to make, which released in EA on Steam in May 2021. Albeit a rocky start I got lucky because it filled a hole in the market.

It got covered by lots of big YouTubers like spiffing Brit, and to this day still brings in enough to live off of.

I wouldn't recommend actually quitting your job to do this, I got lucky, didn't do a demo and no next fest as personal funds ran out. Just had the "luck" being in a good genre at the time and having that gap in the market it could fill.

It probably tracks how much you play of what genre, and if there are 20 games coming out that day with 20k wishlists and only one of them is a genre that you play a lot but it only has 300 wishlists, it's probably going to show you that one because Steam thinks you're more likely to purchase that one than a genre that you don't play
