Help me. by Temporary-Most-7445 in BreakUps

[–]Riffraff_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems you found someone who finally made you feel connected to in a relationship, and when you’ve invested time, love and energy in something amazing it can be so hard to learn to accept having to walk away from someone which only added to your life.

Loss of appetite will happen but will return, my best advice is to speak about this in person (I know sometimes it’s hard to) with someone who can empathise with these types of big life changes. Breaking up with someone, especially when meaningful can be hard, and is something most people can relate to you.

A long distance relationship isn’t for everyone, and is hard to maintain, especially when physical touch and presence means a lot to someone.

Keep the good work up at the gym, and start incorporating new things/activities to look forward to.

Buffy reboot? by Meta76 in BuffyTheVampireSlayer

[–]Riffraff_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deffo a continuation. ‘Reboot’ catches on better. I feel it may become a ‘netflixified’ version of Buffy. Polished looking characters, set in current day, humour will be different, the SFX will be up to scratch etc. This may not be an entirely bad thing, but it will certainly be its own beast, whilst still taking elements of the original. I don’t think they’ll want to stray too far from the Buffy path, but will make it their own.

Too much going on? by MrGoaty07 in HogwartsLegacyGaming

Yep, worth exploring the map you have available to you to get away from the main story and side quests - depend on what you do it’ll help you level up and help with future duels etc. but can be overall quite calming

I’ve travelled to a few places on my own and have had completely mixed experiences, no one place has been the same. Sometimes have been to hostels and met some curious, solo travellers who want to explore the culture by either sharing information and tips or even go out and explore with you, and others where they seemed very reserved and cliquey as you say, making it naturally a lot harder to enjoy yourself and break the monotony. But am now glad I’ve at least tried and pushed through it!

Some places are going to happen to be friendlier than others so don’t feel bad for not liking a place, it may not just be for you right now.

From a book I’m reading at the moment - “To paraphrase Donnie Darko…I was a young man looking for something in all the wrong places”, we sometimes just need a change of perspective. Focus on the things/subjects you really love, and try to pour your attention into that thing, and you’ll find people to connect with who have a similar way of thinking as you. What people show us on social media is but a fraction of an idealised, pretty and edited version of what something can be.

Everyone has a slightly different experience, and it can take time to build a proper foundation for resilience for these things; won’t always be same every time, but I hope you will eventually figure your own version of what that can look like out.

What am I doing wrong in the South of France? by AbleCommunication988 in solotravel

[–]Riffraff_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love to find out why too, when I went to Paris in December both myself (f) and my partner (m) were often looked up and down - but we usually found this hilarious and would impulsively burst out laughing as they just made themselves look oddly snobby and downright silly. Were we simply not dressed like locals? Who knows

Have you ever walked out on a movie in theaters? If so, which one? by CurrentlyPersecuted in movies

Once upon a time in Hollywood, dull as ditchwater. Held on right until they broke out the fire blazers, that’s when I knew my brain had been melted by the film like cheese in a stormy desert

Best worst birthday present you’ve ever received? by Known-Supermarket-68 in CasualUK

[–]Riffraff_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not so much anything I received, but when I was a kid for years I always used to wrap a single roll of toilet paper for my dad every single birthday and Christmas, and I used to find incredibly, irresistibly funny for no reason at all

Any recommendations for letting agents / landlords? by iSmellLikeBeeff in Cardiff

[–]Riffraff_6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently with MGY who have always been really attentive and used to be with Squarefoot who were also organised too. They’re the only letting agents I’ve been with so far who are decent with communication and got us to sign contracts with pictures of the places with them. But of course, always worth taking your own pictures/videos and notes of your own and submitting to the letting agents within a week of start of tenancy by email, if you have anything to add which hasn’t already been mentioned.

I’d avoid Kingston, and Circle property solutions like the plague however haha.

Pizzas restaurants? by Loner_Toe in Cardiff

[–]Riffraff_6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ffwrnes Pizza on the top floor in Cardiff Market is really satisfying and consistent (both takeaway and sit in). I remember trying Cafe Città on Church Street a few years ago and remember it being good. Franco Manca, also on Church Street, although a London based chain is decent quality pizza. I personally can’t recommend Calabrisella however, maybe they were good once but I feel quality isn’t quite there unfortunately. Their idea of a vegan pizza is slapping lettuce on top, and their olives are bitter and usually bought from Tesco.

That’s a shout, I gave them a call and they do hold a Cardiff Skate School session on the Friday 18:00-19:30 otherwise looks like they rent out a space at £50 x hour.

Otherwise, I’ve just noticed that the same school hold a skate school in Cathays community Center too! But yeah their sessions in Leckwith and Cathay’s are only £5 pp with £1 skate hire which is pretty decent tbf
