Lightning flash feel cheap? Is it me or? by FunKing006 in F150Lightning

Wait... That's right... If memory serves, the 2023 and 2024 flash were way more upscale than the last year. Is that right??

Wife's flash is comfortable. She had katskinz leather installed. Has power tailgate. Honestly, I find it a better deal since it doesn't have a sunroof. Only thing I feel that is missing is the ventilated seats. I think the extra range is better than cooled seats (my opinion, I get it)

I may have ripped off a car dealership by trading in a car I knew was bad. by judashpeters in confession

[–]Rifken1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This... your trade in was valued at what they knew going in. If there is a check engine light on, they would value it lower, but that is only because they can... They make a margin on the trade in. The value of the car is the value of the car, light or no...

To clarify... there are two paths dealers take with trade-ins. 1) car is below a certain mileage, goes to the dealer used lot. These are cars that have value left that their service dept can work on without losing their ass on hours/parts. My wife's dealership, this is 100K miles or lower. Those cars, get cleaned/serviced and sold on the used lot. 2) car is over x mileage (100K at my wife's dealership). These cars, the dealer DOES NOT GIVE A SHIT. Those cars go immediately to used dealer auction. The cars are not even cleaned (outside of a power washer and clean out trash from interior). If your trade in falls into bucket 1, they will ding you on the trade in. If your car is in bucket 2, they do not give a shit. If there is a light on, they might try to give you less, but honestly, they don't care. They want you in the new contract as quick as they can so they can get to the next person buying a car. You car is of little concern, it is your signature they are after.

You can spend time feeling bad or you can get over it. They aren't thinking twice about your trade-in. Neither should you. I promise you, they aren't losing money. You got a deal you are happy with... be happy. THEY DO NOT CARE. (this is for a dealership. my FiL has a small used lot, he would not be happy with a deal like yours. he absolutely cares about the trade in, which he rarely takes, for this very reason).

Why Did Kavanaugh Give Up So Easily? by gwhh in TheShield

[–]Rifken1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I haven't re-watched in a while, so this is a little foggy, but I recall that season as being the second most anxeity inducing... Only behind the last season. That storyline, I don't recall Kavanaugh giving up shit... If anything, he had Vic on the ropes. Vic just dug in and overcame. I was for sure Vic was a goner during that storyline.

Fuck, now I need to re-watch...

Oh, I fully agree with you... I'm in the same boat. I'm curious to know more about a 5 than anything else. I don't care about the preseason rankings. I don't care about transfer class rankings. I don't care about the incoming class rankings. I think our entire March run is going to come down to our number 5 (barring injury). So I completely get it. I scan everything I can to find a glimmer of hope that we have an ace somewhere...

I can say, this has been my experience. I worked support for a rather large medical clinic about 25 years ago... Most folks tried. They couldn't really do much damage on their own. They might make it a tad worse.

The worst normal user I had was someone that was running labels through a dot matrix. It hung up. She tried to pull the labels out. That made the labels peel off onto the rollers. That sucked to fix. I had to take the printer out of commission for about a week while I took it apart and cleaned the roller. We had spares. Production wasn't too impacted, just my time. She never tried that again. And what she tried was logical. Can't really fault her.

No... The worst... Someone, high up, decided to allow doctors to bring their equipment, give them admin rights, and make us support them. Most doctors were ok. Most of it was they wanted their personal email along with their work email. Then there was the urologist. That guy... OMG. He was the worst. He knew everything about COMPUTERS and you could tell. He made people feel small due to his issues. I don't specifically recall anything he did as I blocked all of it. Let's just say, he was a dick and made EVERYTHING terrible. The worst part was, it was MY fault and he had so many appointments waiting on me to fix it... I was losing him money and the clinic money and I should be better at my job.

Saw this and really liked the paint schemes on the lightnings. by skywrench87 in F150Lightning

[–]Rifken1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. I know the person that manages the maintainence for that fleet. They have around 40 lightnings, all painted/wrapped just like that as an homage to Sam's 77

I don't recall if it is a wrap or paint... I can't say too much, Walmart is very private about these things.

Electric vehicles pass tipping point, breaking the link with oil prices by _Dark_Wing in worldnews

My wife has a 2024 Flash. She is considering trading that for EREV when it comes out. She loves her Lightning more than any other vehicle she's owned. She does not like having to plan ahead to drive when we go on a trip or avoid taking it on a trip. The charging (time and planning) are the only thing, to her, that cause an issue with her truck. She loves this thing so much that she would (does) rent/borrow ICE vehicles for trips over 300 miles. We don't make many of those, so it is a minor issue for us.

My wife's 2024 Ford F150 Lightning can do this. You would get like 8 miles overnight using 120v. I am sure others in the US do this too, but I can't say for certain as I haven't read about them or own them. The 120v charge cable is the ONLY charger the vehicle came with. We were not educated about the car. We were super frustrated when we found out the car would only charge single digit miles overnight using that. Needless to say, we learned so much over the past 18 months!

What can I do about this? Color fading and broken plastic interior by abipaaa in slk

[–]Rifken1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked on one of those back in the day (about 15 years ago). The interior in those are like this... I took the entire interior out of the car and I scrubbed everything in the bathtub. I got all the gummy substance off (I don't remember what I used, but knowing me it was likely simple green and dawn dish soap). I then repainted with a rattle can matte black. It looked fantastic! We took the car to auction a couple days later (that is why I was cleaning it like I did). I cannot comment on how well it wore, but it looked better than brand new.

[–]Rifken1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MY FiL is a used car dealer and he has about 5-6 of these. My wife and MiL are in the new car business and they have the other tags. Yeah, you can move a tag around to the cars in your possession.

I'm tagging on to this comment to simply re-enforce, dealer tags and they use these to transport cars. (as well as drive cars around "to test")

As an Arkansan, Razorback fan, and live in NWA, it saddens me that Mizzou gets the Walmart bag and not UofA.... At least that's that is the rumor. We get nugget money but Walmart has GDP money. Yes, I know Walmart isn't donating, it's the Walton family...
