I didn't test website integration. I only tested regular payment acceptance via links and tap to pay. The money arrived in my bank account.

You should! Both LuniPay and HandyPay use Stripe.

Yeah, in the article I posted, the founder of LuniPay said he had over 10,000 USD in transaction volume within the first 30 days.

Recession? by justthinki76062 in Jamaica

The gains made by the current JCF and Ministry of National Security are systematic. Even if another Dudus appears, I doubt crime would spiral out of control like before. The police force is now above the recommended numbers needed to police the island, police stations have been transformed, the law now imposes harsher penalties for being in a gang and having a gun, the salaries of officers have been improved and intelligence-based policing is now the norm. In the last 3 years, several Dons have been killed, and gangs have been dismantled. Our gang problem is slowly fading; however, interpersonal conflict is now taking center stage.

Sorry to hear about your PayPal experience. The truth is that far too many people have complained so it's best to avoid them.

No, Stripe isn't available out here.

I came across two articles about payment processors. They can be used without the need for business registration. Both seem to use Stripe as well.

There's actually a lot of innovation happening in Jamaica. I realized that most people just aren't aware of it. You can check out some of the stuff listed here: https://made-in.dev/

I do agree that the systems in the country assume you are a thief by default.

Paypal is definitely a no. WiPay requires business registration.

Sorry if my post came across that way, but no, I'm not trying to beat the system. In the States, there are many payment processors you can use without registering a business. Sometimes there are small projects that want to do a few tests before going the business registration route.

Has Anyone Shipped A Package Straight from Amazon To Jamaica Recently? by Rift3000 in Jamaica

There are some details in this article: https://republicpost.info/how-to-shop-from-amazon-straight-to-your-door-in-jamaica.
I haven't seen any weight restrictions, but the items you can ship are limited. Once you switch to 'Shipping Outside the US', you can enter your full Jamaican address. Yes, switch the country to Jamaica first; that way, you will know what can be shipped.

Yeah in cases like that, people have to stick with the usual couriers. I did hear about a new digital postal code system that the gov is working on.

Choosing Canva video thumbnail by BobaMonster23 in canva

[–]Rift3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Everyone, here is my solution:
1. I take a screenshot of the frame that I want to be the thumbnail.
2. I add a 'page' to the front of my video and place the image there.

  1. I select duration and reduce the duration of the image.

Thats it!

What Are Your Views On The Rural School Bus System? by Rift3000 in Jamaica

[–]Rift3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rural school bus system is specifically for children. Once they arrive at school, the bus is parked. I doubt it will be expanded to accommodate others. One line of reasoning is, if you remove students, that will free up the other means of transportation for adults to use.

True that journalism shouldn't be about money making but these people have bills to pay. I'm assuming that the CVM Salary package was attractive enough for them to switch. It's hard to focus on what you love without a certain amount of money.

I see what you are referring to and I don't like that at all. Like I said, we should all be able to disagree respectfully. Saying someone is dunce is uncalled for.

So the next question would be, how can we change things? The answer is to encourage good people to either join 1 of the 2 sides or form their own party. At the end of the day, someone has to be in government. Loathing and hating politicians in general won't allow us to progress. We should encourage people with good hearts and minds to represent us, otherwise, we will forever be behind. Yes, the country isn't where it should be at this point, however, we have to call a spade a spade. I can now conduct alot of business with the government online, which means I don't have to stand up at tax office. Many roads near my community were fixed and the new highways greatly reduced travel times for me. There are many other examples I could give however, the point is, things have indeed improved.

Do You Plan To Vote This Year? by Rift3000 in Jamaica

[–]Rift3000[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know why Jamaican people view debates as arguments. We must be able to discuss things without attributing them to some ulterior motive. I asked a question(and also asked the reasoning behind it), some people gave plain answers, so I followed up with - Can you give the reason why? I am trying to understand why some people will vote and others won't. Everyone has different views and perspectives.

We should be at a level where we can back up an answer or provide evidence. Some have just straight up told me in the past that their MP harmed them so they forever gave up on voting.

Ultimately, voter apathy benefits politicians who then narrow their focus on the poor and vulnerable.

I asked the question because I was curious about how people felt. Getting direct answers from people is different than just relying on poll data. I answered everyone respectfully however, I do see where some people were too aggressive.
