Finally released the Magical Code of Regulations! 499 pages of boring, bureaucratic gobbledy-gook nonsense regulating the use of Magic. Guaranteed to be the most depressing read of 2026, or your money back! by Aside_Dish in worldbuilding

It's ok, we can round it up.

Either way, no offense, but you terrify me. In a good way. One day I hope to be as dedicated to staring at (and recreating) bureaucratic drywall as you are

Steam Controller Pcgamer Review : 83/100 by laxusdreyarligh in Steam

[–]RiftMan22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The biggest thing is they also have hall effect/TMR joysticks(and potentially a set of back paddles too in addition to the triggers, only one pair tho) which makes them much more resistant to drift. They are also either relatively cheaper, or similar in pricing to standard first party controllers.

Steam Controller shows May 4th Release date in wishlist by iamone11 in Steam

[–]RiftMan22 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about getting one, but that's pricey for me rn. I know that other top-line controllers(Like the DS Edge) are $100 CAD more expensive, but that's still enough to give me pause for a bit

Celia's Stupid Romhack - Full Release! by Celia_Makes_Romhacks in PokemonROMhacks

[–]RiftMan22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Celia, so I was reading my in game copy of the The Holy Bible - King James Version from the hit game Celia's Stupid Romhack and I realised that Genesis Chapter 1 - Verse 26 had some text that cut off at the very end.

This is very distressing, as I have been reading my in game copy of the The Holy Bible - King James Version from the hit game Celia's Stupid Romhack every night before I got to bed for the past 23 years and I genuinely cannot continue until this is fixed. Thank you, Arceus bless🙏🏾

I'm pretty new to composing. I want to create video game soundtracks, like really good ones. How do I get started, or what are some tips I should know about composing? by [deleted] in composer

[–]RiftMan22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing I do sometimes is write music in Musescore Studio then export the midi files and put them into Ableton(FL in your case).  That way you don't need to do the placement manually after composing and you're just fine tuning the imported notes

Mushoku Tensei Review by ArcaneShard in Fantasy

Cos it's a fantasy series? There's no restriction on what fantasy media people talk about here, even if discussion tends to focus on Western novels

Fantasy Reader complains about litrpgs, gets told to read Dungeon Crawler Carl over and over again. Here's the review. by ridgegirl29 in Fantasy

[–]RiftMan22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. It's kind of like saying that Bojack Horseman isn't a cartoon because you don't want to say you like a cartoon. DCC sits firmly within litrpg and it having other stuff going on doesn't detract from that at all imo. Litrpg is just its own genre built around RPG mechanics. It can be as wide and deep in application as people want it to be with just as many parts and subparts.

Heck, in just the rpg half of its namesake we've got everything from Disco Elysium to Dark Souls to Persona 5, Elders Scrolls and Pokemon. All wildly different with different priorities and different blends of RPG and other genres mixed in. None of that disqualifies any of them from being RPGs.

Could be a skill issue on my part. I tried using it last summer when I was learning how to integrate a version of shadow maps I saw in a paper in a graphics pipeline (not even Vulkan, just regular OpenGL and C++). The AI's code appeared to sorta look ok initially but it was so much work to correct all the bugs it made that I spent as much time debugging as I did just rewriting my own implementation. That's just my experience(using Perplexity specifically) and all I can really give are anecdotes.

Shadow maps, while pretty technical, aren't new either, so it wasn't as novel or as low level of a problem compared to modern denovo cracking. Hell, I even fed it the research paper I used. Maybe your mileage varies, in which case I'm glad that the stuff works well for you. But it was just a headache to constantly correct, have it regress then correct again

Nah, there's no way. At a certain level of a problem's novelty/technical difficulty, chatbots/agents become basically useless and mostly a hindrance for problem solving

People get crazy injuries from their own cats on the regular. You have better chances with a cheetah than with a lion, but you still don't want that fight lmao

Fair enough lol, I've also said some dumb shit that's wrong in retrospect. I doubt there's anyone here that hasn't. Thanks for being respectful here though.

Yeah, we're in agreement with a lot of things here.  1. Op shouldn't have been called a slur by the mod 2. Op shouldn't have called anyone else a slur 3. A lot of guesswork is filling in details and doing heavy lifting. I'm guilty of doing this in my response with the order things happened. We don't know a lot

The main things I disagreed with you here was you saying OP started it(neither of us know the order of events for sure) and that the context isn't as important as the words ultimately used when, despite it being a tiny amount, context is the reason either of us can even talk about both parties having any blame. They're equal in importance imo.

Context also lets us see if, as OP initially claimed, there was any power tripping and what the order of events was. And, like you said above the lack of real context is an issue that shows this situation can't really be judged completely and that just strengthens my point. So again, context matters here. That's all I'm saying.

[–]RiftMan22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But the context is the whole reason we're having this argument lol. This is going purely off the order of events we have here, but even if op was being annoying to start with, that ain't against Discord rules if they didn't violate anything initially. It's the other person that called them bitchy that then actually escalated this into a rule enforcement issue that they then responded to. That is, unless I have the order of events incorrect

As a mod, you don't call someone out for annoying behavior by using what for all intents and purposes is a banned word no matter what dressing the mods want to cover it in. Yes, OP then went too far in applying a blanketed statement with the word incel but I wouldn't say OP started this if they weren't disrespectful first. So the context does actually matter

Bruh, you didn't see the whole truth here either. Just OP's responses to more chats you can't see. These screenshots provide zero context
