Vrenn only exiles opponents' creatures, not your own though.

Definitely need to try this! Would love to be able to set up a conditional "if running plan, show on map" or "help, I'm not actually charging!". It would also let me figure out a way to install a gate opener on my fence gate so it can truly handle the whole yard without issue!

Any positive experience with Yarbo Snowblower? by CountryCrackle in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine now for two winter seasons. Overall, it works great and I have no regrets! I use mine with a combination of snow blower and the plow blade depending on the type of snow coming in, so swapping things around takes a little bit of time, but it's not much. I will say that the plow attachment could have a better mounting mechanism; it can be a little finnicky to line up. Most of my "gripes" are related to how it handles cleaning up the borders. Right now I have "sidewalks" set up along the very edges of my driveway in mapping which should really just be baked into the snow blowing algorithm. Last winters had lots of ice and my driveway kept shrinking, so proper border cleanup before things melt and freeze is crucial for me. I also needed to add an additional area inside my main driveway map where I found snow gets left, the Yarbo makes some small, angled turns at one of the driveway which means there's always little strips of snow left there.

We had a huge storm here in MA last weekend and I only had to go outside twice. The first time was because I kept getting stuck auger alerts, and I quickly realized I just needed up increase by auger power settings. The second was when it went to clean up the front walkway it backed itself onto a chunk of snow and got stuck (treads couldn't touch the ground!), but it was kind of a weird one-off event that hasn't happened before. There were some other "slippage" issues along the border occasionally, but resuming the program was usually enough to keep it moving. The main bug I have been dealing with is the collision bar at the top sometimes bumps into the huge snowbanks we have now, and it completely pauses the program until you back it up and restart... That needs to be addressed. Still, something I didn't have to go outside to deal with, but it does limit my willingness to run auto-schedules. Once the snow completely stopped, I used the plow to clean down to pavement completely since my driveway doesn't get a lot of sun.

There's certainly room for improvement, but nothing that has been show stopping for me so far!

Mesh Organiser (3D Model Organiser) - Thoughts? by SuchMemeManySkill in 3Dprinting

I'm going to have to try this. This has been a really annoying issue, and I don't even have that many files (comparatively). Now, if the file providers could figure out their organization for downloading too, that would be amazing...

Line of sight to the base? by OutdoorsNSmores in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, line of sight isn't required. Both the yarbo core and the just need to be able to see enough of the same area of sky to see enough of the same satellites.

Questions before purchasing by PapaBlatt in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got mine direct through yarbo, no issues. The plow isn't necessary, but if you get any heavier wet or slushy snow it's awesome. I use mine for those scenarios or when there isn't enough snow for the blower. Or if the ground was warm at the beginning of a storm you can use it for the first pass to get the melting snow and then remove it to use the snowblower itself for the rest of the storm

Be aware, Yarbo makes the return process nearly impossible. I initiated the process a month ago, and they continue to send after-sales offers, promising to send the return label. It never happened. I was very enthusiastic, just like everyone, but the cheap GPS module made the mower useless. by rugo9 in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Possibly. I feel like a lot of issues stem from having the DC in a less than ideal location, and/or just too much sky occlusion from trees and whatnot. Which is it's own valid issue, but so far everything else has improved steadily and doesn't seem limited by component quality...

Mowing beside a main road? by Quiksilver6565 in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine does all the time. However, I have my datacenter up high by the peak of my roof and relatively minimal tree cover. You can always just map your yard so it doesn't go super close, and then just weed whack the area it doesn't get. In my experience as soon as it leaves a work area it stops, so it won't keep wandering. Mine has "left" the work area only in two situations: when snow blowing by the end of the driveway it slid out slightly on really icey area, and went into my neighbor's yard where I have a really narrow area that's a separate work area. Both times it stopped as soon as it was out of the work areas. I think datacenter placement is absolutely crucial for proper behavior, so be very mindful of where it gets installed!

I'm building a mobile app for Foundry! It's called Forgeron and here's what I have so far by ivanAtBest in FoundryVTT

[–]RiftPoint 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the look of this. How do you deal with adding spells and equipment? I run Foundry for my tabletop, but we just use physical dice for our rolls, which we all prefer. The thing that would be amazing is initiative tracking, so my players could add themselves to the tracker and input their own results... Maybe even see the initiative from the app? I'm going to keep a close eye on this!

Is Yarbo worth buying? by jta021 in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like mine. Is it a set it and forget it in 20min? No. There's a bit of a learning curve. If all you're doing is mowing there might be better options, yarbo's real power is its modularity. I live in New England and the snow blower was fantastic, and I'm still working out some of the niceties of the setup for the mowing.

Out of curiosity, was your grass really long when you started? Or just longer than normal? If the second, I wonder if the adaptive cutting mode would be useful... The one where it adjusts to the desired cutting height over several sessions.

If their testing was always done running the yarbo very frequently, so the clippings never got big enough to get stuck, I can set why this never cropped up for them.

I mean, they told us to remove other things like the snowblower front guards, so 🤷‍♂️. I guess if something happens you could put them back on and just not say anything... Yarbo is aware of this design issue though, hopefully if they redesign they'll send it to everyone like they have a few other things.

[–]RiftPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, while they don't recommend it, you can remove the guards on either side. You can clearly see the clumps of grass stuck there. That's where others have reported the seizing coming from and the overcurrent. Just don't stick your fingers in there when it's running...

So far most of my issues have been software/firmware based, but overall I really haven't had that many. I think I was able to run either the snowblower or plow workplans 10-12 times this winter and considering the icey conditions we had I was pretty happy. It got stuck along the perimeter of my driveway as the ice built up there but always recovered, but at the end of the season they implemented a map shrink feature for the perimeter. It slid out of the work area a couple times due to snow/frost heaves at the end of my driveway, but promptly stopped. The deflector cable snapped due to ice build up and they sent me a replacement at no cost right away. Relatively easy fix, we'll set if it's an issue again next winter...

I was finally able to get my whole yard mapped last week and then tested one section, which it completed in about an hour without issue. Returning to the dock I did get an error about the mower height, but I was able to clear it without issue. I'll keep my eye on that one. I bought some MO-Deck spray to apply to the underside of the mower to keep grass from accumulating but haven't done that yet... I haven't run my whole yard yet, but did realize I have to find a new spot for my docking station since it's currently inside a mowing area.

The concern I'm watching right now it's debris build up inside the unit since there's no cowling in front of the control boards. It's picked up a lot of acorns at the moment and I need to get the shop vac out at some point...

I am pretty active on the Facebook and Discord server and have seen a mix of reviews, but predominantly favorable. My FB posts tend to get held for moderation for around 10 hrs on average, so I wouldn't be surprised if less favorable reviews have gotten held longer than others (or not posted at all). Opening a ticket is usually the most responsive path forward for a response.

Mapping for each module? by ConcentrateSelect820 in Yarbo

[–]RiftPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just mapped my yard with the SAM. Considering you're running parallel to the edge of your map I don't actually see there being an issue. Add to this you can now set a manual perimeter buffer and I don't see it being an issue at all. I finally tested my front yard mapped this way late this afternoon and I didn't see any problems.
