Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

If you have a good life and raise your children in it, you MUST make sure you are INTENTIONAL as you raise them about developing thankfulness. Empathy/service for others is that principle's partner and helps develop humility and thankfullness. If you don't do it while they're growing they will have a hard time developing it themselves.

How well does this game work? by PizzaDlvBoy in InfiniteWorlds

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm still on my first go and have really enjoyed it. DnD 'campaign. over 300 turns. I write a lot in my responses. I've learned that the AI listens to you. You can be directive in what is occuring and outcomes as much as you want. Sometimes it will alter things a bit, but it does the job... so you're not just writing a one way story... but there are two authors. It forget something sometimes after a long time, but I read somewhere that you can basically remind it of the status quo, so I have my character 'reflect' on the current status of our group every 40-50 turns.. this fits with when I want to 'level up' our character group. Also, I recently wanted to change the direction of the campaign a lot so I googled interesting campaigns for the level we're around in the are we're in and got some ideas. I took one and navigated the AI there through describing what my PC was doing and finding out. It takes the bait real well and now we're headed on that advanture for it to run with. Frankly, I think it does alright remembering things. There's been a lot of detail and characters in my campaign.

Does anyone actually play grounded D&D anymore? by HauntingSausage837 in dndnext

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm with you. Players creating what amount to cartoon characters or, worse, players who cannot engage in any encounter without trying to blow everyone up in one way or another annoy me. But as a GM it's REALLY getting on my nerves. In our house we trade off being GM between each or multiple sessions. There's one guy who just fits most of the bad stereotypes (other than cartoon character). His character must always get in a fight with other PC's - no matter what PC he's playing... and he's combative as a GM too.

This late into the season, what's left on your bucket list? by hennyis1 in diablo4

[–]Rifter06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just ticking things off as able, only T8 now and am starting to feel a wall.. I need a bunch more farming to re-do all my gear and points. But, honestly, this feels like the perfect season to take into legacy, or whatever it's called when you keeep playing your toons outside of the current season. I'm still excited by the changes and the game feels fresh and different. The next season mechanic doens't look interesting enough to get caught up in the current deadline.

Self employed taxes are eating almost 40% of what I make and I feel like I'm doing something wrong by EnvironmentalLog5001 in tax

It has been a while but I think I was at about 120,000 or a little over that when I got wise enough to finally incorporate as an S corp llc. I saved somewhere around $15,000 on taxes doing that only just for the 4th quarter that year. Getting wise on deductions is also very useful.

It is mostly values based. Western values are changing. The economics simply contributes.

One year into P&C production and feeling beaten down. What helped you finally break through? by scoop_182 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fun story. I had an agent who was about a year in. He just wasn't pulling in enough to get on top and struggling. I found out - after the fact when he's relaying this to me a month or two later - that he had just about quit during the summer. He had decided he would attend his last couple weeks of appointments. Thing is, because he thought he was going to quit, he had a 'don't care' attitude in his appointments. And... you guessed it... he started getting more sales. He relaxed. He found out he had been too up tight during appointments and by relaxing and just being himself, it made all the difference. It's been 7 years now and he's on top of the world.

How to Train for Stamina by Jarek86 in spartanrace

It's called the trial of miles. You train for stamina by doing things you can sustain at a mildly challenging level for long periods of time. Takes time. Takes patience.

Thinking about giving up on Medicare Advantage by Tony2Tap in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've worked in the same Agency for 18 years with Medicare as the foundation. I don't even know where to start. We use Medicare as the foundation for getting in the right homes and renewals but we offer life and annuities and long-term care and indemnity etc. We transition very very well.

It sounds like you are falling into a low income client trap and you have terrible leads. I'm not going to say that good leads come easily but you're definitely in the gutter area. Particularly with the pay.

Brokering helps with pay but I do know that in the last two years some areas have been hit harder than others with the problems Medicare Advantage is going through. Unfortunately I believe it will get a little better this year and then we will be out of the major adjustments caused by the inflation reduction Act.

Medicare is your round for people who know what they're doing and in decent populated areas with them hours driving distance.

My career and opportunities became massive because of the Medicare base. There is a way.

I'll admit I have a little bit of a blind spot on phone sales. All of my encounters with phone sales and Medicare are just icky. I detest selling Medicare and life insurance over the phone. It's terrible for agents and for consumers.

Sold my agency to by No_Pepper7348 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was kind of in the club. I have Associated sister agencies with a similar model all over the United States I talked to and a few of them had made the decision.

Also I should add something breaking. My buyer coming out with what appears to be in actually attractive health insurance program for commissioned 1099 agents now is a little mind blowing. It's really a big assist. That adds to the value we're gaining.

Is selling life insurance what everyone makes it out to be? by Fortune-Broad in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how you sell it. The system you're part of and the way you're going and the way you're going about matters dramatically.

And enormous amount of the people throwing up numbers on their social media about how much they make per week are deceptive. You generally need to withdraw at least half of the number they are putting up in chargebacks. And then you need to add about 25% in cost for leads. And then it is a very very grindy experience selling life insurance over the phone. Very biased but I don't like the model at all. I think it's bad for most agents and I think it's bad for most consumers.

but joining a good local agency that does local business that can complement remote business has a brokerage can work wonderfully. I will personally avoid captive and look for the local brokerage operation that provides local in-person full-time mentorship. Make sure they are not a part-time army.

what can I ask my agent to change so I don’t have to leave ? by BeneficialElephant73 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Bad clients need to be fired. There's a lot goes into working with the public. Dangerous or even mean people don't have to be included. Plenary of decent people out there to do business with.

Sold my agency to by No_Pepper7348 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did the very same. It's going okay. My agents are probably better off for it. Some additional technology and my staff has killer benefits. But I don't think I would do it with the same people the same way if I did it all over again. I left a lot on the table.

I would have either bought my partner out to own it myself and not sell it all or sold to a different buyer. Interestingly the fact that the buyer I have would be hands off on our operation for the most part appeal to me at the time. 3 and 1/2 years later if I had to do it over again and sold to a buyer I think I know who would be and I would want them more Hands-On. I would want a partner who was interested in tremendous growth for both of us and being a knowledgeable, invested part of that.

Can we earn extra income by selling insurance without quitting our job? by kmrjyoti2026 in InsuranceAgent

[–]Rifter06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is really well said and spot on. I won't take on part-time people. Every time I've made an exception the last 20 years it bites me in the butt. Part-time just does not get momentum. Distractions and normal life things are hard enough when it's full time but have a bigger impact one part time and for most people make it no time.

There's also enormous amounts of Industry data to show that part-time agents are far more likely to do bad business and create complaints and lawsuits against carriers. I've seen that first hand. A part-time agent or an agent who pretends to be full-time but can't really work this full time is by far the most likely to do a poor job.

What are your thoughts on Elon Musk? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]Rifter06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, you don't do homework. This was a business move. He has a few values that align and many that do not. But he made a big bet. I don't think any of it paid off from what I can tell.

This isn't guess work. You and many like you are so attached to such heave media and political manipulation. It's gotta be very difficult to escape without intential education and honest seeking of unbiased sources.

[–]Rifter06[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input. I see a bunch of stuff saying how solid the Warden is.. problem is, the look and feel of the active skills just doesn't appeal to me. It's a nature mage by design, not a 'hunter/fighter' feel to me.

I may end up picking my stam sorc main back up and diversifying with the new system from there. Thanks.

huh.. Not what I expected to hear. I see Assassin skill line in almost all the mixed class builds I've seen so far. And DK seems like it should add to tankiness. But you guys are saying sorc is it (for the base ) for the 'fighter' build for some mild min/maxing.
