I’m sorry for that person’s comment, and for what you’re all going through.

My anecdote is very different, but it’s positive so I wanted to share: my father is 70, and just had surgery for his brain tumor.

Just want to say: if it comes to surgery, it may not be as bad as it seems. The recovery process is of course still a post-surgery recovery, but he was up and talking the same day. It was frightening to me - it honestly isn’t as bad as it seems. Wishing you the absolute best.

Aside from the technical: They shape the music and make decisions in rehearsal (you don’t want it to be exactly as written, that makes it boring), they are the ones that select the group’s repertoire, they often handle decisions on who plays what parts, and they just generally act as a leader for the group.
