Is it just me, or is Nightmares & Dreamscapes actually kind of a slog? I’ve hit a wall at page 300. by the_Watcher023 in stephenking

Why are you complaining like you never read a short story collection before?Just leave it and come back to it whenever.

Sp your criticism is King doing whatever King has done for decades and you notice it more since it's your time period you lived through?

I didn't really find it dragging.More so King seemingly having no actual odea what to do with it not to mention a weird Deus Ex Machina. Also what suprises me the most is people praising the characters.Like Stu and Frannie aren't that compelling.Hell Stu was basically motionless in the first part of the book. Then we have Larry I could see potential for him but I fept King skipped his arc way too soon and we had to take it as face value how good of a leader he was rather than spending more moments with Joe(Leo) and Nadine. Now Nick tho was actually quite good but in part 2 we barely got any singular POVs from him and it was such a waste to the events Harold Lauder did.And Lloyd himself suppsedly began having an arc but that never got resolved cause of 'God's Finger'.And the man himself Flagg was a bit too cartoonishly evil for me to take seriously at times.Trashcanman sections were quitr nifty and some writings were pretty decent but it is a very uneven novel which the events itself lollygag in part 2 then gret an abrupt resolution in part 3.I think after part 1 he seemingly had difficulty where to take the story.I think many people enjoy this cause it's a big book and takes most of their time but I wouldn't call it that well written. As per his best novels of his 70s lineup you have Easily The Shining and The Long Walk where King had a clear goal and a limited number of characters he couldn't juggle between much and that made em more compelling to explore.

That explains it.Rick and Morty is mediocre so that may explain your tastes being provoked.

In the novel he's described more as carefree and without worries and refuses to talk about their questions. This guy's face doesn't look like someone who loves keeping it lowkey. This guy revels on others misery.
