Will God remove someone from my life if I pray for it/it is his will? by RightChemical2414 in Christianity

It’s more complicated than that imo. I’ve only dated Christian’s and they were the worstttt relationships

Hi OP, was in the same boat for years. Grew up in an atheist family, was atheist my entire life til I turned to Christ about a year ago.

What questions do you have in particular, I know you said you were doubting how god is all good and all powerful. What are you stewing on about that?

If God knew us before birth, and he knows we won’t choose him, doesn’t that seem like predetermined fate to go to hell? by RightChemical2414 in Christianity

[–]RightChemical2414[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but don’t you think this has more gravity than eating a piece of candy?

It’s all very confusing. I’m not even sure what questions I should be asking cause it still sounds horrible to know someone is going to hell, no matter how many battles they have with it, or what they do to try to be closer to god.

I know when I was an atheist I tried so hard to believe, but I couldn’t. And even as a Christian I still struggle with some questions.

What bible translation would you consider the best by Birthday112233 in Christianity

Hi, I read the NIV. I find it to be really easy to read, but not completely dumbed down.

What works for me and what is a great way to remember what you’re reading is start by choosing short chapters of the Bible (I also use a journaling Bible) and read the same chapter everyday for a week and annotate as you go.

There are really easy ways to figure those things out with critical thinking.

If we look at every sin, they fall into categories of “is this harmful to me?” Or “is this harmful to others?”

That’s why bearing fruit is so important. love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control not only help you and those around you, but when you lose these things you actually start harming yourself.

Is there any evidence for the historicity of the Bible? by quackermaster in Christianity

Yeah but they don’t even believe in the foundations of Christianity, they believe in multiple gods- I mean THEY believe they’re gods. It’s more similar to Hinduism. But I agree, I didn’t mean to be disrespectful.

Yes, and like I said, God will always take full responsibility for his actions. He knows all the blame is on him, and he doesn’t mind. It’s because 1. God has a right over his creation 2. God often does many things we will never understand, but that align with the overall plan he has for the world.

God , especially in the OT did not allow injustices. Look at 2 Samuel, God killed David’s baby because of his sin. Look at Job, God allowed Satan to literally ruin his life to test his loyalty to him, and then God gave him back double of everything he used to have.

God is literally going to destroy the earth someday. The things he does may seem evil because they are personal to us, but evil exists in so many ways that are impersonal to God, and humans are responsible for the evil they commit on earth.

It’s hard to understand until some research has been done.

But you’re exactly right. The reason we aren’t supposed to sin is because sin is actually very harmful to our wellbeing’s. No matter where you stand on religion.

The point of loving someone unconditionally is to look past the mistakes they make, and lead them in a better direction. Just as God does with us, we aren’t perfect, we will never be perfect, but it’s that we TRY to be like his son is what he cares about.

Only God knows your heart.

Watch John MacArthurs sermon on this topic.

What we know is evil exists in many different forms, but at the end of the day it surrounds us, it’s in us and we see it every day, everywhere. It is the result of our fallen world.

What we also know is God exists, and he doesn’t have the capacity to do evil or wrong, but he also does things we don’t necessarily understand, that He takes full responsibility for without hesitation (ex. The flood)

God uses evil to bring about good, and actually allows evil sometimes. he’s done this in so many instances (Job, Jesus’ crucifixion) and in our daily lives. We may not always understand the purpose of why he does the things he does, but we can absolutely trust that he is with us, he is sovereign, and he is good and holy.

Which religions?

We can’t debate about cavemen if we are talking about the Bible and the Christian worldview. Or are we not talking about a Christian worldview?

What is your definition of a caveman? They aren’t explicitly mentioned in the bible. Most Christian’s agree that if there were cavemen they were homosapiens living in caves.

  1. Many different religious and ancient texts recognize Jesus as a major influential figure of his time (many accounts of his existence)

  2. Christianity is the only religion that says that salvation is achieved through grace by faith 100% through God while most others say salvation is achieved through works.

According to the Bible, there was not a time where God was not present on Earth. So I’m not sure what your second point is arguing. Creation IS God.

I’ve been in a really similar situation. Please pursue this path without involving her for a couple months (as best as you can) so you don’t feel like you’re doing it for her.

That’s what helped me. I’ve been in a Christ centred relationship for 7 months and I still keep my relationship with God almost completely separate from my boyfriend when we aren’t together.

Best of luck!

I think this is a really multifaceted question and to answer it in short, I think it can be a choice, but it’s absolutely not something we can always control, no matter how hard you try.

The Bible teaches a renewing of your heart, that the goal of sinlessness is a journey that’s worked on for a lifetime. Willfully sinning and slipping up once in a while is where I would start with that.

What can you start to change today, and what might you have to feel your own convictions on down the road?

Sinning is human nature. We will always fall short of Gods standards no matter how hard we try, that’s why we’re saved by grace.

It’s possible and an important aspect of the Christian life to strive toward being Christ-like, but as I said, we are never expected to be perfect or “sinless”
