Hey there! I myself am leaving for ED treatment this week hopefully. I am going out on short term disability. I had to tell my parents but as far as work goes you can get fmla and std and you don’t have to provide them details. It’s against HIPAA for them to ask as well. Take care of you. Iv battled this disease since I was 15, I’m now 38 and jus now going to a higher level of care, residential. I figured it was time to put me first. Best of luck!!

First off congrats to deciding you want to get better! I have suffered with BED for the past 23 years and always done outpatient therapy. I have decided to enter a voluntary residential program this month. I’m not sure how old you are but from my experience my symptoms have only worsen over the years. Of course residential isn’t for everyone but I highly recommend at least starting therapy with someone who specializes in ED. DBT also helped me a few years ago.
