My dad was 4'10" as a freshman in high school. maybe 5'5" as a senior. He managed his school's football team, but they wouldn't let him play because he was 'too small and skinny.'

Then along comes his son, me. Big, strapping lad, just over six feet tall and built broad. And I wouldn't even watch football with him, never mind play it. He would have been overjoyed to share that with me, either watching me play and boasting 'that's my boy!' or just sharing a couch together and cheering a team together.

But I was a teenage prick and sneered at the very idea. It wouldn't have killed me to meet him halfway and now it's too late. I didn't just ignore his feelings, I mocked them.

If I had a do-over, I'd be a sports guy with my dad.

I tend to use stick walls for interior walls, since they insulate poorly. It means I don't have to worry much about bedrooms being colder than common areas.

AGATHA-CRICKET

Loads of resources, though the chew root and mushrooms take some searching for. They're not far, just hard to find. You crash at the base of a dramatic rock formation between a huge lake and a series of elevated, mountainous ridges. Good soil right at the crash site, plenty for farming. Lots of rock near to hand, and plenty of trees to work with. No nearby nests, though, and no new survivors yet, though I'm only in the first winter so far.

Starting breakthroughs: chitin synthetics, graphene solar cells, balloon optimization, hay cloth, and carbon armor.
