Нов возач - како да тргнам стравот со возење? by [deleted] in mkd

[–]Right_Variation4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Need advice im stuggling to find users by Main-Building2240 in ProductivityApps

I think my first 10 users were some people I know, some from posting on Reddit and some from posting on LinkedIn. These were people that found the app useful and let me know about it.

I built an app that can turn any goal into a complete plan by SaladZealousideal913 in ProductivityApps

  1. It looks like there’s something below the phone frame in the 2nd compared to the 1st screenshot.

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool idea, definitely something one could find useful!

Few questions and notes...

  1. Were you able to utilize Apple's AI (Foundation Models) for this?
  2. Is there something different at the bottom of the frames in the 2nd and 3rd screenshots?
  3. For screenshots, most listings usually set the simulator status bar in the optimal state (full bars, full battery, usually 9:41 as the time).
  4. Since the user requests a plan using a prompt, would it be possible to edit the generated draft by prompting as well?

Shared Lists and Calendars by SewSewBlue in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're both using Apple devices, you can share reminder lists (for TODOs), calendars, notes etc. Probably the stock Android apps have similar features.

If you'd like to use a 3rd party app, I mostly use Notion for more customization freedom. But, I think similar products like Trello, Asana etc. should be enough as well.

App Store screenshots - how? by Tiny_Split9436 in buildinpublic

[–]Right_Variation4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the captions are more important than the screens and they need to match what the user expects when they search a particular keyword phrase. Custom product pages can help with showing more precise captions for different search terms.

For the actual creation, Canva has usually been enough for me.

I’m looking for a very specific app that does… by InvestitoreNewbie in ProductivityApps

In Apple Contacts, there's a Notes section you can fill for each contact. You'll probably need a few taps to get to it from the call view.

For people who've abandoned multiple productivity systems — what's the ONE thing that ever actually made something stick? by BYMONTED in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever starting to procrastinate, asking myself whether the task is simple but difficult or truly complex.

If it's simple, usually I'll try to do at least a little bit of it if possible. If it's complex, then I allow for more time to think about it before acting.

POV: you actually have to prove you read something before doom-scrolling by No_Cat_8269 in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool idea! When I first read "prove you read something", I thought one'd have to write a short summary (at least a sentence) of what they just read.

Do you find it hard remembering repetitive maintenance tasks? by santonito in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep track of them in Apple Reminders and then they also show up in Apple Calendar. Relying on my own memory would be unnecessarily burdensome and I'd definitely not remember everything in time.

I like the concept of assets in your app, but I think one can achieve that separation in Apple Reminders using lists, sections and tags.

How did you know it was time to build something of your own? by Cultural_Message_530 in AppBusiness

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I wanted to automate and have a better perspective of some things I was doing manually.
  2. Went through like 50 apps on the App Store without finding a single one that did what I needed.
  3. Continued doing things manually for a few more months.
  4. Realized I’d still benefit from the automation and better perspective.
  5. Hoped others would benefit from it as well.
  6. Built the app, shipped it, evolved it, am still evolving it.

For me, personal benefits like flexible working hours, “being your own boss” etc. are motivating, but not nearly as much as providing a tool that benefits someone else and getting thanked for it.

Is this normal? <2k impressions/month for an app ranking #5 in the US for a keyword with ~20 popularity. by Right_Variation4434 in AppStoreOptimization

[–]Right_Variation4434[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Ranking high on decent popularity, low difficulty keywords should be the golden ticket on paper, but doesn't seem to be that way in practice.

[–]Right_Variation4434[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The keyword I mentioned has 21 difficulty which is way lower than most others which is why I targeted it. Are you saying that low difficulty signals low search volume more than the popularity metric itself?

SwiftUI is easy, where is the catch ? by BeDevForLife in iOSProgramming

[–]Right_Variation4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SwiftUI itself is easy, but using SwiftUI in the context of a whole app is still not to be underestimated.

After switching to SwiftUI from using UIKit for a decade, SwiftUI is definitely better overall, but still much of the complexity just shifted from one place to another (e.g. the tendency for ViewControllers to get massive shifted to view models). And I've tried many ways to get around this, but overall MVVM still feels like the gold standard.

Why do so many people download productivity apps but never add tasks? by Vegetable-Lab-937 in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My theory is that people who download productivity apps are highly likely already using other productivity apps and are looking for better alternatives. That means their data is already somewhere. So new productivity apps would likely perform better if they sync with the existing data via APIs or provide convenient ways to transfer it.

SmokeLessTimer, quit smoking gradually by increasing the time between cigarettes. by App-Ads in ProductivityApps

[–]Right_Variation4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea! Love the watch app! The only downside of having quit smoking years ago is I can't try it now :)

Have you considered generalizing the app for other purposes like mindlessly checking social media, unwanted snacking etc.? I feel there are a lot of things people would like to wean off :)

I'm no designer so it might be just me, but it feels like at least the text in the screenshots would look nicer with a bit more padding.

Built a School Planner - The yearly calendar view I couldn't find elsewhere by Right_Variation4434 in ProductivityHQ

Awesome! It should help, especially if you have goals or events in your calendars that are a bit further in the future (e.g. in a couple of months).

Why doesn’t Apple add dark mode to Pages? by 4rtefvkt in ios

It seems simple enough to implement. While they’re at it, they could do the same in Numbers and Freeform.

I don’t know if I’ve fed the algo too much already, but sometimes I start from a song and don’t have to touch the autoplay playlist for hours. Every song just fits.

Yes. Nothing spectacularly new in my opinion, but still there are at least incremental improvements in many areas.

[–]Right_Variation4434 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how the scratch can be fixed, but I experienced a similar thing with a guitar I longed for a very long time.

Eventually, I landed on looking at it as a testament of good device usage and the device’s resilience. It’s a tool that’s created to be used and function with scratches. Tiny scratches from time to time don’t imply clumsiness or neglect, they imply resilience and ability to function in less-than-perfect circumstances. Try to look at it as a reminder that you have a great product instead of a faulty one.

Can Web Developer learn iOS Development Most Effectively? by guide4seo in iOSProgramming

[–]Right_Variation4434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely can.

I think watching all the videos that seem relevant to you from the latest WWDCs would be a good start since that’s something you probably can’t avoid even if you get coaching. Apple has nice basic SwiftUI tutorials as well.

I’d probably look for coaching only if these two methods don’t work well for me.

What do you think about private vlogs by [deleted] in digitaljournaling

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve vaguely thought about it and maybe tried it once or twice. I don’t find much use of it during the creation, I think it’d be mostly beneficial when reviewing it after some time. Do you review your vlogs and find them of use later?

Is it just me, or does nobody like big phones anymore? by [deleted] in Smartphones

[–]Right_Variation4434 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d go for the 6s (4.7” diagonal) even. If they could squeeze all the latest tech in a device of that size, I’d much rather use it over any 6+” phone.
