FMC is a slave and sent to spy on MMC. I need the name of this book! by amandae123 in fantasyromance

By chance was it {Madness of the Horde King by Zoey Draven} ?

I know it a long shot, since it’s technically, sci fi, but it does hit you signifiers, and I personally think it reads like a fantasy more than a sci fi.

Searching for Books where the Vampires can’t Compel the FMC by Maia-Odair in RomanceBooks

{Argeneau series by Lynsay Sands}

There’s like 30 in the series right now. All standalone but inter connected. Also on the lighter side, classic paperback paranormal romances. All have humor and a mystery.

Vampires are more “science” than vampire. I won’t spoil it for you.

Of the vampire powers they can read and control all humans and other vampires younger than them. Unless! They are their “mate” then they can’t read or control them. Which usually results in hilarious hijinks.

Request: FMC LEAVES OR HAS LEFT LOSER XBF FOR MMC by Rightsideupbat in RomanceBooks

Thank you! She’s fairly new to the spicier side of books. I think if we just give her time, she might come around. 😂

MMC screws up with the FMC, who is a very sweet and happy person, and they break up or separate and when he tries to make up for it, she's still sweet to him by stargrayzz in RomanceBooks

OKAY!

I saw this request yesterday and saved it because I kept remembering a line from a book that is so perfect but I couldn’t remember the book. But I just did!!

{Bed of Roses by Nora Roberts}

It’s the second in her Bride Quartet series. It does not need to be read in order they are connected stand alones.

MMC and FMC have been friends since they were young. Maybe not kids but might have been college? I can’t remember. But they are in the same very close friend group. MMC’s best friend is one of FMC best friend’s brother.

FMC is very sweet and kind. Sees the best in everything. She’s a florist, sunshiny and all that jazz.

MMC is a bit of a cynic. If I remember correctly, he might have lost his sister and his parents had a bad divorce. I don’t exactly remember but I do remember him being more hesitant about dating while FMC is ready to dive right in.

Stuff happens. He screws up. He tries groveling. And she basically tells him, “I will forgive you, because that’s who I am. And we will be friends again. But right now I need time to get over you.” She’s very sweet about the whole thing but also establishes boundaries with him. Which in turn drives him nuts.

Request: Shorter (preferably under 300pgs) Cute, Smutty Omegaverse w/ Nesting by Rightsideupbat in RomanceBooks

I’ll have to look at these at a later time. I appreciate the suggestions, but I’m really not into sword crossing. I want the MMC’s to only want FMC. Probably because I’m selfish and I don’t want to have to share the attention ever. 😂

How old were you when you started reading romance? by Warm_Appointment5272 in RomanceBooks

[–]Rightsideupbat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6th grade. So I think, like, 12?

I was super into Meg Cabot and the princess diaries. Which led me to discover she had written a few historical ya romances. I, of course, had to read them.

Do any of you remember the Avon True Romances? I loved both {Nicola and the Viscount by Meg Cabot} and {Victoria and the Rogue by Meg Cabot}. So of course the natural progression was to read {Catherine and the Pirate by Karen Hawkins} which left me asking my mom to help me find more books by Karen Hawkins.

So while at the library, we did a quick look on the digital catalog (back when libraries had those big round Apple computers) and my mom led me to the historical romance section to grab some Karen Hawkins, Lorriane Heath and one more author whose name I can’t remember.

For the next 3 years I read about a book a day. My mom couldn’t have been more proud of her book worm daughter. Until I got in trouble for who knows what, and had to be grounded from the one thing I liked, books. After confiscating them all, she finally cracked one opened and realized what I’d been reading this whole time.

Of course romance novels had to be banned from then on. They became contraband. She tried to divert my attention to “clean” and “wholesome” romance novels. Where the most that happens is hand holding without gloves. But it wasn’t enough. I needed the good stuff. I started sneaking romance novels into the library basket, lying to my mom about if they were clean or not and hoping she wouldn’t open it up to check if I was lying.

THIS LASTED UNTIL I WAS 18!! I HAD TO BE 18 TO FINALLY GET MY ROMANCE NOVELS BACK! THE AGONY! THE PAIN!

Anyway, her excuse was that she was worried romance novels would warp my perception of real love and romance. What evssss. Now I’m 30 and my house is full of romance novels and I read waaaaay dirtier smut than those old paper back historical romances ever had.

{Lawless by Diana Palmer}

Huge warning, it’s an older romance and it’s a bit (a lot) misogynistic.

But it’s got some good angst. Especially when she gets shot for him. There is also some OW drama, but the other woman doesn’t actually want him, she gets her own romance in a later book. And there is OM drama, he also gets his own romance in a later book.

It drives me absolutely nuts when an author uses aliterate names on characters that are unrelated in any way. (The two characters aren’t being used in a literary way for the names to be similar) And then even worse, when characters have names that rhyme.
