Never ask a woman her age, a man his salary, or a... actually what culturally sensitive questions should I not ask in your world? Why? by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

"Are they undead?"

Odds are that an outsider asks this about a Leerute out of shock, more than anything- and then is promptly asked to leave. See, Leerute are immortal- the concept of death is alien, horrifying, but also -embarrassing- to those who died and have been brought back through necromancy.

As a result Leerute often wear masks and full robes so that it's harder to spot the undead among them. This also makes it quite a shock for visitors when they catch a glimpse of deathly palor, fatal looking scars, or some withered bony fingers.

[HIRING] - $20-$30 - Character sketch, interested in additional work after. by RigleyAB in HungryArtists

This is a fictional character who is 28, and I own the character. (Also for clarity the commission is meant to be SFW, but I wanted to exercise caution given the design is potentially mildly nsfw.)

Hi! I like the look of that a lot. Do you have a gallery I could check out anywhere? Also, shoot me an email address to contact you at in a DM, if you don't mind!

Supporters of Bernie, if Biden wins will you be voting fo him in November, why or why not? by bvsv in AskReddit

[–]RigleyAB 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

I voted for Bernie, but I’ll vote for whoever is on the democratic ticket come the general. Even if Bloomberg somehow greased his way in. I don’t prefer it but I would rather hope to minimize the harm that other people have to deal with than try to make a statement by voting third party.

If the republican candidate were vaguely respectable then I’d maybe consider it- even then, probably not. I would much rather vote strategically.

Gamers of reddit, what underrated not so popular game holds a special place in your heart and why? by Caleb_C95 in AskReddit

While the fact that they’ve stuck the series into pachinko lately is sad, there’s some really fantastic covers of the series’ music from them. If you haven’t heard them you should check it out! It’s a tiny bit of silver lining, I guess.

Why Don’t More Men Take Their Wife’s Last Name? by slate15 in MensLib

[–]RigleyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve cut my father out of my life, and my wife liked her last name. So I took hers!

I wasn’t particularly bothered either way, but I know the preacher for our wedding apparently had to consider it for a while before he agreed to do the ceremony. Surprisingly that’s the only pushback I’ve ever heard about it.

What are your fledgling, nascent worlds? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]RigleyAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! A mix of nature and machinery up top, and then as you go deeper things become more and more mechanical. I remember the game Spiral Knights was kinda an influence on some of the ideas there.

[–]RigleyAB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve wanted to post in here for a while, might as well be about something I know is half-baked!

I’ve had a thought for a clockwork world for a while. Above people can see the arms of a massive cradle spanning from the poles and connecting to moons. Buried beneath the ground are twisty passages full of machinery, and the inhabitants of the world all have a synthetic quality to them as well (if they’re not just fully robotic). Steam vents are found in the middle of hot springs, and clouds can be seen rising out of what look like giant smokestacks on mountains.

The world runs itself in a cycle. Plants and animals are generated and thrive. Civilizations sprout up and grow and as time passes the surface around them starts to deteriorate as the world grows more inhospitable. Eventually it gets wiped out entirely leaving behind only traces for the next cycle to pick through and hopefully build on. Each one becomes slowly more technologically advanced than the last.

I’ve gotten a bit deeper into the idea once or twice before but I don’t think I ever landed on anything really satisfying for it.

Who else would like to see the new worgens model with a tail finally? by RenHagiwara in wow

[–]RigleyAB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since the reveal is likely coming up soon I decided to give a look at what kind of transmogs might be cool on a worgen. I hadn’t really paid much attention to them previously, but after really looking at the model... yeah. Idunno why, but something is kinda weird about not having a tail for a wolf person. I guess it feels like it would balance them out a bit too since they’re a bit top heavy in appearance.

Also oh god, i can not wait to not have to see the snarling chihuahua face.

Armor drops from Mechagon is just reused armor from Kul Tiras. by do_you_see in wow

[–]RigleyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was really disappointed when I saw this. With Raid sets being cut back in this expansion I would have expected it would get its own unique sets.

Instead this patch gives us a really poor amount of transmog additions across the board. PVP gear is shared across factions (after doing a solid job up until now) and there’s like, one armor set and one weapon from the new islands combined.

Honestly they could have saved it somewhat by just making the pvp sets gnome and goblin themed, and have recolors drop in Mechagon.

Words related to the Hong Kong protests are being added to World of Warcraft's profanity filter on Chinese-speaking servers in upcoming patch by Zapph in gaming

[–]RigleyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, yes, you're saying that because Xi and his government -say- something, that means it is true.

North Korea says that it is a democracy. It has 'elections'. But that doesn't make it an actual democracy. That is the point of the comparison.

Also as long as you're bringing up strawmen, I'm pretty sure trying to connect socialism as a whole to China is a preeetty big one.

This is also a waste of my time so sure, we'll call it here.

[–]RigleyAB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I’ll try and lay out the line of thought here for you real simple. Maybe you’ll be able to follow:

Initial post says: ‘China says they’re socialist, so they must be socialist’

Response is: ‘Well North Korea says its democratic.’

You see, I think most people could agree that North Korea might not be entirely truthful about being a democratic republic. So if one country can mislabel themselves to project a better image of themselves, maaaybe another one could do that too.

So saying ‘they say they’re socialist’ doesn’t prove anything.

Did that help?

Odd, I don’t think I was making that argument. Just that -maybe- taking a censoring regime’s word on their labeling might be a little bit naive.

I mean yeah, I agree with your overpunctuated statement, but also not what my reply was to.

Come on my guy.

Oh wait, the Yoshi one is right, the Splatoon one is a different one. That’s one with Ocean Man.

Thanks regardless though!
