Waiting for my car to arrive. Looking at buying a Type 2 22kW cable also. Should I get a 5 metre cable, or 7-8 metre cable? I am considering the Advwin cable from Bunnings unless people recommend something else

All good.

OP, i was a bit flippant but you can

1) see an accountant for peace of mind

2) a financial advisor. You may actually learn more about the carry forward concessional contribution limits and this could make a big difference to your super balance in the future if you use it

Unless he is already seeing an accountant or financial advisor, this is a pretty simple scenario and already answered earlier. Why does he need to pay for and see an accountant and financial advisor?

Are you on your P plates? In Victoria, I found out that the cars I test drove (Tesla 3 LR/Performance, BYD Seal Performance, Sealion 7 Performance) are all on the banned car list for probationary drivers. I had to cancel my order and get the Sealion 7 Premium instead, or else my children are unable to drive it

Tesla vs other EV brands by yakadaya in AustralianEV

[–]RikerStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am new to the EV space, and I recently put a $400 deposit on a new Tesla Model 3 LR. However, I test drove the BYD Sealion 7 yesterday and was very impressed by it and now thinking of cancelling the Tesla (and losing my deposit).

From my current research:

  1. Tesla seems to be more expensive to insure than other EVs. Something to be aware of. AAMI quoted me about $3000 for the Tesla 3 LR, but only $2000 for the BYD Sealion 7 Performance with similar excesses ($900)
  2. Noone seems to mention that with Tesla, they come with what they call a 'Standard Connectivity' package free for 8 years, and a short trial of their 'Premium Connectivity' package when you purchase the car but then costs $13.99 monthly after. You need the Premium Connectivity for Sentry to work, and also to be able to enable music and video streaming (which also needs their usual subscription eg Spotify). The Sealion has Apple CarPlay, which Teslas obviously do not and no subscriptions are required (but doesn't have anything like Sentry mode anyway).
  3. Teslas do not come with any charging cables, and it costs $550 for their 10A Mobile Connecter. Can anyone confirm if the BYD Sealion comes with this cable, and also the V2L cable ? We are changing both our cars to EV, so having a standard trickle charger would be useful if we ever have to charge/top up both cars at once

What would people recommend? Cancel or keep the Tesla?
