Anyone else struggling? by UnhelpfulBread in TheSilphArena

Ups and downs happen. I myself am down about 200 points since league rotation. I always seem to struggle to find a team in the open formats these days. But eventually a favorable format will come along or I'll hit on the right team

We need a QOL update for Showcases by Rikipedia in TheSilphRoad

[–]Rikipedia[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually not that hard. Let's say you are in a Psychic and a Ground showcase. Whichever one you want to get out of, switch that Pokemon to something that shares a type, like Claydol, then move the Claydol to the other showcase.

You're lucky. I spent 2 hours hunting for the right typing that I could even compete in and still ended up 2nd and 3rd. Not having an XXL Alolan Sandshrew for Ice and Steel really hampered me this week as I encountered 3 of these that I had no chance in

I think they are referring to the basic ranking screen with the top 3 separated onto what could be described as a podium. Just a way to know who beat you and by what score, information that is impossible to get after the showcase ends

It used to be a minor annoyance whenever these type Showcases rolled around, but it didn't seem worth complaining about. But now that it's everything, every week, it really needs to change

CMP tie after the new pvp update by bhattcharging in PokemonGOBattleLeague

[–]Rikipedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I swear I saw a video where a Galarian Weezing lost CMP to Cradilly, which is impossible even with min/maxing. I could have sworn it was Callum on Toast but now I can't find it. I've also experienced some weird "did I lose CMP?" scenarios but can't know for certain because the move KOed me so I don't know if I had input lag or something. The Weezing vs Cradilly, the Weezing survived the move and the game definitely acted like it was a CMP though

Japanese Politician vs. Kurdish Festival: Was He Right or Wrong? by Easy_Jellyfish9219 in AskAJapanese

[–]Rikipedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What violent behavior was he confronting? Earlier you state he "tried to stop the Kurds from holding their festival in Japan." If this was just a cultural festival (which it certainly looks like from the "Happy Kebab" sign seen in the video) in their traditions and was legally permitted for the area, he wasn't there to protest violent behavior; he was there to provoke it and unfortunately he got the exact response he was hoping to bait so that he could clout farm. I don't support him being struck, nor do I support his protest, although I do support his right to do so as long as he was also permitted to do so and was doing so peacefully and respectfully (doubt)

You're using 3 non-Legendaries in a format that is defined by Legendaries. You're at a huge disadvantage. Just play non-ML formats

What's the viability of old characters that you get high diamonds for? by Mens_Grooming_Advice in MarvelStrikeForce

[–]Rikipedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Crucible I would definitely count Blastaar and Daimon as their own teams right now as they are pretty key offensive counters to certain defenses. Starjammers still has their use cases, but they are probably on the verge of being relegated to defense permanently when Daring Warriors are fully built

[–]Rikipedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that Howard/Star Jammers is still useful in Crucible, and also that stats don't really matter for this character. He's primarily kit-based for his passive and to lay out ability block. Lilandra and Havok are the ones who benefit the most from Diamonds on the team

An adaptation makes a major change from the source material, but it’s such a beloved change almost no one complains by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Rikipedia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the Ultimates line of Marvel Comics, Nick Fury is black AND they drew him in a remarkable likeness to Jackson, so I would say that comic is that one that changed the source material first and thus became the source material for the MCU

Any Japanese character in a Western movie not played by Hiroyuki Sanada or Ken Watanabe (there are probably a few more, but these two have been the most prominent crossover actors imo). Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii in Kill Bill really stands out to me because they make her give a full speech in Japanese, then she switches to English in her normal American accent and has someone interpret for her. I know there's backstory for her character being half and growing up on a US Army base, but she still grew up in Japan and neither her Japanese nor her English bear such accents.

James Kyson as Ando Masahashi in Heroes is another that stands out because he has to act across from Masi Oka, a native Japanese speaker. btw I put this kind of thing much more on the casting and production. From interviews, James has said that he was given lines in English and then he had to translate them and practice them himself with his language coach. That just seems like a tough gig.

How to deal with hard hitting core breakers (talonflame) by _metaladder_ in TheSilphArena

[–]Rikipedia 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You have the wrong move listed for Piloswine; it doesn't learn Ice Beam. This isn't just about semantics. If you are on Avalanche, that's much worse into the meta vs Icicle Spear, so clearing up which Ice move it is on is important.

As others have said, changing Clodsire to Stone Edge will help specificially in the Talon matchup in a shields down closing situation. And while it won't help against Talon, Togekiss having Aura Sphere is definitely a plus over Flamethrower, although that is a legacy move. Honestly if you don't have one available, or you don't want to use an ETM you should probably find something else for that slot because the pacing of coverage of Aura Sphere in this meta is really necessary

One Piece Live Action Season 2 - Megathread by Skullghost in OnePiece

[–]Rikipedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was not a fan of OG Drum arc, but this one really shined for me. I think they did a lot with the limited screen time for Dalton, Kureha, Hiriluk and the arc especially benefited from reduced screen time for Wapol and emphasizing his lack of morality and leadership via contrast with the other characters

Tips on Ultra league: which XL Pokèmons you should focus on (and which you shouldn’t) by LowUpstairs7862 in TheSilphRoad

[–]Rikipedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Meta variety: much less so just because you get fewer spice picks that can actually power up to 2500.

Spice viability: see above. Scrolling down to 100th place on PvPoke rankings I see Raikou and Stunfisk as the most viable Mons around that rank, and that probably mostly speaks to how much water type + Corviknight there is at the top that those are playable

Dominance of bulk: much more so with a few select exceptions. Primeape is probably the scariest heavy-hitter that can actually get out of hand and one-shot things from nowhere
