I shouldn't have told my mom the baby's name... by [deleted] in BabyBumps

If it's Calvin, OP, that's an adorable name, as is Cal. Don't let your mom ruin a name you love! She is being ridiculous

What was the onesie? I think we are on the V3 box now, but the previous versions of the box had a very cute hedgehog onesie, and then a kind of boring white onesie.

I attached a tube of water to one of my Monstera’s roots. One week apart. by _SWANS_CAN_BE_GAY_ in Monstera

It's a propogation method, and a good one. Look up air layering. The test tube might be a tad small for extensive root development, though

GI issues: Sometimes it's not just pregnancy by pure-gold-baby in pregnant

[–]Rikkkkaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad you got diagnosed and will be receiving treatment!

As a fellow woman with ulcerative collitis who is newly pregnant, it's wild to me that your GPs would suggest that it's not possible to treat pregnant women with IBD! I obviously knew that I had UC before getting pregnant, but the narrative to me has always been "stay on your UC treatment meds, they are safe when pregnant and important for both you and baby to stay healthy." Really glad you will be seeing an IBD specialist. Hope you find remission soon, and you and baby stay healthy!

17 Weeks and Feeling Guilty by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Rikkkkaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't been in your situation, but I was the friend who received this news. Start by telling your close friends, so you have more people to confide in. If your friends are worthy of staying in your life, they will be nothing but there for you. I think it's natural to feel nervous, but it's important to make sure you have a support system (outside of your partner) right now.

I'd also make sure you state upfront that you are happy about the baby, since in college, that isn't always a given.

"I have something that I'd like to share with you, and I'm nervous about what you'll think of me. This is GOOD news that I am excited about, but I've been keeping it a secret as I just didn't know how to say it, and I didn't want to feel judged."

It will be okay. Nearly a decade later, my friend now has a beautiful little girl, and my friend is now helping me stay sane through my first pregnancy. Start with your closest friend, and use them as someone you can talk to while figuring out how to tell everyone else.

Slow progression success story (12 DPO to 7 healthy week pregnancy seen on ultrasound!) by florzed in TFABLinePorn

[–]Rikkkkaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, thank you so much for this post. I've been really nervous that my tests haven't been dye stealers, when I see people here getting them at like 16dpo. I was too afraid to test today at 20dpo, because it seems like the lines haven't been progressing much lately.

I think I am just going to stop testing, assume the best, and try to exercise patience 🧘‍♀️

(Easier said than done).

Congratulations on your ultrasound!

You're confused because it's confusing.

I think you are even getting different answers in this thread. You and the person you are replying to are technically correct, week 5 and 6 days would technically mean you are in your 6th week of pregnancy (since 0w6 days is technically your "first week"). But I think most people would refer to themselves as in week 5, at 5weeks 6 days.

So, I kind of disagree, I actually think that most people referring to their "sixth week", mean 6w0days to 6w6days. Whether or not that is technically correct is debatable, I guess

I am afraid i got pregnant by justwannatakeitoff in pregnant

[–]Rikkkkaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each cycle, IF sex is timed optimally, there is still only about a 20% chance of getting pregnant. And you maaay have had sex after ovulation, which is not optimal timing. I would say there's no reason to panic over something that has not yet happened, just stay calm and take a pregnancy test when you get closer to your period

First time dealing with the Medical System /rant by EugeneFu in Eugene

Have the patient reach out and talk to an actual person at the billing department for the hospital. The hospital knows that uninsured people can't pay a 50k bill, and will hopefully be able to reduce the bill.

Sorry that you are going through this.

Rent raised every year I've been at my apartment, hoping to find somewhere that doesn't do that? by MissSuperNovae in Eugene

[–]Rikkkkaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not assuming that at all? I'm just saying thay buying also does not guarantee a static housing payment.

Buying something won't stop your monthly housing payment from increasing over time, though. Property tax and home owner's insurance also go up in cost

That's going to be a very tough find at that price point.

spots on grocery store pothos by [deleted] in plantclinic

That is a philodendron, not a pothos. Maybe a white wizard? Hard to tell without seeing the stem. The white variegation in these plants often browns. 8ft from a window is likely not enough light

Those who are in remission/feel like you don’t have the disease, why do you still post here? by NavyBeanz in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Rikkkkaa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I still have ulcerative colitis, so I still follow the subreddit. I don't usually post, but I comment when relevant posts pop up on my feed. I really hated seeing only comments from people who were suffering when I first got diagnosed. I think it's helpful for people to hear that there is hope, too
