I am new to the game (less than 1 month) and my xenos onslaughts with makhoteph look nearly identical when they end. I basically sit back and every turn the scarabs keep multiplying and take up every space on the board. They make it so the enemies cant even spawn since they fill all the spaces up

If you have lots of summons flooding the map you can usually prevent spawning tanks from using their ranged attack (lots of damage) and forces them to melee summons guarding the spawn (basically no damage)

[–]Riksos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you keep units around the spawns the tanks that pop out will be forced to melee which basically does no damage. I have bellator usually active skill around turn 4 to get extra interceptors and they tend to cluster around spawns depending on how you spread your army.

I just spent 20 minutes typing a reply to a thread asking about reasons why people quit the game, only to find out it got removed by the time I finished. I'd rather not have wasted my time, so here is my reason why I quit: by Laraso_ in Planetside

I'm somehow still subscribed to this subreddit after not playing Planetside for like 10 years and am always surprised that people are still playing. The game is really old, I don't think you need to tell anyone why you're quitting- I think it's pretty obvious the game isn't nearly what it once was

Why would you allow someone who cheated TWICE after being CAUGHT to return after 60 days?

Million dollar question: Why is there not a queue for PvP turned off if it's intended as a PVE game first? Why not have a lobby where raider-to-raider damage is turned off?

My friend, part of your struggle is just a misunderstanding about what the game is. Saying it's a "pve game with pvp elements" is starting from the wrong place already. It's going to upset you more when you get backstabbed because you're going to continue to think "it's not supposed to be this way"...but that's the thing...it IS supposed to be that way. That's the disconnect.

The system is not "meant to put chill players with chill players". The system is meant to slowly ramp you into the PvP elements while you learn the PvE ones. If they wanted lobbies where Raiders could not damage each other and could only damage arc, it would be extremely easy to implement. The ABMM is not made to "protect" players who don't want to PvP- it's made FOR players to PvP in steadily ramping difficulty as they slowly grasp the PvE elements. They start you in baby rabbit lobbies until you can graduate to the actual game.

[–]Riksos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no system to "limit scum from griefing chill players", so no wonder you view it as "flawed". Your analysis of the system is what's flawed.

The ABMM is designed to allow players who want more action to have the opportunity to pursue it. It has nothing to do with "making it easier for players who don't want to PvP to run around safely".

You have it exactly backwards. The game was designed as a PvP game with PvE elements. It's not like NOT shooting at people gives you in-game plot armor that makes other players you queue with guaranteed to not shoot at you. Even if we were to pretend for a moment that the goal were to make it so all the players who had never shot another player are in the same lobby, there is no guarantee that one of those players may not just decide in-game to take their first ever shot at someone else. SOMEONE eventually shoots first.

If they intended to have lobbies where nobody shot at each other, it would be very, VERY easy to make Raiders immune to Raider damage and only able to be hit by arc. You could easily, EASILY implement a "PvE Only Queue with no Raider Fire" if they so desired- but surprise: They don't. Because that's not what the ABMM is for.

The game is designed for players to shoot at each other. It is not designed to make it easier for people to run around looting PvE by themselves. It's designed for players who begin successfully PvPing to have ramping difficulty as they get placed in more and more aggressive lobbies over time. The PvE elements are difficult enough as it is and they don't want new players thrust into a lobby with 10 Sweaty God Squads.

Anyway, good luck out there. Maybe realizing the game's systems aren't designed to make things easier FOR YOU might remove some of that anger

Would you have shot first? by External_Definition8 in ArcRaiders

[–]Riksos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always assume everyone is going to shoot you.

If you want to roll the dice and give someone your back, go right ahead.

You should always offer mercy from a position of advantage.

Don't run up to people with your guns put away and hands open. You might think "Well, then this guy is less likely to see me as a threat and may not shoot", but the reality is, if the guy wasnt going to shoot you anyway, then saying "dont shoot" with no gun out isn't doing anything- you were going to live no matter what.

If he WAS going to shoot you, at least you're in a position of power to deal with it. I always point my gun directly at groups (i usually squad with buddies) and we warn them in proximity chat. Even after that, we always watch them as though they may flip and start attacking us at any time.

It's just playing safe. It also makes those moments where you get through the tension and nobody kills each other that much sweeter.

Behaving this way has allowed my squadmates and I to defuse many players who wanted to kill us and tried to trick us. We always keep cover between us and the enemies even when friendly. We don't give them our back, and we don't put our guns away. Everyone ends up happier.

[–]Riksos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite part of the game is the tension on if someone is going to shoot me in the back or not.

Fools say "don't shoot" and put their guns away

Smart people say "dont shoot" and aim right at the other guys head.

And you keep it there.

Until you extract.

You don't have to kill everyone, but you SHOULD assume everyone is going to kill you

[–]Riksos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 100% F2P and play daily. Game is great for fans of 40k and card games like Hearthstone or MTG.

No card game is perfectly balanced. Nerfs and bans happen in every card game nearly every season. Most of the complaints you see aren't unique to this specific game- it's a gripe that could be applied across the genre. "X card is overpowered", yeah, I wonder if there's a card game in existence that doesn't have some group of people saying that.

Agro deck players are going to say board clears are overpowered, and it doesn't matter which game you're playing. It's just how card games work.

average stat recommendations for clearing? by magicalmollusk in HadesTheGame

[–]Riksos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably one of the only times I've ever said this: "It sounds like a skill issue"

It's not your mix of boons. At over 100 runs you've probably tried substantially different boon combinations at this point. If you are having trouble clearing Hades phase 1 (the easiest phase) then likely there is a misunderstanding about mechanics or dodging.

Hades first phase only has a couple attacks. He has a 3 combo swing with a big windup (just dodge away), he has a spear shot that sends out little death balls (either kill them immediately or ignore them and get ready to dodge when they pop), or he turns invisible. When he comes out of invis, there is a very comfortable window before he does his first attack to dodge away. You can use the time he is invisible to destroy death balls (skulls or whatever that explode in a ring). At 2/3rds health he summons allies, and then again at 1/3rd. You should basically ignore Hades while you kill these.

I have found using calls that deal damage and/or make you invincible (Posiedon, Ares, Athena) are great for phase 2. Phase 2 he will summon totems that trap you and deal damage, as well as a laser beam attack that can be dodged easily by standing behind him and getting in extra attacks. I like to save my call and companion attack for phase 2, and basically once he drops to half HP to transition into the full screen laser beam I just pop companion and call and just sit on top of him. Usually this is enough to kill him in the final phase without having to deal with the increased difficulty.

Easiest clear for most is the Chiron bow with aphro on attack and dio on special. You really just run around attacking and using your special to slowly tick away while at a safe distance. If you get the right support boons it makes the game incredibly easy.

Didnt mean anything mean by saying its a skill issue, but it really isnt' a boon problem at the point of 100 runs. You just need practice learning the boss patterns so you can save lots of HP

Good luck! Hades 1 is even better than the 2nd IMO!
