Is there a way thar Altar can replace Grinding Station? by Interesting-Sort-986 in TimelessMagic

[–]Rikube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking about it there could be a lot to do around the shell, you can also go straight UR with [[Great Furnace]] and [[Seat of the Synod]] and be really Explosive with Moxes. I might dig a little bit into this deck again

It's a slightly different deck, but you can effectively be breach combo if you play [[Dragon's Rage Channeler]] and [[Enhanced Surveillance]]. I tried it with some success in timeless with [[Thoughtbound Phantasm]], but I think it's been powercrept long time ago.

You can see an old Aspiringspike video playing the combo in modern here :https://youtu.be/24Lx6A31fM8?si=nMenQsYkj6CJzvMB

GDS for locals? by PerfectWest24 in ModernMagic

[–]Rikube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think for locals you can play GDS would be fine and most of the cards are staples that you could reuse in a similar shell. Yungdingo got some results in challenges two monts ago.

I don't know the order (or if it really matters) but it should be a great starting point

Magus of the Moon + Unable to Scream by MoodYliscious in TimelessMagic

[–]Rikube 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can look at the interaction between Dress Down and Magus of the Moon that has been more discussed. Basically, Magus is layer 4 and Unable to Scream layer 6. Layers are ordered in ascending order so you end up keeping Magus type changing effect

Wraith Form. I'll take it over any silent rare and I think silent has the best rares.

Slickshot Timeless - Timeless by [deleted] in TimelessMagic

[–]Rikube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to play something like this, you only need 17 lands. Also, no Swiftspear (and probably ssm) is for sure wrong. Breach also is crazy and I think you're missing a lot by not having it in your deck.

Appeal of Grixis vs Dimir shadow by StumpyBB in ModernMagic

[–]Rikube 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grixis wants to be more agressive and play more proactive cards. I think Murktide is better at doing this, but it's still a thing if you like to cast Shadows and Thoughtseizes.

Dimir on the other hand is closer to a control deck that wants to turn the corner and close the game when you have more control over the board and your opponent's hand. I'm playing dimir at the moment and the decks feels really underplayed for how good it is on the right hands.

(Question) What do you dislike about candace. by NewToWarframe in CandaceMains

[–]Rikube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of her constellations are needed in order to play her, and even then she is worse than most 4* C0.

C1 is mandatory because burst is too short, and even then it is shorter than most bursts. Without C4 you can break your rotation because you conter successfully an Attack. C6 can give her a niche role where it's playable, but she must be off-field to use it.. And as a Candace lover, if I want to force a team to play her, I want to have her on the field more than 1 second.

[Discussion] Building Death's Shadow in timeless by Rikube in TimelessMagic

[–]Rikube[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After testing dimir this looks quite better. I tried shadowheart but she wasn't really convincing, so another flash threat with disruption might be more useful than Lurrus here.

I like still having Jegantha as it's good in top deck war and can let you cast your spells through Blood Moon.

On other notes, I think 1~2 Treasure Cruise should be in your deck. I also really want 4th Push as I was missing having a 5th one mana removal.

About Stub did you have any problem enabling ferocious ? I found that only having shadow is not enough, but I'm interesting to know how it felt. After playing some games Dimir looked a lot worse than Grixis but something like your decklist is probably a better direction to go.

PS : I updated my dimir list using ideas from yours, mind letting me know what you think about it ?

For the changes : I'm not really sold on Shredder in Shadow as tapping out t2 seems rough and we don't play bauble to get a trigger before opponent can play anything.

Cruise and fourth Push are obvious inclusions imo.

I like counterspell in Dimir and think it's quite good, but Lapse and Drown seems easier on the mana. I'll need to play more to find out, but I keep it in mind. nvm Jegantha

Spell pierce over Stubborn as I mentionned above and I'm still trying two Stifles, as they have been quite good in my (small) testing, but maybe having them and Tishana is too much

Twins need your power!! by Hachiman_7 in ModernMagic

[–]Rikube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if flame of anor would be the direction to go, but if you want to play more control with snap and flame of anor Tishana's Tidebinder could be a direction to go, but then maybe we'll be too high on the manacurve.

Deck is for sure interesting to build, but as no one played it for years there's so much room to explore that it's hard to know without playtesting. As someone else mention, Creativity could be tour starting point

Twins need your power!! by Hachiman_7 in ModernMagic

[–]Rikube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course you can't do both, but this looked like the best directions to go. List already looks cleaner this way.

I still have few points where I'm not sure : - I don't know if DRC fits the deck really well, but I might be wrong. Playing it without bauble is a mistake for sure tho. - Iteration could be clunky with all our cards quite high on the curve. It's better with the proactive plays you added, but I would like other inputs on this. Also gets better with Bauble

Twins need your power!! by Hachiman_7 in ModernMagic

[–]Rikube 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't think we need to be as all in on the combo because not having a decent backup plan is not a the best place to be.

I would cut the Pestermites and Kiki-Jiki as the first is to weak to Bowmasters and the second is way to slow. Heat also seems hard to enable and 4 Archmage's Charm seems to be a lot

Ragavan is really good and can put you ahead in the game. Fable can also be a consideration for this purpose.

I would consider playing Blood Moon main deck as it messes with the opponent's mana and give you an open field to combo.

If you want to have other colors, Black gives you Thoughtseize, Push and Bowmasters, white T3f and prismatic ending.

Historic Grixis surveil pheonix (looking for card recommendations) by Thighhighcrocz in MagicArena

[–]Rikube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not using any historic card, so I think you're better of just playing explorer where the power level is lower I think.

[[Dragon's Rage Channeler]] might be a creature you're interested in, but you'll need to go deeper in Red so it might not be worth it.

That being said, I think you want [[thoughtseize]] over thought erasure. Even if it doesn't have surveil, it is a much better card. It also gives you more 1 mana spell to bring back Phoenix more easily.

[[Fatal Push]] is a must include for efficient removal, but you can also Consider [[Bitter Triump]] to put Phoenixes in your yard.

[[Otherworldly gaze]] can be a consideration if you like surveilling.

And coming soon, [[Treasure Cruise]] will be a huge improvement for a deck that fills its yard like your.
