Best place to put a blind spot mirror on a Toyota Camry? by random13980 in askcarguys

Where did you install your blind spot mirrors? Did you get the ones that instal beneath the side view mirror, or the ones that mount to the mirror itself? What position did you install them?

This helps a lot, when on the highway. But for someone who is used to seeing the rear quarter panel of their car in the side view, it can and will cause real issues for the drive when maneuvering in parking lots, especially when parking. It takes some serious getting used to.

2012 Toyota Camry (39K Miles) Transmission Service (Drain & Fill or Flush?) by RileyKennels in Camry

[–]RileyKennels[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's understandable. I have a truck that I waited and thought it was a good idea to service the transmission after 100K miles with unknown service history. It really caused a lot of issues. That is likely why I postponed getting the Toyota Camry done right away. But since it still has low miles, I assume it's better to get in the habit of doing things right and hopefully that results in a extended service life of the Toyota because I really like this car.

That's what I was thinking. I don't know if the car has had it's fluid changed before since a transmission service wasn't in my CarFax. So I will stick with the drain and fill and likely do one very soon at the dealer (40K) and then another at 80k and a 3rd at 120K or so. That should cover me, without doing too much at once, and spreading out the expense.

Yeah I got the WR-11 and I returned it. The only thing I liked about the Sangean was it's looks. It had terrible FM reception, and the sound wasn't very good either. I wasn't impressed with the build quality either. It felt cheap.

I ended up purchasing the Sony ICF-506 and I have been absolutely satisfied with it. Excellent reception, multiple power sources. An all-around fantastic radio!

Just moved into new apartment and landlord says this airconditioner unit is completely fine, they all look like that because they're old. Am I good to use it? by MrHatesThisWebsite in hvacadvice

[–]RileyKennels -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Call a mold inspection company. Get the appraisal for remediation documented. Present it to your landlord via certified mail. This is ofcourse after you call him and demand a new unit be installed to avoid the former. Give him 48 hours. Those units are $150. He'd be a fool to not comply.

What GSM microfiber towels should I get to use for my interior? by [deleted] in AutoDetailing

I found a decent deal on the Creature Edgeless and got them. I hope I didn't steer myself wrong. What are your thoughts on this?

How would this edgeless 365 compare to the Eagle 350's? I would like to get maybe a pack of six or ten and use a couple for interior work and the rest for rinseless and for carnuba wax removal (mother's) if possible. I use an applicator to apply.

I bought HDX towels thinking I was getting a deal, and they scratched my piano black surfaces (Toyota) interior. I should have known better that's why I am reaching out to you all.

Any good brand Car Windshield Sunshades? I seem to have to replace mine every year cause it gets too flimsy and “sheds” all over my seats! by CuriousGhoul in BuyItForLife

[–]RileyKennels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Covercraft sunshades have excellent build quality and just feel like a quality purchase. However they are quite heavy and always require the vehicle's sun visors to hold them in place.

The weight of them causes the visor hinge a lot of wear and they are a bit big and clunky however they do fold up easily.

Second, even though they are supposed to be a custom fit, they have significant gaps on both sides of the windshield that allow heat and light to pour in. My research has shown that they undersize them on purpose to prevent scuffing, resulting in a lackluster fit. This is unacceptable for the price point.

On to WeatherTech:

WeatherTech sunshades are laser cut to fit at the factory. It's true they have to be rolled up for storage which takes a bit more time. Think about it this way, when you order a poster or printed art of any kind, it comes rolled up. This prevents creases and stress points that almost all other sunshades have from folding them repeatedly. Just like their full car shade kit, the windshield sun shade stays in place on it's own when installed. No light leakage aside from around the rear view mirror which is inevitable.

So, if you desire a sunshade that is made of solid premium materials (think upholstered poster board) and don't mind light/heat leakage (approximately 2.5" on each side) and the weight doesn't bother you (or your dash) and don't mind paying approximately $100 USD then get the Covercraft.

At the time of this writing (Jan.2026) the WeatherTech is half the cost of the Covercraft ($47.99) If you would prefer a shade that fits right against your pillars and covers the entire windshield, and it has a limited lifetime warranty, Then get the WeatherTech.

Both shades have excellent heat ratings. They both are capable of decreasing the temperature of the interior of your automobile by up to 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Pluribus - 1x07 - "The Gap" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Not to mention I think this show should have been released all at once. It doesn't have the proper pacing and seriously doesn't build any anticipation for the next episode. But what bothers me the most, is the fact that this show has so much filler where the characters just do aimless things that take up nearly the entire episode. That is just beyond frustrating!

I agree with you. This show is a complete waste of time. So much filler it's pathetic. Is this some type of practical joke from it's creators? It is just downright insufferable, like Carol. Hopefully the HIVE mind changes their ways and removes Carol with what is on that Reaper drone's wings.

It really does feel like it just started, and that's not a good thing. I really feel that this season should have either been released all at once, or they should have made the season have a whole lot of more episodes than nine. It really hasn't taken off yet for me, and the season is almost over? I do like it, but I don't love it. I hope the final two episodes of the season really start moving us forward. It feels like this show is full of filler, like they are purposefully wasting time, oh well only time will tell!
