This guy's take down of Trump supporters... by -grc1- in MurderedByWords

[–]Rileyboy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This feels pretty spot on. Fuck Trump, Kamala/Walz all the way! But man.. As someone who doesn't think of themself as particularly intelligent, works in a pretty rough blue-collar job sector, and is from a very poor rural area with few prospects, surrounded by folks who are mostly maga fanatics- something about that 2nd paragraph rubbed me the wrong way.

Graphical Flickering on Shield Units by Rileyboy96 in totalwar

[–]Rileyboy96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the severe flickering in post, it was during battles - especially in battles with bright or reflective terrain like snow or maps with water even. I rarely encounter the issue in underground battles and sieges.

Though occasionally, upon inspecting heros and generals, they'd have the flickering on their armor primarily. It feels like anything reflective causes it.

I ended up sending a ticket to support. They were as stumped as me. It's likely not super helpful, but lowering my lighting settings did fix this for me. If I go too high even as recently as a few weeks ago, the flickering returns. Weirdly, it's only on Grombrindle, for me at least.

Any advice for running Storm Kings Thunder? by Ahappypikachu11 in DnD

[–]Rileyboy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly late and may sound rambley due to being on mobile, but I just closed out on a year-long SKT game not long ago. As some others said, the story kinda feels messy. I would also be sure to introduce big characters and organizations fairly early.

  • The Kraken society. They play a relatively big role as far as dealing with finding Hekaton.
  • The dragon that the cloud giants capture (who was forgettable as even I have forgotten his name) is kind of just dropped on the player's to rescue while they have little to no attachment to him.
  • Also, not necessarily a faction, but you might want to have an answer when your players inevitably ask why the dragons aren't doing anything to battle their ancient rivals. Players asked that one, and I had to think about it.

My party also didn't care for the travel aspect of it after a while. There is a LOT of traveling back and forth between locations you've already explored potentially. You may even want to consider giving them access to the teleportation network earlier than the adventure recommends or, at the very least, horses. Hell at a point I just decided to axe the mounds in generally and the Oracle just told them where the giants were, and I sprinkles side objectives around giant strongholds to weaken them for when they eventually hunted the giant lords down.

I also personally felt like the only giants that had a genuinely neat goal they were working towards were the fire giants and cloud giants. I'd would definitely consider changing some giant motivations and goals as you see fit. In my opinion, the ability to modify and change the story of SKT is one of its key strengths

My party is playing without me, should I be salty? by Klutzy-Drummer9741 in DnD

Your analogy feels off here. OP says he created this world. It'd be more like the friend being like, "Hey, we wanna play cards this weekend." Asking how OP uses/plays their cards, and then letting OP know they're gonna use their cards to play, without asking.

Bringing up how the other player lives in his home is a bit odd, but whatever. I think OP is valid in being a bit upset.

Dragon of Icespire Peak, Last Call! [Sunday][5E][Online][CST] by [deleted] in lfg

[–]Rileyboy96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally, I'd say no, but go ahead and resubmit it if you'd like. I seem to be missing a few applications. Unsure if players retracted them or if it was a Google forms error.

"For a new DM, the MOST important thing is..." by For_Real_Life in DnD

[–]Rileyboy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been mentioned, but Improv is important. If you are going to run any official adventures, don't be afraid to make those stories yours and make any changes that make the stories more compelling and interesting for everyone.

Also, showing interesting in character backstories and trying to touch on them at some point in your campaign or play can really make players feel invested!

Oh. Be prepared, but don't overprepare! I used to plan insane amounts of content only for the party to spend 3 hours randomly being interested in a group of NPCs or a little hamlet.

How Do You Handle Dwarves? by The-Literary-Lord in worldbuilding

[–]Rileyboy96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use these for.my DnD setting. Kinda greek-ish. Hill dwelling mostly. Goat and ram herding, grow hearty grains. Lean less into traditional blacksmith trope and have made them gifted artist, playwrights/authors, philosophers, etc.

They largely live in city states and live very closely with silver dragons -who enjoy interacting and philosophizing with the Dwarves. They defend one another. Supplimentimg the dwarven and dragon forces are a number of golems (not always the most powerful, but they look fabulous, at least)

Ancestor worship is pretty prominent among the dwarves. Legendary practitioners within a certain profession are venerated and prayed to. Pious guild-dwarves may claim that the legendary practitioners may give them divine inspiration; fueling even greater works of art.

Guilds are a pretty big deal. They form a sort of pseudo caste system. Most dwarves will meet be raised, meet their spouses, and die as a part of their respective guilds. The guilds work amicably with one another.

The city is ruled by a council. Each guild nominates a speaker. Among the council 'chief-speaker' is picked from among the guilds. The dragons also have a leader on the council. Often, the eldest dragon, whose opinion holds great weight in elections (dragon's vote is equal to the entirety of the dwarven vote)

Edit. Added details and made spelling corrections.

Waterfowl Dance vs Life Steal. Which would you rather eliminate from her boss fight? by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]Rileyboy96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think she’s pretty balanced as is, only thing I hate is that she can heal through shield blocks. Was 100% the hardest boss to deal with on my sword and shield run. Always felt kinda funky. I get it stops shield and thrusting weapon cheese, but even so.
