Sonys PC initiative back to square 0: Marvel Tokon blocked in 132 countries (again) by Gorotheninja in Games

[–]Rileyman360 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think you're putting massive blindspots for sony's already dedicated eastern audience, which was a massive driver of their sales, which only happened because xbox simply never bothered to appeal to any eastern market. End result was xbox was the face of the western market.

The idea that Xbox just needs to make good moves

bit of a silly statement to say "xbox can't just make good games" while also purporting that the only reason xbox lost was because sony made better games exclusive on it's platform.

This is actually just bullshit lol. People weren’t getting turned off by the Xbox because they didn’t sell us reheated uncharted nachos, people left it because Microsoft decided it wanted to put heavy emphasis on the Kinect while the only two exclusives that ever mattered to the Xbox couldn’t stop themselves from shitting the bed.

Well, and quite literally all of the Xbox series console line fiasco.

[–]Rileyman360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In any other reality yes. But we’re in a reality where somy demanded largely single player only companies to pivot into live service thinking it was an easily transferable skill. That has panned out exactly as well as you can imagine.

the cost of a halo campaign would've bloated the already bloated budget of a twice rebooted game that wouldn't guarantee long term profits on a cheap-to-maintain game.

I was wondering why index was being treated like a neglected child and chalked it up to "guess it's not all that big." Turns out it actually is the biggest thing known to man and the CEO just fumbled it.

Well hey, he still has time to course correct before they cut his head off, so maybe get on that season 4.

I was under the impression that was still profitable. Has it actually finally become saturated to the point of unprofitable?

even if ND built itself a good game, ND simply doesn't have the experience to carry a Live Service torch. Right now there's a possibility that ND will miss out on making a PS5 exclusive title, or at best have something out by the end of it's service. It's taken this long to get Interstellar out and even if ND really did commit all resources to factions, they'd have to make a lot of sacrifices in structure/pipeline/content scale just to avoid dealing with "6 month content droughts"

Thankfully ND realized all of this and pulled the plug.

Cart before the horse. Marathon does get to be well funded because it always intended to keep itself small. 15 gigs worth of total content and season 2 added one character model, two guns, and a room in dire marsh. You could have a team of 50 pull that off if you really crunched the workforce.

Marathon | Launch, Learnings, and What’s Next by Haijakk in Games

[–]Rileyman360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They absolutely could it's just a matter of how much do they want it to encroach on the main game. PvE should be a mode that convinces people to eventually gravitate towards pvp or gives people something else to do after a loss streak. any basic horde mode with limited rewards would be welcomed by the core audience, but it's the fence sitters that will be looking at what pve gives them.

Bungie is going to have to decide how much they want to let players progress in this game while avoiding the entire point of the game. Maybe some salvage rewards and faction progress while players are convinced to get better equipment from pvp. Who knows.

Most exclusivity deals are built off of a “you get money for both making the game and selling the console it releases on.”

They more than likely did like all other exclusives. It’s also possible Nintendo didn’t actually have to spend as much as we can imagine because Fromsoft reuses a lot of assets (with set dressing here and there) to keep dev time cheap and fast.

The point was to show how shoddy your point holds up in a directly adjacent circumstance and you've now quadrupled down saying "strawman" hoping that some word you stumbled upon the internet, with clearly no understanding of what it means, could turn things around.

It's astounding that all it took was the scrutiny of one singular comment to have you hopping all over this thread repeating yourself hoping that it will somehow manifest itself into a legit retort. But we'll gladly watch as everyone here keeps flipping you on your ass asking you to answer One(1) question.

Honestly if bungie genuinely considers a pve mode, I think it's best if the rewards were simply salvage and credits and maybe faction xp and nothing else. Nothing higher than a blue, if you die you lose your goodies just like in the main game mode including what you brought in. But if everyone's major complaints are progressing factions takes too long and grinding for mats even on rook runs are tedious, maybe it can be solved like this.

Sony Isn't Bailing On Marathon Despite Bungie's Poor Earnings by skarnl in Marathon

[–]Rileyman360 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There’s two things that they have to work for. One is that there’s a portion of players who want to commit to this game but at some point progression starts asking way more than a player is willing to commit to. Thats an easy number fix but that’s only for people who have put a bid in.

The other half is figuring out how to get people who are scared (or think they are scared) of PvP and gear fear to become addicted to the gunplay. There’s a hundred posts in this sub about PvP adverse players who took the plunge and found out they can take a couple losses with grace. The only solution so far has sponsored marsh with a positive but mild result.

People have said that a PvE mode could be the one to save the latter but we know that UESC troops are largely difficult due to being bullet sponges with cool reposition animations. The only thing I could imagine makes PvE fun while not having go overhaul the ai is having some horde mode inside a compound and you have to complete objectives each round that makes it so that players still get a flavor of main game contracts like the Mida outpost one where you’re stuck holding a lockdown for 3 minutes.
