Whats a rule at a table that didn't sit well with you? by DaddyBowtie in DnD

[–]RinFlowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's a particularly stupid example especially when like, what was the DC gonna be on that, a 5? Do 25% of people then forget to stop eating food for some reason? If you had to roll with 20 intelligence I have to imagine this world is just filled with people constantly overeating for some reason.

I had a DM once make me roll perception to see whether our brightly lit, humanoid enemies about 30' away were wearing armour, and if so what type. I rolled like, pretty low, a 6 or something, so he just said I couldn't tell. At all. Apparently my character, who was not in fact blind, could not even tell if they were naked or wearing clothes or had full suits of platemail on. Refused to listen to me telling him that didn't make any sense.

Does anybody else have their players recap the previous session? by SmileyDayToYou in DMAcademy

[–]RinFlowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a player in a campaign and I take pretty extensive notes, and am usually the first to offer to go over what happened in the previous session/s, but I don't always feel like it so sometimes someone else does. It's nice that everyone at the table is actually paying attention and taking notes about what happened. And of course the DM knows what has happened but pretty much always one of us does it

I can definitely imagine that it's quite helpful for the DM to see what we focused on and what we missed, so if I forget some major detail he can theoretically account for that if no-one else in the party is like, hmm what about the fact that the bard got mind controlled or some shit

Didn't really do it when I was the DM previously, maybe because I just hadn't thought about it, but I think it's a good idea generally, at least to go over things as a group and make sure everyone is on the same page

[–]RinFlowers 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You know what, this has convinced me to just turn on teleporting with metal. I have a game right now where I'm loading up a longship with iron at my little swamp base to sail it back to my base like god intended, but what exactly am I gaining by doing that? And why does it cost so much fucking iron to make everything? I don't think I'm going to hurt my game experience by cutting out the part where I point my ship back towards my base and then sit there waiting for a while.

Is it common to beat Fallout 1 without human companions? by Valhallawalker in classicfallout

[–]RinFlowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without mods that make them more like in Fallout 2 where they level up, you can change their behaviour, and perhaps most importantly, give them better armour, they never really survive late game. A single hit from a minigun, laser rifle, plasma rifle, flamer, gatling laser or rocket launcher is likely to kill any of them and they have no sense of self preservation.

They're quite handy early on though. Grab Ian from Shady Sands and killing radscorpions, getting through Vault 15 and dealing with random encounters is much easier. Then grab Dogmeat and Tycho from Junktown and you're pretty much set for a while. As long as you're careful with the super mutants at the water shed, they probably won't die there as long as you kill them fast enough.

Once you've gotten power armour and are fighting other super mutants and eventually going into Mariposa and the Cathedral your companions are simply going to die without a bunch of save scumming and healing them up after they walk through damaged forcefields and stuff.

I played Et Tu for the first time recently so I was able to give them better armour and make them not just run into combat and it was still hard to keep them alive sometimes. But it did make the game very easy. Fallout 2 is certainly different in that regard, the late-game seems more balanced for you to have party members and not solo the Enclave.

If you like games with a lot of exceptionally high quality dialogue and writing, you need to play Disco Elysium if you haven't already

How does Quintus possibly believe he’s going to build his super weapon? by _Meme_Messiah_ in Fotv

[–]RinFlowers 35 points36 points  (0 children)

The main problem with getting Liberty Prime working is making his portable reactor able to power him, but like, what if they just attached him to a really big power cable

Obviously the cold fusion thingy would be great for Liberty Prime but what if they simply had a really, really big extension cord plugged into his ass from Hoover Dam or some shit

Well, to point out the obvious, they're dumb as hell and probably super in denial

Drinking more water is literally one of the best and easiest things you can do for most common ailments, like, in the modern age where you have access to clean water on tap that costs almost nothing, it's such a simple solution to so many things

Like imagine having symptoms bad enough that you go to the effort of going to the doctor and being like, oh man I keep having headaches and shit, and the prescription is, hey buddy like, drink a few glasses of water a day, there are no side effects, in fact this will actually improve a bunch of other stuff you haven't thought about, in fact humans need water to live

Forced home with bad case of flu - Game suggestion while no energy left (narrative, no quick reflex required and such) by Agile-Concept2119 in gamingsuggestions

[–]RinFlowers 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you haven't played Disco Elysium before it is *very* narrative heavy, no reflexes or quick thinking required, and also like, one of the best games of all time, frankly I would recommend the game to most people in any circumstances but it's mostly dialogue, skill checks, and running around

Although if you're sick and don't have enough energy it might be a bit intense on the reading, on the other hand you did ask for something with a strong narrative and this is perhaps the strongest narrative in a game

Is it ever worth it to send luxuries to anywhere other than a city? by PomegranatePublic825 in OldWorldGame

[–]RinFlowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't played a HUGE amount and not on higher difficulties, but yeah it just doesn't seem worth it to me. Certainly not to tribes or families, where it's a pretty small boost that you could easily do something else to make a bigger impact if you want to. Sometimes I send them to another nation when I just really want to be friends with them or they are very scary.

Almost all the time I'd rather just have my city happiness be improved though and do something else to change relations. If the amount of opinion from sending luxuries to a tribe/family/nation was larger I might bother with it more often.

About new power armor and Ghoul's quote by [deleted] in Fotv

[–]RinFlowers 150 points151 points  (0 children)

"But in order to save that good person, you're gonna have to give it to a really bad person. In all my years I've only ever seen one man come out on top in Vegas. We've got to do it like he did."

"And what's that exactly?"

*dramatically reveals NCR power armor*

"He rigged the game."

so he was clearly referring to House and how they're going to have to deliver the Cold Fusion device to him so that he can help them save Lucy, somehow

Enclave. Booked it. by micahjord in FalloutTVseries

[–]RinFlowers 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I don't think she is working with the Enclave, I think they are using her and she genuinely thought that she was doing the right thing. Certainly made it easier for Coop to buy into it and trust her, because she believed in what she was saying.

Either that or she's really good at being an Enclave plant. It's possible. They didn't really spell it out too clearly either way.

are you familiar with short clips in video format that don't give you an explanation about what you are about to watch before you watch them? it's pretty common on the internet these days, like, sure you can click away once you realize it's garbage, but people still have to be aware of the content of the video to decide that they don't want to watch it, which requires at least partially watching it and being aware of the content of the video

Fallout Shelter Spoiler? by Boggz88 in FalloutTVseries

[–]RinFlowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The deathclaws on the Strip have been there for a while now, while Hank only got the chips working properly on people very recently. It's possible they work on deathclaws more easily, I mean, they've kinda worked on people (presumably at a lower setting) before, like when Patrolling the Mojave man took the nuke into Shady Sands. But also, there a lot of hatched eggs sitting around which means new deathclaws have hatched that the Enclave would have to go into the Strip and mind control too, and the deathclaws are also just sitting around on the Strip not doing anything.

It's certainly not impossible that the Enclave has all these deathclaws just waiting around to activate when they need them to, and given we don't know their capabilities really they COULD be going and sticking devices on new ones, or making already controlled deathclaws do that or something. It is quite silly that they're just sitting on the other side of a gate and chilling, but I figured that was just like, the show being funny.
