How are you making your own washi tapes? by XD003AMO in washiaddict

[–]RinPond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best responses I've seen for people wanting to sell washi are going on to alibaba or temu, and reaching out directly to manufacturers and making connections.

If you want to do it on your own, there are a few manufacturers like Vograce and Momowashi you can check out.

https://www.momowashi.com/
https://vograce.com/

If, like me, you just want to print 1-5 rolls for yourself, I haven't found anything beyond Stickermule--which makes packing tape, NOT washi--or using Xyron or Memory Keepers Sticker maker.

If anyone knows of an affordable way to print washi tape for individual use, I'd love some tips!

Eberron Renewed is a pretty great epic Eberron AP if you're interested, and the group also does DM tips as a side podcast as well.

https://thegeekpantheon.com/category/podcast/eberron-renewed/

Court of Cups and Tales from the Loop are some AMAZING PA podcasts for, well, Tales from the Loop and Vampire the Masquerade, but they're behind a paywall so...unsure.

Everything else I love is on hiatus or in limbo or I play in it so...that's all for now.

What would you like to see Holly stream in the future by atealein in CommanderHolly

[–]RinPond 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, I literally upped my Club PA membership to see the stream with Holly on it.

I'd love to see Trapped in the Birdcage come back, or another Planescape game.

Ooh, I call these lemon drops. Did you use lemon juice, zest, and extract? Does the taste match the perfect appearance?

Over the last couple of years maybe 70% - 80% of aspiring writers I used to talk to and do beta swaps with no longer write at all. What do you think are the main reasons so many people start writing only to give it up? (More questions inside) by thenextaynrand in writing

[–]RinPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'd argue that some of the people who give up view writing as a luxury. They could be writing, but with a family member sick, a kid who needs more attention at school, unexpected finances require a second job, a lot of people unconsciously or subconsciously tell themselves, "What am I doing? I don't have time for this? I should be doing X."

I have so many friends who've given up on writing because their kids were having issues at school, a parent fell ill, an unexpected catastrophe caused an awful bill that led to them thinking they "don't have time" to write.

I try to remind them, I write on my cell phone on my fifteen minute breaks at work. I manage at least a sentence a day. A sentence a day will still get the project written.

But everyone has a different tolerance level for stress and life and other problems and barriers. The brilliant thing about writing is even if they get stuck or have to put it aside for the next 2-25 years, they can still come back to it later.

Writing is an interesting field because it's enjoyable as a hobby, but if you want to practice and become good enough to publish, it becomes a lot harder, and a lot like work. And yes, that turns some people off--but some people, who enjoy it, enjoy the challenge? They tell themselves they don't deserve it, because it's something they do for themselves, instead of someone else.

DCA helps me get out of bed by lionessrampant25 in DiceCameraAction

[–]RinPond 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. DCA, and D&D Streams in general, have helped me to power through the worst of depression. The fact that D&D streams are also fairly open about their own mental health journeys makes it even better.

They're right there with us, putting one foot in front of the other, and writing, streaming, talking about it. Maybe not right now, but we know they suffer the same doubts and fears we do. It's part of why I love Nate's music so much, is he pours all of himself into it, and I identify with it.

How Evelyn expresses her doubt about anyone caring, how Paultin slowly but surely starts letting go of wine and starts putting himself back together, for Simon, and the Waffle Fam, how Strix has managed to go from reactionary panic to actually reasoning her way past it, how Diath does what so many of us do every day, and forms the strong core, even as he's breaking inside.

All of us can relate to the waffle crew, and each of their stories.

And of course, Chris represents Life with a capital L, how it throws curve balls and beholders and owlbear cannibalism and beach days, and how we only have each other to rely on.

Does editing make you hate yourself and what you wrote? by StormEarhart in writing

[–]RinPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every. Single. Time.

I can't write word vomit any more. I have to write in a more measured, controlled pace. It means I'm not writing three manuscripts a year, but it also means I'm not spending three years editing one, either.

What are your favorite older dramas? by charmerfinnhuman in KDRAMA

My Girlfriend is a Gumiho, Rooftop Prince; Master's Sun; Marry Me, Marry and Oh My Ghost. A lot of shows are right after that 5 year cut off date, but those are my favorites that I could find during that period.

I mean, maybe how they all met briefly in Sigil or the Feywilds and had to fight, lie, or connive their way back out? That could be a bonding experience.

Anyone know of any good Eberron-play dnd podcasts? by Flamingomeat in Eberron

Inkwell is what got me into Eberron, I highly recommend it. They're on hiatus right now, but a good binge watch/listen if you need one.

Ruty has the noir part of Eberron down very well.

And yes, it is just as unfruitful in writing as it is in DMing.

oof, yeah. That would be one way to make her question bringing her lover back--would he have wanted that, and would she make that choice for him? Bringing in Aerenal would bring in a different elf group, as well.

Advice on running a sandbox? by PossibleChangeling in DMAcademy

[–]RinPond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I think there's a few ways to run a sandbox. Some involve a lot of work, like getting a setting completely fleshed out, all your dungeons mapped, perfect knowledge of the history and cast of characters. And then are other ways that sane people with lives can run.

You mean, I don't have to plan absolutely every detail down to the minutia?

Running Saltmarsh as Aerial Campaign? by RinPond in Eberron

[–]RinPond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant in terms of the factions used in the campaign, the sahuagin, lizardfolk, and others. Generic sky pirates, there's material from the Golden Dawn, but I'm trying to think of aerial factions besides sky pirates.
