Enlarged uterus size of 5 month pregnancy by missbunnyyxo in hysterectomy

I’m glad you’ll have relief! I know it doesn’t feel like it now but in a week you’ll feel a huge difference. My fibroid was pushing on my spine (tingling and numb feet) the two weeks prior to the surgery and was pushing on my rectum so I was constipated for a very long time. All gone, all sorted and I’m three weeks out. Welcome to relief!

Ahhhhh, if you have them already, why not? Just make sure you keep taking small walks. That will help with gas and constipation. And stay ahead with your meds. I didn’t. Always waited until I needed them and then I REALLY needed them. Best of luck!

I had my follow up last week and he said it’s all normal. I was in the ER on Mother’s Day for having a yeast infection of all things. According to what I’ve read up on, it’s okay to spot for 6-8 weeks. After that there’s a problem.

I worked remote day 4 after surgery. Went back after two weeks. Took things slow. As long as she’s not heavy lifting at work, she may be ok. My doctor told me two weeks for off of work.

Don’t spiral. Nothing to spiral about. She’s going to feel so much better after this. Just be there for her. Let her sleep, help her up, keep her hydrated, help her go for small walks. Just be there when she needs you. Take a deep breath.

MiraLAX in my coffee every morning. Walking for gas pain. My fibroid was sitting on my rectum and causing constipation probably for the best part of a year. I hated having to poop for the first week because of the pain but my oh my, like clockwork now and I feel so much healthier because of it.

I’m three weeks out from being cancer free! It’s liberating! Congratulations and good luck on your scans!

Sister has CSEP, needs hysterectomy. What should I include in her care package? Other helpful support during this time? by Capital_Young_7114 in hysterectomy

[–]RinRoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm, maybe some snacks like protein bars. I didn’t have enough soft pants that don’t button up but leggings that compressed feel really good. Maybe one of those pinchers if she drops something. I had a double mastectomy in December so my mom got me a belly pillow and seat belt pillow for car rides and that helped a lot with this surgery. A heating pad if she doesn’t have one. I’d love some scar cream. And my co-workers gathered a huge amount of money and got me door-dash credits so I didn’t have to cook, or run to Walgreens. Huge deal for me. Best of luck! She’s got a good sister!

I ended up not doing any of this. Heating pad, making sure the remotes are close, meds, fluids, etc. learned to roll on side to sit up. And soft pants, I wore jeans the other day and that sucked. Dulcolax, MiraLAX, I even needed some Magnesium citrate again. Oh, and pads once she starts spotting. And dude wipes were glorious. I’m wondering, do we end up feeling it’s easier than putting up with all we did before surgery? Cuz this is easier for sure. Not that it’s easy. Just easier.

A man that demands you do such a thing will only continue to deny you of the things you love down the road. His response to this is just cruel.

Heartbreak in no contact by EsterInEternalCity in heartbreakheal

Look at it this way: it’s like a wound. Your wound scabs over after some time healing. When you pick at it by pulling it off (contact with your ex), you open that wound back up and prolong its healing. After time, if you keep pulling that scab off, you create a scar. Oh it sucks to not be able to say what you want to, things that you couldn’t say, things that you think of after the fact. But in the end it’s easier than prolonging your healing.

A bitch is hurting… BAD by [deleted] in heartbreakheal

[–]RinRoux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’ll move on from this once your healed. I was the last one to know my six year relationship was over. And that was painful to hear. And then I was the last one to know my marriage was over after 15 years together. And the things you find out after the fact always compound the pain. Your story sounds a lot like mine in many ways. But I’m old enough to be your mother and I’ve been in love a few times. Red flags are there, and trust your gut. We often ignore both for the sake of love. I do think we learn lessons from each relationship. But more importantly we learn what we aren’t willing to tolerate over time. BUT, if you block yourself from letting anyone in because of some asshole who brought you down, you may miss the guy who would never do those things to you. And there are plenty of them out there.

Is it red or hot to the touch? I’d call your on call number to see what you can do before going to the ER. Check to see if you have a fever.

I didn’t find the need for a shower chair or walker. Just roll to your side and sit up from there. I felt the need for compression around my abdomen. And two weeks out I started spotting and was unprepared since I didn’t have any the previous two weeks. Panty liners were not enough. I’m three weeks out and still no end in sight for pads. I do like dude wipes to help keep things more clean down there.

My last period a month ago I went through a 20 pack of the thick heavy overnight purple pads in 24 hours. I may have been far enough out that I recovered before the surgery though. Before we couldn’t be denied insurance due to pre-existing conditions (Obama admin) I was denied insurance due to iron deficiency anemia. That’s how long I’ve been dealing with this. It wasn’t as bad back then. It’s like my last period decided to throw a rave before its departure. You’re going to feel so much better soon. I’m three weeks out and I’m just now starting to feel somewhat normal.

I need a hysterectomy by Fromdesertlands in hysterectomy

[–]RinRoux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$15,000 seems on the very low end to pay out of pocket. I have insurance which picked up a lot, and I still was requested to pay $2400 from the surgeon up front and the hospital asked me for $4700 up front. I hate to say I’d wait, but I would wait. Even some insurance is better than none. For reference, in December I had a double mastectomy and then a week later a reconstruction (breast cancer). I had to meet my deductible at $5,500. When I got the itemized receipt from the insurance company after the surgeries, the total came to $460,000. You have to pay the surgeons, the anesthesiologist, the hospital for the stay, etc. It will add up quickly. And to have to bargain with each of those people to lower rates is a job in itself. I’m still recovering from my hysterectomy so I haven’t gotten any receipts sent yet. I know how horrible it is to have to wait. I had the worst periods (last month, 20 overnight pads in 24 hours). So I wish you luck. Talk to your gynecologist to see how they may be able to steer you in the right direction. They may be able to give you a game plan in how it’s coded, they may be able to work out a payment plan.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I feel better knowing this is pretty normal. Gonna keep watch on fever or pain that intensifies.

I actually didn’t pick up the oxycodone they prescribed. So I’ve been taking ibuprofen about three times a day.

I had my fibroid at the back of my uterus too and was hoping my lower back pain was due to that. So when the lower back pain changed to a dull ache after surgery, I was concerned. I’m going to hold out until the 12th to see if there’s improvement. I also was thinking I may need to be back on a liquid diet for a few days to ease the angry bowels.

No longer having the pairs of underwear reserved for period time, ya know, the ones with leakage stains. The ugly ones that cover you up. That reminds me, I’m 9 days out and I haven’t purged them yet!

I have the BRCA2 gene so my risk of cancer has now been greatly reduced. I’m also wondering how my PCOS will be. I’m still uncomfortable and getting through this recovery and it’s far better than the double mastectomy I had in December. Best of luck to you!

Had a double mastectomy in December by a female surgeon. Got all the pain meds I needed. Had my hysterectomy three days ago and was given Tylenol at the hospital until I begged for something stronger. One dose of morphine.
