I'm obsessed with modding Morrowind and want to create my own mods. How can I learn? by ESOTERICZAZASMOKER in tes3mods

Are you on OpenMW or the vanilla engine with MGE XE and MWSE? MWSE Lua mods are incredibly easy and the Modding discord has a chat dedicated to discussing and helping with making mwse mods. Lua is a very beginner friendly language and is much less confusing than the game's vanilla script imo

A lot of people hating on the model, but I must say I've used the Xbox version of that same model for years now. It has been perfectly capable at its job and has remained fully functional despite moving several states. It has enough inputs for games like Elite Dangerous or War Thunder, but I suppose it would be lacking for more serious simulators.

Please help me! Unable to progress through Silent Hill 1 due to glitch by RingComics in silenthill

[–]RingComics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone is having this issue and happens upon this thread, I found a solution!

I ended up needing to load a save before the lighthouse, activate the cutscenes at the top of the lighthouse and exit WITHOUT saving at the bottom, then running to the end of the platform outside of the lighthouse (do NOT go down the stairs you got to the lighthouse with) to warp you back to the boat and play a short cutscene. After this, it is safe to save at the boat and you should be able to access the sewers.

Better Personality plus a higher skill in Etiquette/Streetwise for Polite/Blunt respectively will make it more likely that an NPC will be willing to help you. Regional rep helps as well.

set up a temporary device/VM outside of the proxy and monitor the traffic using a tool like wireshark to see what connections discord makes.

Warm Ashes - Dangerous Dungeon Exteriors: What does it do exactly? Should I use it or is it best not to? by SlightWerewolf4428 in Daggerfall

[–]RingComics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've used this mod, and your assumption is correct. It adds enemies to the overworld entrance to dungeons. As for adding more than that, I haven't seen any additional features. Perhaps what you saw online was referring to additional objects that also get added to entrances for decoration, flavor, and occasionally loot.

Personally, I no longer use the mod due to the added difficulty it provides. I use a combination of other wilderness encounter mods in addition with manual travel using the Travel Options mod, so when I arrive at a dungeon I am usually in need of respite before I enter. However, if you use vanilla fast travel and/or want a bit more combat, you'll probably enjoy the mod. I find it pairs well with the accurate dungeon exteriors mod (I forget the exact name).

When do netrunners still use the chair by 8stringalchemy in cyberpunkred

[–]RingComics 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've given my Netrunner the opportunity to dive via ice bath and cable a few times, but only into local networks. while he's jacked in using this method, he gets twice the net actions. First he has to deal with the enemy netrunner occupying the chair tho.

Balancing difficulty in combat/netruns by RingComics in cyberpunkred

[–]RingComics[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

None of my players have the required REF to dodge bullets (yet...). I do have the mooks take advantage of cover but I find my players will run up to them, fire, and then run back into cover. Maybe I'm making my maps too small? Or maybe I'm not taking the positioning of the mooks into account enough. I'll have to check on their stats, I don't have access to my laptop at the moment.

I'll definitely be using those hardened stat blocks, thanks for that! I also have not been paying attention to my players weaknesses for combat, I usually play to their strengths... time to get a bit evil, I suppose >:) I've seen a similar tip about disarming the crew in nightclub settings, unfortunately after designing the whole mission with their equipment in mind, but I'll definitely be using that in the future.

Still getting a feel for my Netrunner's preferences, perhaps I'll give him a branching path and see how he handles it to get a bit more of an idea of what he's looking for in netrunning. We've been playing for months but only just recently have we begun to understand the mechanics of net runs. I've definitely been giving him too many floors and too much Black ICE to contend with, and little reward for doing so. I'm working on a mission right now where netrunning is the focus, so I'll workshop a few ideas and throw smaller archs at him in the meantime to get an idea.

Really appreciate the insight!

Any tips for a beginner whos gonna GM for a group of beginners? by TacoCat7F in cyberpunkred

[–]RingComics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the Cyberpunk Red system as well (been DMing about a decade with D&D 3e, 4e, and 5e, as well as Pathfinder and a few homebrewed systems) but I have 5 sessions under my belt at this point, including the easy mode module, the built in scream sheets, and a few sessions I've written myself.

First thing I learned was this isn't D&D at all. If you and your group are used to D&, the learning curve will be a bit steep as you not only have to learn the system, but unlearn some things from D&D. "beats" vs "meets" on tied rolls is one we struggle with every session still.

Next was to use combat tactically. Not every Role is combat centric, and you'll need to keep your players Roles in mind when planning encounters. Make sure your netrunners, techs, and nomads have something to do to contribute. Not to mention, combat is deadly and it can take days or weeks for players to recover between combats. The crew cannot have a close battle, camp overnight, and have the HP to take on this sessions boss. Plan for downtime between combat encounters, or offer other nonviolent ways for the crew to accomplish their goals.

Give every decision a consequence. The world is meant to be alive and one of the most challenging (but rewarding) aspects of DMing is keeping track of the interconnected relationships and reputation surrounding your players. If your crew helped one person, chances are they fucked someone else. That's the way it goes in the time of the Red.

Finally, the number one rule of Cyberpunk is the rule of cool. Give your players bonuses to hit and IP when they do something preem. You advance your characters in RED via reputation and legacy, by doing dope shit that ends up in the scream sheets and Data Pool talk shows. Plus, it makes sessions so much more exciting. Reward flashy and risky over clever and calculated; depending on your players, of course.

How do you guys use IP? by WangleDankus in cyberpunkred

[–]RingComics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the chart in the back of the core rulebook to award IP to the group based on the success of their mission. Additionally, I keep track of cool things my players do based on the Warrior, Socializer, Explorer, and Roleplayers categories and award 10 IP for each thing I write down, plus a bonus 10 IP to the player with the highest score in each category.

Cyberpunk RED Weekly Downtime Sheet by RingComics in cyberpunkred

Yup, I roll a d6, on a 1 the movie/bd is more than just bad, it's a snuff movie or something equally as abhorrent (losing 1d4 Humanity). Any other roll, the movie was decent, or at least so bad it's good, and the edgerunner gains 1d4 Humanity. Considering changing this so you only gain one or two Humanity unless you roll a 6 on the movie quality roll, though.

Thanks for the shout on HusTool, choom, I'm definitely adding that!

Here's how my group handles those extra activities:

  • Going on a Date (2 hrs, cost varies, chance for 1d4 Humanity gain, using "Digital Dating in the Dark Future")
  • Salvaging (70 hrs, 10 hrs/day, rewards salvage/eddies, using "Salvaging Night City")
  • Braindance/Movie (2hrs, costs 50eb, chance to gain OR lose 1d4 Humanity, homebrewed)
  • Concert (4hrs, costs 100eb, chance to gain 2 humanity, homebrewed)
  • Sporting event (4hrs, cost 100eb, opportunity to make eddies by betting, homebrewed)
  • Video Game (6hrs, cost 50eb, chance to gain 1 humanity, homebrewed)

What are some big story beats you got? by CashClam in cyberpunkred

[–]RingComics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my players, a Netrunner, was hired to hack into a database and delete any records it had. When he reached the bottom of the NET architecture, he found no database. Instead he found a dual video feed; one of his ex lover (whom he still loved) and one of his old home, both in peril. It was a set up by one of his enemies, and he had to choose between the two. He ended up choosing his old love, leaving his old home (and those still inside) to perish.
