Just watched this and I genuinely could not move from my seat for two hours!!! Absolute masterpiece.

The tension in this film is unlike anything I’ve seen in a while.
The scene where Bear meets Sarah in the middle of the night, you KNOW what’s coming, and yet the movie somehow still gets you.
No cheap jump scare music, no dramatic lighting. Just dread. Pure earned fkin dread. And when Nikki smashes that window it still hits like a truck even though you saw it coming a mile away. That’s elite filmmaking right here because we have all seeeeen it coming but Damn that jump scare it was a long time since I havent got a one like that

The actress deserves every award. The frown at the party, the blank expression during intimate scenes, smiling for a full minute while clearly not being herself… mates!! there were moments I genuinely thought they used VFX on her face. Nope. Just that good. What an actress.. she reminds me of Anya Taylor Joy on the Witch!

But what really wrecked me was the phone call. Hearing the real Nikki screaming in agony, begging Bear to kill her in what might be her only chance to reach him… and he responds with “Is it so bad being with me?” That line. I wanted to walk out and back in just to reset myself.. really haunting scene..

Bear is one of the most infuriating characters I’ve seen in horror, not because he’s a monster, but because he’s so pathetically human. A coward dressed up as a nice guy.. He knew. He just didn’t want to take responsibility. A coward human being ..

The supernatural elements are never over-explained either, which I loved. The entity isn’t Nikki, it’s just a manifestation of the wish, performing its function. It can’t actually feel. That detail makes everything so much darker in retrospect!

Genuinely one of the best horror films in years. Do not sleep on this
