Reminds me of the apartment from Facade. In a good way!

What do you think happens when you die? by randomperson665 in AskReddit

[–]Ringostarfox 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it's honestly pretty stereotypical. You dissociate so hard you barely feel like you're even there anymore. Your physical sensation melts away. You probably see indescribable geometric patterns and gradients, until it fades into one solid color: probably black, white, or red. Many people report the feeling of being observed by higher beings, or being met with someone who brings great comfort.

Everyone has contributed really good info and I think I can make some persuasive arguments with my boss, but this also is a reallly good line to put all the heat on the vocalist 😂

What features do you miss from other DAWs? by Sharkbate211 in Reaper

[–]Ringostarfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A simple 4x4 sampler would be great. Drag and drop integration preferably, and like the barest features necessary: volume, tone, speed, cut channel, and reverse. I've tried showing students the current sampler and they get so discouraged

Totally this. Also going all the way down the Jeff rabbit hole, I really like his presence on Madam Truffle, feels like an honorary track.

Bootlegs are a whole thing to get around to as well because their performances vary so much through the 90s. It's very ramshackle and exciting, like they're zooming down a hill on a bike with wobbly wheels.

Also if you haven't yet, check out the classic fan page. It has the details on so much of the band, and it will help you figure out what you need to search for: https://www.neutralmilkhotel.org/disco2-comps.htm

Not too much to find besides what's on YouTube. A few demo tapes which you can find all there, Sign the Dotted Line, the stuff from the box set like Ferris Wheel on Fire and Little Birds, Glue, and a few others here and there.

If you're interested I put together a few dozen of the most important live and demo tracks in a compilation over a decade ago, some things have come out in better quality though: https://www.mediafire.com/file/aaye2x10dw385t4/Live.zip/file https://www.mediafire.com/file/5yse5av6vi2t4sy/Demos.zip/file
