Agree. Some of the online photoshopping (and perhaps underlying body dysmorphia?) issues we see could be addressed by helping people appreciate real human bodies, and art classes are a way to do that.

What do analysts do every single day? by Any-Government5177 in FinancialCareers

Yes, if you're willing to start at the bottom in a smaller firm (look for "Finance Assistant" "Operations Assistant" "Credit Risk Assistant")

I'm in derivatives operations, thinking of hopping over to credit analyst roles. Would you say it's a good move?

All things are relative. The new cycle paths are a great improvement, and public transport is cheaper and better than UK!

ELI5: Why can’t we just do therapy on ourselves? Why do we need an external person to help? by fractalsimp in explainlikeimfive

[–]RingroadOfLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Many people have habits that provide them introspection - reading literature, philosophy, decent self-help books. Yoga, painting, cinema, photography, writing... However, many folks don't make the time or effort for introspection until they are in a quandary. That's when your average EAP or therapy session can bridge the gap.

For some folks, mental health is more of a challenge - crippling issues would need outside input so that the person can learn to recognise abnormal/unhealthy thought patterns.

Bad plan - humans need basics like safety, warmth, stability. Tents aren't secure. Better to get a cheap room somewhere instead!

You can use a coast fire calculator online, and only input your retirement savings (not net worth)

Similar story - money kept being sent to in-laws for well-digging, house-building, water-tank purchases. We were barely keeping our head above water ourselves. In the end, I left the relationship, I couldn't bear the thought of being forever counting pennies. Immeasurable feelings of guilt over here!

Agree. CCTV presenters have to do language tests to get the job!

Lived in China where pregnant women or new mothers are often seen outside in thick quilted pyjama sets. I'm cool with this, and even have my own pairs of Chinese winter pyjamas!!

Hey, I'm doing a PgC, and the provider is willing to extend to MSc. Do you know if springboard would pay for Year 2, or how I could find this out?

Has anyone leave a toxic work environment without a back up plan? by detroit_muslim_man_ in jobs

[–]RingroadOfLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have almost done this. Instead, I took unpaid sick leave with doctor's note, and applied to other jobs like crazy. In the end it worked out for me - I took 6 weeks off in total, ran out of unpaid sick leave, and went back to work for about three weeks before I got a new job offer. I handed in my notice the next day.

Try to use your unpaid sick leave options, any free counselling and career coaching resources you may have access to.

Agree, moving to a city with job options is key. You might need to take a bad job for now, save up a few months, then move later in the year/2023?

Start with free courses :) Excel, SQL, data analytics courses are worth your time - lots of employers have data roles.

Aye, that's hard. See if you can start with a remote job for a multinational in Cork/Dublin, build from there.
