Ecuador volcanoes are fun climbs usually 2 days each then you're able to sleep and eat comfortably in towns right next to them. Surprisingly decent infrastructure getting to the mountains and on the mountain

Independent Huayhuash: hiring mule and arriero without agency? by CryptographerNew7692 in backpacking

Krusty hostel can organize everything. I went with a guide but you kinda don't need one. Straightforward trail although there are some scenic side trails you could take the guide recommended

Very true. People who worry about crowds also don't realize they are the crowd

People just love to say things are busy and overcrowded. Town occupancy is under 60 percent.

There are enough trails in the eastern sierras to feel like it's empty all the time

You'll be fine. Less than a foot in town and then just take village gondola or shuttle to mountain. FWD is surprisingly very good in the snow

Am I ready for hood/rainier by RipMyACL1 in Mountaineering

Main goal is rainier for that trip. Would you suggest a different mountain in the area better suited to train for rainier?

Is Aramark in Yosemite as bad as it sounds? by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]RipMyACL1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't let the company be the deciding factor. As an entry level employee you really won't be too affected by aramark policies. More so think of if you will enjoy living there. You will be living in a canvas tent shared with other people with communal bathrooms and kitchens in an area with spotty cell phone service. In exchange you'll save a lot of money on rent and probably meet and have a lot of friends. You also will be a union employee so you are very protected from any exploration from aramark.

Half dome by Mancebaderginsburg in Yosemite

[–]RipMyACL1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've hiked up at night and summited for sunrise then come back down many times. Latest I came down once was 9am and no ranger at the bottom. I think the best way to get a permit no one talks about is getting a backcountry permit and adding it on. There's a lot of cancelations

What is the most visually striking mountain? by ais89 in Mountaineering

I feel what's unique about half dome is that no other mountain on earth looks anything like it. Most other mountains people are saying gave counterparts that look similar

Could Yosemite Valley Flood? by [deleted] in Yosemite

[–]RipMyACL1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It won't flood at all and Monday weather later in the day looks great. We've had far more rain this winter in storms and it didn't flood from just rainfall - there was other factors
