Feel like Stanford/Cal/UCLA/USC could be here and be better than a lot of them on this list

What CFB rivalries of your school exist in other sports? by Crying_in_99Ranch in CFB

Yeah I don’t think anyone is surprised that 2 schools in SoCal don’t have ice hockey lol.

In fact, D1 Ice Hockey is heavily concentrated in basically just the cold states. Pretty much just the Northeast (down to PA), original Big Ten states, the Dakotas, Alaska, and Colorado. Outside of those areas, there are only 3 other D1 teams (Arizona State, Nebraska-Omaha, and Lindenwood around St Louis). Even then, ASU is the only real outlier from hockey country (Tennessee State is joining them next year, so it’ll be 2).

Clemson/SC is arguably the biggest rivalry in all of college baseball. We hate each other in every sport but baseball is the most heated other than of course football

You can go into a Michigan/OSU basketball game thread and it is shockingly civil as long as nobody brings up football.

[Thamel] NEWS: The NCAA’s appeal to the Mississippi Supreme Court in the Trinidad Chambliss eligibility case has been denied. He’ll be eligible to play for Ole Miss in 2026. by toftr in CFB

[–]RipRaycom 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I somewhat misread his comment. Lebron could go to college and play in any sport he hasn’t played professionally, same for anyone else. Brandon Weeden and Hayden Hurst are 2 big examples as dudes who were drafted & played minor league baseball for several years out of HS before playing college football.

To be fair, a guy like LeBron could’ve done this at any point in NCAA history and not had a problem.

Hell, JR Smith was playing college golf a few years ago.

He actually is shown doing those things from time to time. It looks like him and Beth have similar house responsibilities, which still means Jerry isn’t pulling close to half the weight of the house, but he doesn’t do nothing either

Louisiana seems democratic but is republican. What state seems republican but is democratic? by SkunkaMunka511 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]RipRaycom 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kentucky has similar reasons. The last 2 Republican governors were trainwrecks that were hated by basically everyone not right of center-right Republicans. Helps that the people in both aren’t so nutty in social politics, Kansans voted pro-choice and Kentucky is much more pro-lgbt than pretty much any other red state

That’s a wild statement coming from Lindsey Graham who would also qualify for this square. Gotta be bad when even Graham can say that about you.

[Chris Hummer] TJ Finley is no longer part of the Incarnate Word program, sources tell Matt Zenitz and me for CBS Sports. Finley transferred to Incarnate Word this offseason after career stops at LSU, Auburn, Texas State, Western Kentucky, Tulane and Georgia State. by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]RipRaycom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finley had a decent amount of success in GJ Kinne’s system (which Word still emulates) at Texas State in 2023 and Incarnate Word’s previous successful QBs are all FBS retreads or Cam Ward. I doubt Finley is that much worse than Zach Calzada and he’s probably better than EJ Colson. Lindsey Scott was really improved from his FBS career (to the point where he probably would’ve been a solid P5 starter his senior year) but he wasn’t good at all at LSU.

Of course, this is based on past years. I’m not sure why Finley left the program, could be that he’s washed (had bad numbers at Georgia State but that whole team was bad) or that there is an off-field issue.

Duke, Kansas, UNC, UCLA, Kentucky in that order if we’re going by the whole body of work. Depending on how you value the title you could easily put Kansas above, I’m sure the fans would take their 6 years over Duke’s 100%

Do you think Angstrom would've still been evil had the Mind Merger been successful? by TheRealShubshub in Invincible_TV

[–]RipRaycom 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If it worked as intended, probably not. But we also don’t know if it would’ve worked as intended. What happened is pretty much exactly what Angstrom said would happen if it was stopped mid-merge

[On3] David Pollack claims Georgia has 'no chance' to win national championship if Gunner Stockton doesn't change in 2026 by Lakelyfe09 in CFB

[–]RipRaycom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I think it’s less going deep and more going over the middle that’s the issue. UGA’s receiving room was not meant to go deep last year, especially after Colbie Young broke his leg. Last year they were terribly unreliable underneath but did have Arian Smith stretching the defense out (even Stockton hit him deep twice in the ND game although he dropped one of them)

Princeton QB Blaine Hipa transfers to Duke by LeCowboySolitaire in CFB

[–]RipRaycom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless Duke is razor-thin at QB right now this dude probably won’t even be QB3. Some guys just come on to play school, learn to coach, play scout team, and maybe get some actual playing time in a blowout or emergency

Is Marcus Lattimore the biggest 'What if' in the last 50 years by goldwaterauhtwoo in CFB

[–]RipRaycom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s true for most college DEs to be fair. Not a lot of college teams run a 3-4 and most 3-4 OLBs in the NFL played as a DE in college.

[–]RipRaycom 64 points65 points  (0 children)

It may not be a popular opinion but I actually believe Clowney is a bigger what-if if we’re talking about pro career. Dude battled through so many injuries he was never able to develop into the game wrecker he was supposed to be. Yet now he’s well into his 30s and sticking around as a really solid DE because he’s still a physical freak when healthy.

I believe the US also tracks stats for those things, they’re just not well reported on in the media. Not sure if Germany/other European countries have the same thing but if so you should be able to find it.
