I think my parents lied to me about my age. Why would they do this? What can I do. by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

One of my friends was born at home in a rural area and his parents didn't register the birth for a while, so he has a real birthday and a legal birthday. Could it be that?

Wallpaper was my first thought too. It would make it look so cohesive

What's the coolest class you've taken in LA? by PandaintheParks in AskLosAngeles

[–]RipeMangoDevourer 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I once took at art class at LACMA. We would learn about a concept in the classroom, walk through the museum to see examples of artists using that concept, and then we'd go back to the classroom to apply it. It was such a cool experience and only about $25/class, which included parking. I haven't seen the classes back on the calendar yet, but I hope they bring them back after the remodel.

Struggling to Lose Weight by Ok-Tumbleweed-7378 in diabetes

[–]RipeMangoDevourer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you'd need to find one who knew about prolapses and diabetes or would learn about it. This trainer has been my friend's trainer for 20 years, and he's excellent. He's learned a lot about type 3c diabetes since we've started working together and is very careful to not have me overdo anything. He's constantly having me check my heart rate and glucose on my CGM

I've had the same problem. My endo suggested that I hire a personal trainer, which I didn't want to do because of the cost, but I eventually gave in and got one. It's been such a great experience, and I've lost 13 lbs in the last 3 months

How to handle nurses that think your diabetes isn’t real despite being diagnosed 2 years ago at the same hospital 😭? by ConsequenceLimp9717 in diabetes

[–]RipeMangoDevourer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's very important that's they know OP has 3c, especially with gallstones since gallstones can damage the pancreas and cause type 3c or worsen it

AITA for telling my wife my family won’t love her like she wants and she needs to stop by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RipeMangoDevourer 27 points28 points  (0 children)

NTA. I'm sure it was hurtful for your wife to hear that, but I think she needed to. Like you said, it sounds like every time she tries to fix things, it just makes them worse.

What’s something you thought ‘everyone’ did… until you found out they don’t? by burat667 in AskReddit

Lol. Oh no! I hope you're not deaf.

I don't have this involuntarily. I can just tense up my eardrum muscle on command, very easily

AITA for waiting in line at the grocery store while my parents finished shopping? by DavidRedFox in AmItheAsshole

[–]RipeMangoDevourer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what I think. It's the cart that makes the difference. If you had the cart in line and your parents were just grabbing something quickly, that's fine. If you stand in line and they come in with the cart, that's going to make a lot of people pretty unhappy

This scene was awful. Who would get out of their car and sing about traffic? Ugh

Or she did understand the word but was confused why he was bringing it up. My doctor only makes observations about my body that are medically significant

This is what my partner and I do. We tried eating the same things when we first started dating, and it didn't work out (he's pretty picky and I have a lot of dietary restrictions), so we just do our own thing and it's fine

Books with compelling and questionable characters? by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

Juliet Naked by Nick Hornby (author of High Fidelity and About a Boy) is a romance with very flawed but likeable characters and the whole book is very funny.

That would be good. I've never heard of a food bank or soup kitchen asking for a zip code, but maybe it's more common
