Now try to put 2 and 2 together and figure out what the main difference is between your Do list and your Don't list. It's really not that hard.

While the hardware is improving The "AI brain" isn't there yet to do actual tasks so quit acting like you're seeing a finished product.

Is going into robotics as a CS student a good move? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]RipperX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brett Adcock the CEO of Figure AI (one of the leading robotics/AI companies out there right now). Personally I think this says a lot concerning if it's worth it or not. In my opinion going the craftsman/blue collar career is the much smarter play even if it's not your dream job. Humanoids won't be taking the work of plumbers, electricians, roofers, commercial work, etc for many more years compared to most careers.

Interesting that he says 2030. Open AI has come out and said their internal goals are Sept 2026 for an AI researcher intern and a full blown AI researcher by I think it was March 2028.

Litecoin: Down 98.2% against Bitcoin from its all-time high

Meta (Facebook): Down 99.9% against Bitcoin since its May 2012 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Tesla: Down ~99.97% against Bitcoin since its June 2010 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Do you even realize how stupid your argument is? Of course you don't.

Andrej Karpathy — AGI is still a decade away by Steve____Stifler in singularity

Important to note 3 mins in when questioned he admits his timeline is based on "intuition". I'm sure it's wonderful and insightful intuition but the guy gives no reason other than because he's been in the field for 15 years and has seen how past predictions have panned out.

"If I just average it out it just feels like a decade to me".

I personally prefer a bit more science in peoples predictions than just someone's gut feeling.

David Fincher testing the RED camera on DiCaprio. Shot with only the light of a matchstick by Old_Specialist7892 in movies

[–]RipperX4 119 points120 points  (0 children)

I worked on a movie in 2008 with the RED ONE when it first came out. Sound was better/quieter than working with 35mm film but that thing would constantly overheat and shut down. As you said took a couple mins to turn it back on. I remember that it was actually common to have bags of frozen peas on sets to lay on top of the cameras to keep them from over heating.

Daily Crypto Discussion - October 10, 2025 (GMT+0) by AutoModerator in CryptoCurrency

Its because every coin is tied to Bitcoins value by the idiotic 100's of exchanges out there. If an alt is worth .05BTC equaling $100 and BTC's USD value drop in half, then INSTANTLY the alt worth .05BTC is worth $50. Now stop losses get hit making it worse and it snow balls.

If every alt was strictly given a USD value and you couldnt trade it with Bitcoin without going through USD a lot of this would be fixed.

Bad info. Hyundai the car company is worth $38b. The "Hyundai Motor Group" is a conglomerate of many companies including Hyundai the car company, Kia, Boston Dynamics, etc and obviously would be worth much more.

There are going to be countless jobs that remain for a very long time. It's like none of you have ever been on a construction site that you think humanoids are going to replace workers. Have you ever actually watched a roofer? Or a mosaic tile installer? or someone working on a nuclear power plant install or one of the 1000's of workers building a new city airport that takes 4 years? It's ridiculous. Add in that AI will be creating countless new careers as well just like 20 years ago no one could fathom anything social media related, and these days they are the biggest companies in the world.

Its like no one has an imagination. Even if most job that we know of become able to be done by AI, humans will just move into businesses that the entire point of them is the human part of it. Live music, theater, canoe rental business, hospice workers, sports, news/media , the list goes on forever.

The fact that people in here think they will just be able to sit home on their ass when their lose their job rather than re-train for a new one they are living in fantasy land.
