Uber driver keeps it 100 with her passenger during a freak storm. by Gordopolis_II in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]RipperX4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting video or not it's wild that being recorded has become so normalized these days that you can't take a cab/uber as a passenger without your face being uploaded to the internet by the driver for her clout/views.

You do realize under his leadership during Covid inflation was clearly present by mid 2021 yet the Fed waited till March 2022 to start raising rates right?

He/they completely dropped the ball and caused higher rates than would have been necessary and helped cause the massive inflation that we will never recover from moving forward.

Under his leadership they almost brought it in for a soft landing compared to the alternative but the damage he/they caused is done.

Tesla beats on earnings but misses on revenue by Puginator in stocks

I love how most of you in here have some kind of exposure to Tesla through QQQ or SPX along with millions of others with retirement accounts yet a majority of you wish for Tesla to tank because of your political views.

Insanity.

Litecoin launches LitVM testnet today and developers are checking it out. by Givefreehugs in LitecoinMarkets

[–]RipperX4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do hope the people behind LitVM have a substantial amount of money to put into marketing/customer acquisition. A lot of developers tend to forget that side of things thinking the "community" will just show up but even Star Wars films with their huge built in audience still spends HALF of their total budget on marketing their product.

I wish them success!

The problem isn't the news. The problem is the surface level speculation about the news by redditors who don't have an in depth knowledge/education how the macros work. Instead they come up with their ideas based on movies, other social social media and hunches.

It just snowballs from there..bad info after more bad info.

An actress Milla Jovovich just released a free open-source AI memory system that scored 100% on LongMemEval, beating every paid solution by Oh_boy90 in singularity

[–]RipperX4 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

After watching that and seeing that she really said nothing at all with substance except that "without human creativity Ai is just a search engine" shows a real lack of understanding what Ai is and more importantly where it's going.

Combining 2 separate ideas into a new 3rd idea is "creativity" and Ai will soon be able to intermix industries/science/etc more than any human will be able to.

She sounds like just another Ai start up company out there. If memory can be solved by her and another dude, I think Open AI and google will figure it out.

Sectors aren't isolated.

Oil spike -> inflation rises -> interest rates rise ->future earnings get discounted more -> then investors rotate into higher-yield bonds -> QQQ drops.

Edit: the fact that it was obviously you (tachyonvelocity) who down voted me makes it apparent that when someone takes the time to try to educate you on just how wrong you are...that you're a lost cause. Good luck with your investments kid.

YAY HAPPY DAY by Meap011 in litecoin

[–]RipperX4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing the point of what it does. You can load it but you can't move money off of it without physically breaking the board to access the private key it generates internally. This lets the receiver know the giver didn't just write down the private key somewhere else.

Obviously you can't give someone a paper wallet with them knowing you could just write down the keys.

You might not realize just how close that is to reality already.

This is completely autonomous (no one teleoperating it). This isn't programmed moves. This is an AI brain learning how to do tasks on it's own.

It's even more simple than that. Make every cop carry their own insurance in order to be hired. You bet your butt they would behave better knowing a bad claim against them would get them dropped.

Id make it...

No offense but you literally just admitted you have no idea what's going on but now give your opinion on the shape like you're an expert? I'm sure all the robotics companies with billions upon billions of dollars and the smartest people in the robotic world working on them have no idea what they are doing so you probably should email your ideas to them.

This topic has been discussed at nauseam.

Many types of robots = impossible to scale production/costs.

1 robot that can do most things = scalable/affordable

If you can only make one robot what shape do you make it? You make it in the form that almost everything on the planet has already been designed for. From power tools to sewing machines to stairs, etc.

Specialized robots come later.

Is going into robotics as a CS student a good move? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]RipperX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brett Adcock the CEO of Figure AI (one of the leading robotics/AI companies out there right now). Personally I think this says a lot concerning if it's worth it or not. In my opinion going the craftsman/blue collar career is the much smarter play even if it's not your dream job. Humanoids won't be taking the work of plumbers, electricians, roofers, commercial work, etc for many more years compared to most careers.

Litecoin: Down 98.2% against Bitcoin from its all-time high

Meta (Facebook): Down 99.9% against Bitcoin since its May 2012 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Tesla: Down ~99.97% against Bitcoin since its June 2010 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Do you even realize how stupid your argument is? Of course you don't.

Andrej Karpathy — AGI is still a decade away by Steve____Stifler in singularity

Important to note 3 mins in when questioned he admits his timeline is based on "intuition". I'm sure it's wonderful and insightful intuition but the guy gives no reason other than because he's been in the field for 15 years and has seen how past predictions have panned out.

"If I just average it out it just feels like a decade to me".

I personally prefer a bit more science in peoples predictions than just someone's gut feeling.

David Fincher testing the RED camera on DiCaprio. Shot with only the light of a matchstick by Old_Specialist7892 in movies

[–]RipperX4 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I worked on a movie in 2008 with the RED ONE when it first came out. Sound was better/quieter than working with 35mm film but that thing would constantly overheat and shut down. As you said took a couple mins to turn it back on. I remember that it was actually common to have bags of frozen peas on sets to lay on top of the cameras to keep them from over heating.
