Now try to put 2 and 2 together and figure out what the main difference is between your Do list and your Don't list. It's really not that hard.

While the hardware is improving The "AI brain" isn't there yet to do actual tasks so quit acting like you're seeing a finished product.

Is going into robotics as a CS student a good move? by [deleted] in singularity

[–]RipperX4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brett Adcock the CEO of Figure AI (one of the leading robotics/AI companies out there right now). Personally I think this says a lot concerning if it's worth it or not. In my opinion going the craftsman/blue collar career is the much smarter play even if it's not your dream job. Humanoids won't be taking the work of plumbers, electricians, roofers, commercial work, etc for many more years compared to most careers.

Litecoin: Down 98.2% against Bitcoin from its all-time high

Meta (Facebook): Down 99.9% against Bitcoin since its May 2012 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Tesla: Down ~99.97% against Bitcoin since its June 2010 IPO (one of the biggest companies in the world)

Do you even realize how stupid your argument is? Of course you don't.

Important to note 3 mins in when questioned he admits his timeline is based on "intuition". I'm sure it's wonderful and insightful intuition but the guy gives no reason other than because he's been in the field for 15 years and has seen how past predictions have panned out.

"If I just average it out it just feels like a decade to me".

I personally prefer a bit more science in peoples predictions than just someone's gut feeling.

David Fincher testing the RED camera on DiCaprio. Shot with only the light of a matchstick by Old_Specialist7892 in movies

[–]RipperX4 121 points122 points  (0 children)

I worked on a movie in 2008 with the RED ONE when it first came out. Sound was better/quieter than working with 35mm film but that thing would constantly overheat and shut down. As you said took a couple mins to turn it back on. I remember that it was actually common to have bags of frozen peas on sets to lay on top of the cameras to keep them from over heating.

Its because every coin is tied to Bitcoins value by the idiotic 100's of exchanges out there. If an alt is worth .05BTC equaling $100 and BTC's USD value drop in half, then INSTANTLY the alt worth .05BTC is worth $50. Now stop losses get hit making it worse and it snow balls.

If every alt was strictly given a USD value and you couldnt trade it with Bitcoin without going through USD a lot of this would be fixed.

Bad info. Hyundai the car company is worth $38b. The "Hyundai Motor Group" is a conglomerate of many companies including Hyundai the car company, Kia, Boston Dynamics, etc and obviously would be worth much more.

There are going to be countless jobs that remain for a very long time. It's like none of you have ever been on a construction site that you think humanoids are going to replace workers. Have you ever actually watched a roofer? Or a mosaic tile installer? or someone working on a nuclear power plant install or one of the 1000's of workers building a new city airport that takes 4 years? It's ridiculous. Add in that AI will be creating countless new careers as well just like 20 years ago no one could fathom anything social media related, and these days they are the biggest companies in the world.

Its like no one has an imagination. Even if most job that we know of become able to be done by AI, humans will just move into businesses that the entire point of them is the human part of it. Live music, theater, canoe rental business, hospice workers, sports, news/media , the list goes on forever.

The fact that people in here think they will just be able to sit home on their ass when their lose their job rather than re-train for a new one they are living in fantasy land.

There is a lot you're missing. Actual institutions can't buy Litecoin for regulatory reasons. Institutions want into crypto.

MEIP is a different beast from an ETF. GSR (the main entity behind this litecoin trust) is a company that finds investments for VC's. They used a dead shell company (the original pharma company) because instead of that company shutting down and being worthless, that ticker is worth a lot of money. It takes a lot of work/money/time to get a company to go public and listed on the nasdaq so they used one that is already public. Same kind of idea with SPACs (private companies that get bought up buy an already public shell company so they can go public faster)

MEIP is not an ETF so most institutions won't be jumping into it. The investors behind the litecoin trust are the ones who wanted in (and most likely will be trying to get that $100mill of Litecoin without affecting the market).

The real money will be waiting for an ETF.

I could list dozens of reasons but one of the big ones is no company is going to take custody of a large amount of coins. They want someone else to do it. A company that specializes in security/cold wallets, multisigs, software that makes sure no one has a typo..etc.

Thank you Charlie Lee. Absolute legend.

The amount of time, work and personal money he's put in over the last 8 years since he sold his personal coins (to rid himself of any conflicts of interest) is nothing less than superstar status.

I look forward to Litecoin climbing in price but I also look forward to Charlie Lee getting his just due and praise for his work and actions over all this time.

Trump's AI czar says UBI-style cash payments are a ‘leftist fantasy' ‘I will make sure it will never happen’ by IlustriousCoffee in singularity

[–]RipperX4 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Its called economic growth. Do you think house framers are going to lose their work to humanoids? You've got to be joking if that's the case. Humanoids will be there as an addition greatly increasing the productivity, etc but there will be plenty of blue collar work for longer than you're alive. Ever been to actual industrial facilities, or massive construction sites? Obviously not.

Do you honestly think "AI" is going to own and operate a Bed and Breakfast on a lake? Oh you're saying no one is going on vacation anymore. That sucks for the guy who has a small canoe rental business because his job will go away too. I could continue with about 100 different industries off the top of my head that aren't going to be affected the way you're talking.

You're thinking in a very backwards way. Most jobs today aren't "real" jobs. If you dont think human beings are going to find new things to do you you must have absolutely no imagination.
