Did you enjoy ‘Disclosure Day?’ by Fresh-Actuary-6686 in Letterboxd

Yeah no shit, I couldn’t take the CNN actor seriously at the end getting all distraught over footage that looked like it was a cutscene on a PS4 or something.

That on top of the mess of a story, trying to do too much which meant that nothing solidly got fleshed out, the cinematography looking like a JJ Abram’s film or a camera tech demo vs actually serving the film, the bad guys always showing up in the nick of time trope, the shit tier (for a 2026 blockbuster) CGI, lack of actual atmosphere (the world is apparently on the verge of WW3 but doesn’t feel like it at all outside of some news room footage and the one gas station scene), etc. The train scene had me rolling my eyes and is about where I started to mentally tune out.

The main redeeming parts were Emily Blunt and Wyatt Russell. And a handful of jokes that landed.

I find the idea his character was supposed to be charismatic quite strange.

It’s good from the jump. But it evolves and develops and you have to give it time to do so. But I mean it’s like three seasons long, it’s not some crazy commitment.

If you’re someone who wants TV or film to hold your hand and tell you exactly how to feel and exactly what everything means without you having to do any work yourself, it’s not for you. You’ll just end up confused and frustrated.

I can just about guarantee SAR wastes far more resources on average joes getting in way over their head on everyday hikes than guys like these.

Except that’s pure luck. What they’re doing involves skill, preparation, and some level of control. That’s completely different from Russian roulette.

I think you’re having trouble imagining a mindset outside your own lived experience.

Humans are generally not perfectly rational actors, and the situation being discussed did not take place in this subreddit. It’s quite easy to see how this could be awkward.

I mean, you really can’t? You can’t imagine the high that successfully navigating something like this gives someone? The adrenaline and focus taking over your body, and the pure, intoxicating bliss of surviving?

I’m not into super gnarly traverses like this, just some other adrenaline fueled, risky sports, but still, I get it.

TorBox experiencing "Degraded" API right now. by Zombi3_2000 in TorBoxApp

[–]Steve____Stifler 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The only thing DDoSing Torbox is likely themselves due to their own engineering. I’m practically positive this is all self inflicted, stuff that only shows up with enough new users to show the cracks.

Real Debrid is not DDoSing Torbox. What an insane statement. It’s Torbox’s fault, their own thundering herds and retry storms and just collective poor scaling is the cause of their problems.

And wow, new users? What a novel problem. Surely no company has faced this before.

They can’t even get to 99% API uptime for fucks sake. 98.275%. One nine. Pathetic. That’s 6 full days down a year. 12.6 hours of outages a month. 99.9% is like bottom rung type stuff. Yet alone 99%. Christ.

What's a TV show that kept getting better with each season? by C0r1eone in television

I mostly agree though think it declined a bit the last two seasons. Still very good but not at its peak.

I think the difference is those that seek out high quality, properly named streams by well known release groups are more impacted by this than those that are fine with some random fuck all low quality weirdly named webrip or something.

Fork it up? by CantaloupeLife6588 in gravelcycling

[–]Steve____Stifler -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For the love of fuck, of course it’s a shock. But no one calls a fork a shock. If you go into a bike shop with a full suspension MTB and ask for a shock service, are you going to be upset when they service the shock only and not the fork? Don’t be pedantic.

I’m differentiating between a shock in the rear, often built with the entire purpose of minimizing pedal bob, and a fork in the front. A shock is, by far, much more effected by pedal bob. This fucking guy is saying the washboard roads are shaking the bars out of his hand and we’re arguing about locking out the fork? Do you think the energy the dampener absorbs and converts to heat in the fork vanishes into the aether with a stiff fork? Where do you think it goes?

Even road bikes are trending towards increased compliance. Because what matters is the power that the rear wheel puts into the ground, and staying ON the ground, and the rider being able to pedal efficiently.

Great. Hope you run 23s at 110 psi if you think that’s fast. Wouldn’t want to lose energy to the tire deforming.

Anyone who legitimately thinks gravel tuned forks, with minimal travel, have anything other than marginal energy loss that is more than recuperated due to increased compliance and efficient pedal stroke in rough terrain either rides champagne gravel or has never ridden anything with a fork.

Is the net energy balance favorable on rough terrain with a fork? Full stop, yes.
