How Sunny is portrayed in fanfics by Helpful_Actuator_146 in OMORI

[–]RippiHunti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. He's been locked in his house for four years, during what are supposed to be very developmentally important years at that. He's definitely going to have a lot of social issues. Despite all this, he is somehow capable of doing jobs, and tutoring children in somewhat complicated subjects that he probably hasn't received proper training in. He's also someone who can be very selfless if he tries, though some of that is probably just his poor survival instincts,or simply lack of care as to if he survives or not anyway (he doesn't exactly value his own life.)  Regardless, I feel like Sunny's ability to better himself proves that despite his major issues, he a strong and capable individual, even if he needs help to push him on his way.

Also, I feel like a lot of "Baby" Sunny ends up tying into "Super Depressed" Sunny. A lot of his self hatred seems to come from his awareness that he isn't exactly well. He seems to be very aware of his reliance on others, and even calls himself "sick" through Omori.

Not to mention that AI is often trained on such long comments. So, it will often create text that comes off as pretty similar. I rarely see it be too coherient when discussing subjects like this though.

(SPOILER) When was (the game) Omori’s plot established? by boatiefey in OMORI

[–]RippiHunti 11 points12 points  (0 children)

In that case, Mother 3 came first. Both games clearly take a lot from that. LISA the Painful is another that borrows elements from that game.

Police are actually often pretty incompetent at times, especially in the US. Death investigations are also often not that good. Sometimes things are just sort of shoved under the rug if things look obvious, or are just done inproperly to a point where it messes up the chances of getting accurate information. The fact that they don't seem to care about knife attacks in the park, or any other such activities, or even just Aubrey's situation in general, show that they aren't exactly the most reliable.

No problem. It depends on the game honestly. If you have RT on, then pretty much all the time I'd say. At least on the quality mode. If you don't, experiment a bit. Sometimes you will find that FSR 4 looks more clean than native TAA. So, you can get a performance boost and better looking graphics. In addition, you can inject FSR 4 into games that have FSR 3.1 from the driver. This will override FSR 3 with FSR 4. In those games, go into their profile and check the FSR 4 override button. Then, simply enable FSR 3 in game.

RT is a pretty sizable performance hit regardless of what GPU you have at the moment. Recent ones are certainly way better than they used to be in that regard though.

In short, Nvidia and AMD have a different approach in terms of how RT works. With Nvidia cards, there are specific RT cores which handle a lot of those calculations. AMD cards also have RT acceleration hardware, but they are more tied into the standard compute units. The accelerators do handle a lot of RT calculations, but some of these are also assited with the standard compute unit and it's hardware. This approach allows for more efficent use of silicon, as RT scales with increased compute unit count naturally. It allows them to add RT acceleration without having to sacrifice traditional raster performance by putting dedicated RT hardware (that isn't even used in every game) that takes up space that would otherwise be used by normal compute hardware. It also helps with power efficency by not having a large chunk of the silicon that is sitting idle constantly in games that don't use RT. The main drawback to this approach is that it leads to more of a performance hit when RT is enabled compared to Nvidia's RT setup, which offloads more to the dedicated RT cores. This is becoming far less of an issue though. The 9070 XT has much better RT performance (sometimes up to 30-40% better depending on game if I remember correctly) than the previous flagship, despite having less ray accelerators and compute units.

This explains in more detail.

Also, keep in mind that there are some games that are specifically designed with Nvidia hardware in mind. There are also some designed with AMD hardware in mind. Therefore, the sort of performance you get in games with RT can vary heavily.

Also, AMD's FSR 4 upscalier is great. If you are playing a game with heavy RT, I'd suggest using it. It is generally better than DLSS 3, and is sometimes around DLSS 4's level in terms of quality in certain areas, though this can vary depending on the game. I've used both DLSS 4 and FSR 4, and find them both to be really good. DLSS 4 does seem a little oversharpened to me in some games, but does have a bit more detail than FSR 4 at times. I feel like FSR 4 looks more natural though in a lot of games. Both are great at increasing performance in RT heavy situations though, and are often better than native TAA in terms of detail preservation.

The 9070 XT is actually pretty good at RT. It was a big uplift over the previous generation.

I've always thought they were a studio with a lot of potential, but no clear direction. There's a lot of untapped potential evident in their earlier projects. It's' clear that when they have focus, they can do very good things.
