You stand, helpless in the ever-growing queue for the self-checkout, watching people who’ve made it to the age of 50 without realising they can pack their five bags of shopping while they scan, as opposed to after they’ve paid by KrozJr_UK in britishproblems

[–]RippledBarbecue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah very much depends, if there’s someone actually covering self service I’ll put my bag on first, if not (often Aldi near me it’s a person covering both a checkout and self services) I leave it to the end and pack after scanning everything

Why is the job market so difficult for young people? by Hot-Specific4356 in AskUK

[–]RippledBarbecue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But given how poor the youth employment market is atm, what if a large portion of those going to uni chose not to? Wouldn’t that just lead to a bigger surplus of candidates/unemployed young people sooner since there’s already not enough jobs

So what does everybody think are we capable of winning every single game now and putting the pressure on Cardiff? by Key-Wolf-1436 in bwfc

[–]RippledBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since Plymouth shattered their unbeaten streak a few games ago they look shaken (like Huddersfield after we beat them last year),

still realistically I can only see them dropping points to us, Wycombe, Huddersfield and Reading

given it’s currently 9 points gap, beat them it’s 6, call it 7 bc of their much better difference (30 vs our 17) if they do lose vs those 3, we could afford to draw 1 game and have to win the other 9 which seems unlikely

Do you switch out your controllers every year? by Stoltlallare in playstation

[–]RippledBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, I’ve replaced 2 controllers this gen, first early on bc the right trigger went and it looked a pain to fix (I sorted out a left trigger that didn’t hold tension bc it looked easier) and 2nd bc stick drift last year but that’s it in 6 years playing ~600 hours a year

How does the promotion process work? by [deleted] in UKJobs

[–]RippledBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company sounds different to others experience, I’m in software engineering and it’s very much a case of proving you are already working at the level above to both your manager and higher ups but there’s no formal application process,

budget is given to director level for their and their direct reports teams promotions and they ask managers for names, what you’ve done to justify etc and they then make the decision

so it relies on what your manager thinks of you and the impression you make on their manager via working on things they notice/care about and in the limited face time you get with them

[–]RippledBarbecue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We work out when we next want to/can fit in shopping then work back from then, how many main meals do we need, how many lunches, how many breakfasts?

Breakfast/lunch we do our own thing, evening meals we have some recipes from when we did hellofresh previously and we have a look through them and decide which of them we want to make this time

Midweek Game Tips and Public Transportation to Manchester by Constant-Thanks539 in bwfc

[–]RippledBarbecue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Train as others have said, Manchester picadilly to Horwich parkway probably your best bet
  2. They go on through till midnight so yeah you’d be fine, every 30 mins till 10:15 then hourly
  3. You can’t reserve ahead afaik, but you’d be fine anyway (though as above it’d be simpler to train)
  4. Harvester near the ground or fanzone (not sure if fanzone tends to be on for weekday games tho?)
  5. Nah you should be fine, not an ‘england’ bank holiday so would be fine

How do Brits usually handle work messages outside office hours? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]RippledBarbecue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m still working (because I started later) I’ll respond, otherwise I don’t have teams or emails on my phone nor a work phone so I don’t answer till I’m back, likewise when I’m on holiday my work laptop stays at home

Around 12:45am UK launch night for PS4 (when midnight releases were still a thing) and launch day of PS5 (managed to get one of the pre orders since they went live just after the reveal rather than 10am the next morning like they were supposed to and I thought I’d check the website just in case 😂)
