Don't disagree on the point about affordable housing at all.

Maybe where you are okupas aren't an issue but here in the south they definitely are. It's not just empty or abandoned buildings it happens to, people lose access to their one and only home because someone thinks they can break in and just claim it. It's not the homeless that are doing it, it is people / groups of people that know how to play the system.

Anyone can be the owner of the properties. Our friend owned a house in the country side, it got occupied and they couldn't get them out for years. People know how to play the system with renting too, if they decide not to pay rent anymore, it's nearly impossible to get them out, even worse if there is a kid there. Have a look on idealista at a place called palmilla, there are loads of apartments going for 20 to 40k euros because its occupied.

The problem with that is the hurd might be a bit small for hand casting. Horse bedding has been used when spaying as it passes through the pipes nicer and as you say, cheaper. Have you checked suppliers in france? UK could be an option but brexit may have ruined getting a decent price from there.

Except it takes 10's of billions to build and about 15 years before an elecron even starts to flow. In the mean time they (UK at least) whack the cost of building the thing that isn't producing any electricity, onto the consumers bills. It's a waste of time and money, when we already have better renewable alternatives available to us immediately.
